Goes to “All Mail.” The idea is that Google (Gmail) is a search giant, so you can search in your email later down the road, versus deleting and losing it forever. With the free storage space they provide, it is to your benefit to “Archive” instead of “Delete,” unless it is really junk.

I can zoom in so the text is large enough to read and I appreciate that. However, the app should automatically reflow the text – that seems so obvious – so that you don’t have to pan around like an idiot to read messages. I find the new features somewhat of limited use because of this.

Also, you shouldn’t have to type special characters to filter things; there should be menu options or buttons that could handle this kind of thing. Gmail is too simplistic an app. Google can do better and their email app should better reflect the high tech and innovative nature of their company.

Instead I have noticed people making comments like ‘Finally!’ or ‘When are we going to get this other feature that I have been waiting for?’ (Such as ‘Turn off conversation view’, ‘Filter tools’, ‘Text reflow’, etc.)

they go to your “all” folder and no longer show up in your inbox. you can un-archive them if you did so by accident

I uninstalled gmail using TB, Reboot, installed from play store. Had to recreate my signatures.

this zooming option only allows zooming to 100% not past (what if I want to read the fine print in an image?)

Use TiBu to uninstall, reboot, profit! (I also fixed permissions in TWRP, just for good measure)

When you double-tap to zoom…you have to double-tap again to get the text to re-flow?

Exactly! I don’t know how it is on stock ICS/JB…but the email app on my D4 (Blur-wich) allows different actions for left and right swipes. You can delete, move, mark read/unread or do nothing. Works slick.

uninstalling gmail with tibu does not solve the issue, you will end up with another error.

this is likely due to the fact you have a modded gmail app in place. roll back to stock and then try it.
