Well at least it’s cool as a proof of concept. I’m sure they will work out the bugs. There has been more than one time for me where I really wanted to do a backup, but not have to have my phone off for 10-15 minutes. (backups take forever on the Galaxy S III as samsung has a huge footprint with their roms).

This seems cool but like boot manager I was having a good time with that but there is just something that goes wrong when your phone is on and trying to do something that important. Also how many apps do you have that your back up only takes 4 min… my recovery times (backup/ clear data cache / install new rom) take upwards of 15 min easy. I also have some 200 apps this could be the reason.

That’s not even the point. He didn’t say that that kept him from flashing roms or that he was crying in a corner during those 20 minutes. Only that it’s a bit of a nuisance, which it is. Now, with a simple flash of a zip, you don’t even have to think twice about making a backup. That’s a win in my book.

Everything appeared to work and a backup started on my GNex, but at the 25 minute mark my phone rebooted. My screen was dark at that point, so I don’t know if it worked/finished or not. I do have a corresponding folder in clockworkmodbackup on my sd card, but I’m not going to restore it since I got no confirmation that it worked and I don’t trust the fact that my phone rebooted…

Just finished, 23:24:17 so nearly an hour
Could not find /boot or /recovery
It’s a neat idea, it’s just really slow and doesn’t back up everything, so I don’t see the purpose other than not having to boot into recovery. But if you’re going to flash a rom what’s the harm in doing the nandroid first then flashing the rom, you’re in recovery anyways.
