I don’t think this is true. According to the e-mail I received from Google CS, after I called them about it, they said that the reserved amount stays in your account until the item ships. The guy even compared this to when you stay at a hotel. You pay for the first night, then you pay the rest when you check out.

But then again, maybe they’re wrong, who knows for sure. Can anyone who’s pre-ordered the Nexus 7 through Google confirm this? Has the “reserved” amount cleared from your bank account yet? Let us know!

Also, when pre-ordering from Amazon.com, they never put a hold on your money. You pay whey they ship your items, and not before.

Well..considering it’s somewhat of a limited edition white Nexus 7, I’d say there should be a lot of interest. Maybe not now, but soon I bet.

A lot of companies do this – they reserve the amount on your card/account to make sure you have the funds. This will go away in a few days, freeing up the money. Once it ships they’ll put the charge through for real.

Yeah, the display models were all dark grey back. The Android DevRel folks confirmed white was the special I/O version only.
