They may eventually merge, but for now Android is for touch, and Chrome OS is for mouse/keyboard. I do NOT want a tablet, so Chrome OS is great for me.

how about the ability to stream music and videos from Google Drive without having to first download it. Like how netflix, youtube, google music, ect. work? so then I can save my own movies and music to the drive and play it on any computer or phone.

I agree. For what it is worth I do have a little bit of an inside scoop about the marketing Google is about to launch. My wife applied for a job two weeks ago for local marketing at Best Buy. They asked all sorts of technology questions but we didn’t find out until after she was hired that it was a job with Google.There going to have in-store reps at all of the Best Buys (at least the ones that are still open!) trying to push Chrome. Phase one last a year and phase two is possible if things go well. I was hoping it was Android but I guess this is close enough.

How is this different than one the drive client does already by locally caching files on your desktop? Or is this refering to phones?

Chromebooks, specifically, may not catch on as a brand. But computing will move more and more toward the cloud as time goes on. Eventually, you won’t want a power hungry beast in your house. It’ll be a simple client that taps into the cloud, just as a Chromebook does. But even in the future, you will want that client to be able to be taken offline, and Google Drive offline is a good step in that direction.

A million times this. I couldn’t believe I couldn’t download a file from Drive to a specific location on my phone like I can with Dropbox.

This. I thought I was going to completely switch from dropbox but I use that more than Drive.
