Leaked Verizon Roadmap Reveals Potential Launch Dates for Stratosphere, Vigor, Bionic and More

The folks over at IGN may have just landed the ultimate Verizon roadmap leak for the next couple of months.  We’re not even sure where to begin with so many exciting things to point out including potential release dates, but we’ll do our best to contain ourselves and make this simple.  The big things of note are the confirmation of the Samsung Stratosphere that we’ve been talking a ton about lately, the HTC Vigor replacing the Thunderbolt, and a new LG Revolution 2 that we semi-confirmed the other day.

So here we go…

  • DROID Bionic:  (9/8 launch) – You already know everything about this device, don’t you?
  • Samsung Stratosphere:  (9/8 launch) – 4G LTE device running Android 2.3
  • HTC Vigor:  (10/6 launch) – Will replace the HTC Thunderbolt
  • LG Revolution 2:  (10/20 launch) – Will replace the original Revolution
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab P8 (November launch) – Could be the 8.9″ Galaxy Tab?
  • Samsung Illusion:  (9/29 launch) – 3G smartphone running Android 2.3
  • Samsung Plato:  (January launch) – whatever it is, it was pushed to 2012
  • HTC Bliss:  (9/29 launch) – Lower end Android 2.3 device; the chick phone?
  • Motorola XOOM 4G LTE:  (9/8 launch) – Assuming this is the date that the 4G LTE upgrade starts. Also when the 4G LTE version will be in stores.

Still no word on whether or not the Stratosphere is the Galaxy S2, but it could be battling it out directly with the Bionic should they both meet that 9/8 launch date.  Folks will have to wait for the HTC Vigor which will make its debut the following month to replace the Tbolt as one of the most anticipated devices we have reported on in a while.  And we could see some additional Android players on all sorts of levels.

So August may indeed be as boring as we predicted, but this fall is looking to be spectacular.

Cheers Derek!

Well like everyone else said August will suck. Hopefully we can get some good official announcements, hopefully this document is legit, and hopefully we can all get the awesome LTE phone we have all been wanting because we can all agree the LTE phones release so far have all been old technology and very lackluster

I precisely wanted to thank you very much once more. I’m not certain the things I could possibly have gone through without the entire hints shown by you over that topic. This has been a real distressing concern in my position, nevertheless noticing your professional style you managed that made me to cry for joy. Now i am grateful for the guidance and as well , wish you find out what a great job you have been accomplishing instructing the rest via a web site. I’m certain you’ve never met all of us.

I’m curious to see what the Vigor looks like if its launching in October.  I feel a sense of deja vu coming on.

iPhone 4 launched a month before the ThunderBolt, but it was aiming to be the same month until it got pushed back again to March.  So it looks like there repeating history by making the ThunderBolt 2 come out around the iPhone 5.  Pretty gutsy but I guess its pretty bold too since it will be more powerful than the Bionic from the leaked specs lol  But will it have a kickstand? :D

  • Anonymous

To late, Goodby Bionic Hello Vigor. One more month isnt that bad.

    • Ryan

      my thoughts exactly

  • 98galantster

I can’t believe more people arnt excited for the HTC Vigor that seems like the device to get for me. Was holding out for the bionic since we first learned about it but specs of the Vigor and HTC new stance on allowing phones “enthusiasts” to unlock their phone seems like best thing out for me Vigor>Bionic>S II

  • Niteperson

Honestly, as much as I love my Droid X, I think I’m ready to revert back to a smaller 4″ screen.  The Droid 3 and Incredible 2 are both turning out to be solid phones and one of them may be next for me.  I don’t need 4G (it isn’t available in my area, anyway).

  • Brent Farago

I was excited about the Bionic.  Then it took too long and and looked like it would just be Verizon’s version of the Photon.  Now I’m excited about the Vigor.  I can wait another month.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_KTGKBDMFNMTHTXUT3ILVEUOKEE matts

Oct.6. That is the date I will be I will be counting down, patiently waiting for the Vigor to release, only to watch that date come and go with no Vigor. Can’t wait.

  • Anonymous

And everyone will erupt if these dates don’t turn out to be true lol.

  • http://twitter.com/expertontech expertontech

Well looks like the Vigor is my next phone.

  • Anonymous

August is going to be a loooonnng month for us waiting for these things

    • Pnicuh

yup, a full 31 days in the month of August blah, hope my BlackBerry S2 wont die yet haha.

      • Anonymous

Haha, I’m rocking a BB S1. God help us both

  • Johnjr68

One of these new 4g LTE phones needs to drop now.  My OG Droid is just about done and I need an update now.  Don’t know if I will be able to make it another month.

    • Dongwenal

Same here was waiting on Bionic now looking at iphone5.

      • Pnicuh

really iphone5? uhh.. ok.. nice to know in droid life.

      • Anonymous

The iphone is supposed to come out after the bionic so if you want a 3g phone with features that have been on android for years then by all means enjoy it.

  • Droiiid

Remember that 9/1 date for the bionic that kellen has been talking about for a while now? It could still very well be true – look at the xoom 4g listing – it says “could be one week earlier” and we know that Moto said that the xoom upgrade and bionic would drop at the same time.  Plus the bionic says “upgraded to a level one launch.” not sure what that means but it could have something to do with it.

If anyone knows what a level one launch is, please share

    • Anonymous

I’ve heard that term before, and I’m pretty positive it has to do with advertising levels.

  • Derp

Do we know if the Vigor is 4G? I assume if its replacing the TB it should be but it doesn’t indicate it there like the other 4G phones in the list..

    • Anonymous

I was thinking the same thing it makes no sense to not have 4g if its replacing the tb then again the revolution 2 also doesnt say lte.

      • Mrbrooks418

the Vigor is to be a 4g lte phone with dual 1.5 cores 1 gb ram a 720P res. 4.3″ screen and new Generation  graphics processor. Oh and its an HTC so it will have Sense. :)

        • Derp

          source?

        • Anonymous

that is all speculation especially about the screen size.

          • Mrbrooks418

yes it is. Hopefully we will get some solid information soon….

        • http://profiles.google.com/statsprofessor Jakub Palka

Thanks for the laugh. Is Adreno 220 the “new” generation processor?

          • Anonymous

that guy has no idea what he is talking about he just spouts off things and expects people to believe it is fact just going by what he says. Come on @cbb856cbf8ec5bacefbae39e608d6c10:disqus source or STFU

          • Mrbrooks418

ive read several reports on spec and they all listed the same stuff. you sound a little upset or combattive Chris 125, must be an upset Iphone owner…….

          • Anonymous

Upset? I don’t get upset over a phone I have a thunderbolt and have an upgrade now so why would I be upset? Please don’t make me laugh maybe you get worked up over a phone but I don’t. And source or it didn’t happen.

          • Mrbrooks418

you dont get worked up? people are on here just throwing their thoughts out and your just jumping aroud from person to person throwing out negitive BS. If you dont have any thing positive to add to someones post then dont post it. got something negitive to post about the topic this thread has been started on thats fine……..

          • Anonymous

What negative bs am I throwing around? HTC and poor battery life that is fact every htc one negative is always the battery life. Come on man don’t get your panties in a bunch because I state what is known and you rely on some random thing you say you heard(and still have yet to provide a source) and then get all pissy when someone says something you don’t like. If you can’t handle that no phone is perfect and is going to have issues and people will note them then maybe you should go back to a flip phone.

          • Mrbrooks418

Flip phone, Really? Ive probably had more phones and experience than you so dont start with the all mighty BS. Your probably half my age, REALLY? Im done with the nonsense….

          • Anonymous

Doubt that since I work with phones for a living also includes have had pretty much every smart phone on verizon.

  • http://www.facebook.com/COOOOOOOOOOOOOOP Brad W. Cooper

I for one can hardly believe anything that is said in this roadmap. There were roadmaps released before about different phones being released and none of them came true. Just some made up speculation. There is no info what so ever on the Vigor and what ever the Stratosphere is. So how is it all of a sudden coming in 1-2 month? Makes no sense to me. Second why is it in a Microsoft spread sheet if this is real and not in something a little more professional? Kind of set up the possibility for a man made roadmap to me. The only thing that has be slightly believing this is it is from IGN and they are a great reputable source

    • Anonymous

Because maybe this isn’t finished and wasn’t supposed to get out? I mean have you ever seen a real one of these to compare it to?

      • http://www.facebook.com/COOOOOOOOOOOOOOP Brad W. Cooper

@BlkThndr3 Well still how can we take anything said in this serious. It still is a bunch of speculations. How many road maps have we seen were release dates have been outed and none came true. I would love for the Vigor to come in Oct, but since no word of it existing until a week or so ago how is it all of a sudden coming out in two month? Highly unlikely.

        • Anonymous

Well actually the vigor showed up a while back when a picture was taken with it and uploaded . But yes we have saw so many roadmaps but most that people were going off of weren’t in spread sheets. I’m not saying this is true I am just saying this looks more real than the random piece of paper someone supposedly got from some source with a verizon device on it. I guess we will find out if these hold true in the next coming weeks/months

    • Anonymous

Have you ever actually looked in Verizon’s system? Many of the pages you’d find look very unprofessional. I would know.

  • http://profiles.google.com/toddlower Todd Lower

I might have to hold out for the Vigor

  • Interstellarmind

come on, HTC. bump up a month and totally shame samsung and moto.

(or perhaps, HTC truly is playing the customer focus angle, and letting the big guys battle it out so that loyal fans of HTC that are left can pick up the vigor, and spread it’s goodness via word of mouth? slow and steady wins the race?)

at this point: htc can do no wrong in my eyes.

    • Floridas2012

Agree I plan on sticking with HTC phones I curently have an Dinc2 and love it espesoly sense.

  • http://twitter.com/James_C_L James C. L.

    Vigor! Vigor! Vigor!
    Bellisimo!!

  • CaptM

Oh Come On People, all this is is an Excel Spreadsheet, anyone could have made it.
How can anyone take this for anything Official?
I can make the same thing and take a photo of the monitor.

    People can be so gulible.

    • Anonymous

Maybe you should make another post saying you could make this. We get it it could be fake nobody is saying it is the real deal.

  • UncannyValley

      @comiskeybum
It’s been out here since June 18, I just have a great dislike for the carrier (claro). And I’m not one to take pictures of a pretty well know device(s) (whats the point, bragging?), maybe if it was one of the variants(sprint, tmo, verizon etc…
@chris125 I thought it was released on Feb.

  • Ror1997

I Hope the HTC Vigor isnt verizons evo shift…

  • Buckgrad

Still think the Stratosphere will be a 4G GS2. Going head to head with the Bionic on the same day would be an interesting fight. I’ll go with the GS2.

    • Anonymous

Yeah but it might be a slider.  I dont want a stupid keyboard.  Now if it was really a gs2 LTE without a keyboard that’d be awesome.

      • Buckgrad

Agreed. The slider would kill it for me.

    • Anonymous

The chances of Verizon releasing two dual core lte handsets on the same day are very low. They would lose so much money in sales by doing that, which I’m sure they looked into.

      • Anonymous

How would they lose sales? If 100 people wanted to buy a new phone and 50 got 1 and 50 got another they still are selling 100 phones.

        • Anonymous

100 people buy a phone, come to find out one they like more comes out. 50 people buy another phone. See how it works?

          • Anonymous

That happens now anyway. Not to mention they are still making money so once again your point is moot.

          • Anonymous

You completely missed the point of my comment.

          • Anonymous

Buyers remorse happens alot they are still getting sales I understand what you are saying but it doesn’t mean they won’t do it.

          • Nonyabizz

If SGII and Bionic were even released within 30 days apart I’m sure they’ll have returns/swaps anyway.  So why not release both and not have to worry about the onslaught of users buying temp to return later.  I hear this method being used often for people craving the latest tech OR wanting to just try out a phone.

          • Anonymous

Because that would be to logical for verizon lol.

      • Mrbrooks418

That woundnt happen for the sheer fact that Verizon favores Motorola over any other Vendor they deal with. they would push the nearly year old annouced motorola Bionic over samsung and definitly over HTC….

        • Jake

Verizon favors Verizon over everyone. It’s business, and they’re not going to allow a sinking vendor to drag them down for the sake of “loyalty”. Sure, the original Droid launch, which was a combined effort by VZW and Moto, was a big boost to both companies. However, Motorola’s repeated blunders (eg delayed updates, delayed phones, delayed LTE upgrade for Xoom, inferior/rushed-to-market Xoom) are hurting. Plus, Moto has started releasing high-end phones on other carriers, and VZW embraced one of Moto’s biggest competitors, Apple (and agreed to no bloatware and no VZE branding on the iphone…that’s major). So VZW and Moto aren’t as tight as you may think. It’s business, not personal.

If the iPhone 5 launches in September, then it makes sense for both the Bionic and the Stratosphere (assuming it’s the SGSII) to also launch in September. If only the Bionic were launching, then the news would bill it as iPhone vs Bionic, and iPhone would SLAUGHTER the Bionic in sales. By releasing two big Android phones, then the battle would be redefined as iPhone vs Android. The combined sales of Bionic and the Statosphere would appear to be more competitive against the iPhone.

          • Anonymous

Very true verizon may see it as a chance to get both those who want the bionic and those who want the sgs2 both on the same day. They want people locked into contracts they make more money off contracts anyway. Moto had its chance and fumbled it verizon needs some money makers before the iphone launch since they know it will sell like hot cakes.

        • Jake

The Samsung Aegis was reported back in July to be a netbook, so the stratosphere being the gs2 is not definite.  Since August release dates are absent from this spreadsheet (and if it is trustworthy) the gs2 could be coming up on the rumored 8/12 date.

    http://forums.androidcentral.com/rumored-devices/98432-unofficial-verizon-roadmap.html

    • Anonymous

BUT,  it would not support LTE.  The GS2 is the thinnest smartphone and it would have to get a lot THICKER to support an LTE chip.

Its an awesome phone but I want LTE

      • Anonymous

It wouldnt have to be that much thicker look what they did with the sprint version just made it a little larger and thicker to get the wimax radio in so it wouldnt be a stretch to see lte in the sgs2

        • Anonymous

Wimax isn’t as big a chip as LTE.

          • Anonymous

They are close in size though. I was just saying if they are willing to change it for sprint I can see them doing the same for verizon.

    • Anonymous

Don’t you think we would have heard something by now if it’s to be released in a week?

  • angermeans

The HTC Vigor will be mine. Anyone with plans to purchase the very underwhelming (and more than likely locked down) Motorola Bionic has to have a few screws loose with the much better and exciting Vigor (name will be different)

    • Anonymous

LOL your hilarious.  You act like HTC does not lock their phones.  I know they started unlocking them but they never said they would be unlocked at time of release.

And by the way……….HTC’s track record is nothing to brag about.

      • Anonymous

Neither is their battery life lol

      • Mrbrooks418

HTC’s track record has been fine with they exception of VZW’s thunderbolt. i still thing its more on VZW side than HTC’s….

        • Anonymous

Evo had just as many issues as the TB. It isn’t verizon it is htc they have bad battery life and their build quality is questionable at times.

    • Anonymous

Or maybe you’re just an HTC fanboy incapable of logic or reason?

  • UncannyValley

September 8!!!… might as well wait for the Nexus Prime(or the gs3 if it doesn’t hit a carrier wall). It’s a shame this is truly a great phone(i’ve played with it a couple of times), but this would be 7 months old by then.

    Thanks At&t,Tmo,Verizon and Sprint.

    • Anonymous

I dont believe for a second that you’ve played with it and not taken a picture of it

    • Anonymous

the sgs2 is 4 months old come sept. The bionic is like 8 months old

      • Anonymous

Not really 8 months old because that was a totally different phone back in january.  The entire phone was scrapped in favor of this one.  This one was finalized in late June according to reports.  So its not old.

        • Anonymous

well for smartphones it is old lol since it seems like every few months phones are outdated anymore.

      • Mrbrooks418

YEP, and the HTC VIGOR is so new, were just hearing about it. Probably why it’s gonna have the fastest cores(1.5) and best screen res.(720P)

  • Ror1997

Since the fascinate is “retired” can i brake the fascinate and get one of the new samsungs?

    • Anonymous

I am sure they have lots of replacement fascinates waiting I would say wait a few months and then try

  • Sporttster

Patience….patience…I need to learn PATIENCE!! RIGHT NOW!!!!! SEPTEMBER!

  • Pnicuh

Sweet September 8th then for Droid Bionic, am gonna pre-order so maybe the end of August? =)

    • Anonymous

Should be the Thursday before.  So 9/1 at midnight

      • Pnicuh

        kool, thanx

        • Anonymous

There was a report that a ton of Bionics have already rolled off the assembly line so there really shouldnt be too much of a problem getting one on pre-order day.  My 12MBPS internet is ready to do, lol.

  • Daniel

This spreadsheet is a joke… Verizon would never say one device is replacing another device… Lg won’t call their new device the revolution 2, after the first one didn’t sell and was released in the same year… And the author was saying that everyone knew the bionic would b released on the 8th… Who the hell knew that?

    • Anonymous

They do it all the time.

  • Mrbrooks418

HTC Vigor is gonna crush any other phone on the market. Dual 1.5 cores, 720P screen res, brand new Graphic processor, etc. And their saying it’s the Thunderbolt replacement? Im gonna have to accidently run my TB over come this OCT……… LMAO

    • Anonymous

I’ll believe it when I see it.  Im not saying its not possible.  But HTC has been quit shitty in my experience.  But I hope your right.

    • Anonymous

You won’t get it because they will have plenty of tb replacments

    • http://twitter.com/QSMinSD Q

Dont forget a 1400mah battery! lol

    • Anonymous

No it’s not a brand new graphics processor, it’s an Adreno 220, the same GPU that’s in the Sensation and Evo 3D.  The processor will only be a little faster than either of those and you likely won’t notice a difference particularly if it has a 1280×720 resolution.

Funny everyone gets worked up about these supposed leaks… To date I don’t know of one that has even come within a month of the actual release date. I sure miss the days of when sources were vetted before people just spread rumors they heard from a guy that heard it from friend… Heck you guys spread numerous rumors about the Charge then the Bionic now a Samsung LTE that has not even cleard the FCC with a 700MHz radio and yet you clain to be Verizon LTE. How will they get a phone to market in a month that has not even cleard FCC yet?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/joe-carnesecchi/196600056 joe carnesecchi

i am so effing torn now between upgrading next month to either bionic or w.e the equivalent is on samsung….OR just simply playing the waiting game that much longer to the end of/beggining off 2011/2012 and just get me some quad core mofo goodness.

    • Anonymous

Please believe me when I tell you this.  The first quad core phones will be a complete waste of time and money because software for OS and APPS wont be optimized for it FOR A LONG LONG TIME.  It will be kinda like having a huge powerful engine in your car but the Transmission cant handle the power.

Not to mention 4 cores will absolutley KILL YOUR BATTERY.   Battery technology will need to catch up as well.

    • Anonymous

Don’t expect quad core phones until mid next year at the earliest.

    Samsung Illusion= GSII

I dont think so because it was never called the viper if you look it says thats what it was originally called.

In all Honesty, the Bionic was a sweet phone in March… and now were getting a 6month even older technology. Might as well wait for a quad core by now.  I could possibly choose a D3 because of Battery life/Keyboard

    • DBK

The Bionic is up to date technology wise. It will be slightly more advanced than the D3.

    • Anonymous

Wait, you’re considering getting a D3 but call the Bionic outdated?  Hey buddy, the original Bionic that was scheduled for March was a completely different phone, the one that we will be seeing has been upgraded significantly.  It was delayed because of problems which led to a redesign, get over it.

why do these cell company do that drag everthing out that is so stupid why dont they just tell you hey you never no it mite drum up more business

Because of unforseen delays? I mean look at the bionic that is a prime example of people getting up in arms over release dates.

    September= Android Overload!

    • Droidl

      4G Overload too o.o

    OH YEAH

It seems strange they would launch 3 4g phones on the same day(stratosphere, bionic, curve)

    • Anonymous

Well if you consider that Blackberry is pertty much a back burner brand now and only loyal blackberry people will buy it.  That does not directly compete with an Android OS Bionic for example.  And as for the Samsung if it only has one core then it will be considered a mid-range phone which does not compete with Bionic either.  Im sure spec wise that the Bionic will be the best device that day.

      • Anonymous

in other words im saying these phones dont match up market share wise.

      • Anonymous

Well yes that could be the case I just thing it would help that the curve has 4g, not to compete but just to help get blackberry back from the dead. Even if the samsung is only single core I think some would be more inclined to get that since the unlocked bootloader even with lesser specs.

true but not everyone cares about bootloaders.  For example I plan to cover up motoblur on the bionic with GoLauncher and im happy with that.  If moto unlocks it later I might experiment but i could really care less.  I just want a phone with good specs.

          • Anonymous

I agree and some don’t care i don’t really care I just want to be able to root and remove the bloatware and maybe blur so there is no lag. I will definitely be checking out all of these.

          • Anonymous

Even with motoBlur enabled and running GoLauncher I doubt you will see any lag because it has 1GB of Ram.  And its been pretty much proven that when your not using the “webtop” that the entire 1GB of Ram is free for the phone to use.

So I bet you can put a bunch of shit on the phone and never see any significant lag.

          • Anonymous

I hope that is the case but some are seeing lag with the photon and it has 1gb ram also.

          • Anonymous

Really?  Thats odd.  But it could be something as simple as the Android OS just needs tweaked a little with an update or something.  Or maybe because its on shitty AT&T??  LOL.

          • Anonymous

The photon is on sprint which isnt much better so who knows I guess we will have to wait and see how the bionic performs.

          • Anonymous

Oh sorry i was thinking of the Atrix

    My question for everyone then:

Which phone will you upgrade to that will replace your OG Droid?

    • Anonymous

I think people will need to see specs before they decide because it seems all of these phones especially those replacing other phones could have some really nice specs, but who knows until we see for sure.

Bionic.  Since my first phone that was the startac ive always had motorola.  I see no reason to switch loyalties.  Especially with those cool docks available for it.  The only phone that would peak my interest equal to Bionic is an LTE Galaxy S 2.  My friends have had HTC phones and all of them have problems so I could care less about the Vigor.  that will probablly be made out of lego like plastic.

II think you have something backwards, it is Samsung that males the cheap feeling LEGO block phones.

    • DBK

      Droid 3 (I needs a keyboard)  :P

Bionic.  GS2 if it has LTE, I’d get it primarily because of the AMOLED+ display.

  • Taschwartz99

This doesn’t include the Nexus Prime…which I read in a forum the other day is confirmed for Verizon

    • Anonymous

Confirmation is pure bullshit.  If it was really and i mean really confirmed it would be big big big news.

      • Anonymous

        Who said anything about confirmation?

        • Anonymous

ummmmmmm he did.  Read the original comment.  Dumbass.
