New DROID 2 Ad Talks Flash, Laughs at Apple

Motorola sure loves to buy up newspaper ad space and drop bombs in the face of Apple. In the latest, Moto shows off the Droid 2 and the fact that it comes packed with Flash 10.1 allowing full “compromise-free” web browsing, which as well all know, is impossible on the i*hone.

Flash sites require Flash capabilities. Seemed pretty simple to us. That’s why we created the DROID 2. With Adobe Flash Player it gives you unrestricted access to Flash sites, videos, and games. No more empty windows or half-loaded pages. And as a 3G Mobile HotSpot, it can connect up to 5 Wi-fi enabled devices and conquer the World Wide Web. It’s compromise-free web browsing. I have flash on my Droid 1 just download the new flash update onto the computer put it on your SD card. Turn off the third party app setting, then use a file program on the Droid and it will prompt You to install it and you will be able to use the new flash!!!!:)

hey verizon, maybe you should make it work worth a crap first, eh? apple could also add tons of features that dont work, they just choose not to.

It's actually not Verizon's responsibility to get it to work correctly. It's Adobe and Google. It's not just the Droid line that can run flash, it's anything running Froyo.

Apple doesn't “choose not to” add features because of their functionality. They hold back technology or features so they can release it next year, calling it a “revolution” or “game changer.”

Verizon is pushing the sucky flash on the droid phones, and would be better of keeping it a secret.
Apple is holding back technology until they can get it working right, and until consumers are better off WITH it. I have a droid x and have been using droids since Verizon got them, and there are so many bugs and annoyances that would never pass on apple devices. (spare annoyances for iphones notifications)
excuse my fanboyism, but the droidx is getting on my nerves with the bloatware, bugs, and poor data.

I also have a Droid X, I'm not sure what bugs you're talking about with it. Second, there is no official flash for the Droid X, so how would you know it it's buggy or not? Also, I've never had a problem(bug) running mine on the leaked 2.2 with flash. Still not sure what you're getting at here and I'm certain there are other Droid X users that would agree with me.

OK, you keep yours and i will get an iphone as soon as verizon gets them.
Flash on the droid and leaked on droidx are worse than no flash at all, its slow and crashy. Its better to say “i cant do it” then to do it crappy and market it like crazy. but now i am back to the official 2.1 because the leaked had even more bugs, such as camera and camcorder slow and sometimes not work at all, and sms sorting random.
My phone keeps hanging and restarting, complained at verizon and they told me to remove my software i need to make room fro their bloatware. the phone was replaced several times already. Every replacement i have to set up the phone as a new device because “a phone doesnt need a backup and restore”. i even purchased mybackup pro, big help that is.

also my data is on 1x most of the time where my droid was on 3g.

again, if you want that keep your droidx, i dont care how many times you say you dont have these problems, and how many people here dont have them. you probably still do.

but i had very little issues with my old droid, one of my buddys have same issue with droid2. but i doupt its user error, because a phone shouldnt crash and restart with only a few programs installed above their crapware with stock firmware.
but hey, if you can live with that, go ahead, i am not trying to convince you.

OOh don't get your undies in a bunch. I have problems with my Droid, but I never compare it to the iPhone. I don't know how long you've been with droidlife but you should know that saying iPhone here is like yelling bomb on a plane. You attract attention. My phone has multiple bugs but its because of froyo. btw, my mom is too poor to have a basement. I don't even have my own room. so get off your high horse.

thats all i said and you said i was trolling. I had the original droid and its a nice phone. BUT since i paid this much money for the droidx, and its giving me a lot more problems, i think motorola shouldn't get away with this.

It's ads like this that make me think all the crazy talk about Verizon and Apple joining forces in early 2011 is completely out of the question. FWIW, they've certainly turned Apple's tactics around on them…

Apple already knows what it feels like to share the spotlight with other competing phones on the same carrier; I don't believe that any talks between Verizon and Apple would end just because of a series of advertisements.

And if you think back, Motorola and Apple used to be partners, and had a good business relationship. Regardless of whether Apple has responded in a good way, Motorola/Verizon's ad agency threw the first punch in this fight with the “iDon't” ads, so I think Apple's bitterness, while unprofessional, is still justified.

But again, I don't think any of that changed Apple and Verizon's relationship; they are probably more angry with Moto/Google than Verizon.

Having just started work at Best Buy and having met the Verizon rep for the store today, I can tell you that he certainly seems to think VZW will have i*hones soon, even when I pointed out that it had been rumored before and hadn't happened. He wouldn't say anything official, but he pointed out new VZW phones using Bing instead of Google as a default search engine, since Apple recently made the switch – then ending the sentence with “SOOOOooooo……..” He was very, what's the word – coy maybe? Twinkly-eyed.

For the 40th anniversary of this awards ceremony, Apple’s co-founder will be honored with the “Lifetime Achievement in Technology.”

I was having issues with my DROID 1 since day 1 with the proximty sensor. Decided to give Verizon a call hoping to get one of these bad boys.

Just sent me another Droid 1. Can't complain, better condition then my current.
