Been trying several different ROMs to see if there might be something different in the code that might let the Market update these apps. None had success. The other day, I decided to try out Cyanogen Mod 6 RC3 (was running RC2 for a while and really liked it). Still no success in the Market update, but completely by accident, I clicked on the Voice Search while it was in my Car Dock and it had the newer versions already installed. Blew me a way! Tested it out a few times and it works great! So I guess Koush and the team loaded it up and didn't make mention of it when RC3 came out. One note, I did tell it to add the Google Apps when downloading from ROM Manager.

Try this. It worked for me.
Use Titanium Backup to uninstall (go to backup/restore, choose the app you want and choose uninstall).

Reboot.

Install new versions from Market.

It worked for me using Lithium Mod, for Voice Search, Chrome to Phone and Google Search.

Audio from another thread gets credit for this one.

It worked for me too. I got a new rom. I don't know if it helped or not but it works now.

I came back here to see if anyone else was having problems with this. I still can't install it. I tried searching for it in the market, I've tried having someone else give me their APK, but no matter what, installation is always unsuccessful. Pandora is up to date too.

It is hilarious that the mode that they demonstrate doesn't work on the released phones. I told it to set an alarm for 7:30 AM and it told me that I needed to update the alarm clock applications. Go to the web site that it takes me too, and they apologize for 'not being available'….

Don’t understand why people are mad about waiting on Froyo for the X. Didn’t you know that it had 2.1 and wasn’t able to be fully rooted when you bought it? They announced that it would be updated in September and people are still complaining even though they should have known all of this. Just sayin. :-
