  • Believe the stage fright update has been pushed. Just and a update for security is available and I downloaded it and am installing now.

  • Good luck getting any support on your phone this year. As a droid maxx owner I’m pissed at the lack of updates. I’ll never get a droid again. Nexus 6p, timely updates, big battery. What a droid should aspire to be.

    • Yeah… the Droid Turbo har 3900mAh battery, and the Nexus 6p has 3450mAh…. Maybe I failed math and can’t see that the Droid Turbo has a bigger battery?

      • You did miss something, the nexus 6p has roughly the same size battery as the droid maxx. I didn’t say anything about the turbo other than good luck with updates on the 2nd year of the phone. The maxx got jack for support year 2.

  • As an owner of the Moto Maxx (GSM version of Droid Turbo), I am very piss off by the lack of support that Motorola has gave to the phone. We have being left in the cold without any update whatsoever. Motorola gave us a buggy 5.0.2 and has rejected to make comments about the future of the phone that is not 1 year old. They have given 5.1.1 to even the Moto G 2013 and forget about this phone that was release in Latin America and India for Top money. The problem is that technology new site have not hear us either, so we don’t have a voice to show that Motorola under Lenovo in a crappy company that will just support the phone that sell good or have a company like Verizon begin them. We need sites like Drod-Life denouncing this lack of support of Motorola so maybe if it becomes news Motorola is force to come upfront about the future of this phone.

    • I’ve been saying this since the phone came out, Verizon exclusive phones will never get “timely” updates…. No matter what phone it is.. Nay, the iPhone

      • That, above everything else, has pushed me towards Nexus. Specs be damned, a missing feature here or there doesn’t bother me. I just want updates, hell even security updates would be great, but my Droid Maxx was left out in the cold a long time ago.

      • His model isn’t the Droid model on Verizon though, it’s the version that is essentially the same device except for the bands it supports (no Verizon CDMA). Basically it’s an international version of the Droid Turbo sold outside the US with no ties to Verizon whatsoever.

  • The Turbo is the first phone I’ve ever put a case on. And that’s only because I have the 64GB model and my fingernails kept snagging on the ballistic nylon back… I bought the thinnest case I could find.

  • I’d rather go crazy and think this is an update to Android 6.0 without any logical reason to do so.

  • Two for you, Droid Turbo! You go, Droid Turbo!
Oh, Moto X 2013. Here you go, one for you!
And none for the 2013 Droids… Bye!

  • my SGS6 Edge+ also got an update a few days back; I’m guessing it was a StageFright patch as well

    • But at least they have Advanced Calling 1.0, something that is still missing from my OG Moto X….

      • Advanced Calling never seemed to work correctly on my Turbo. All it did was make me constantly drop calls. I had to turn off AC just to have a conversation longer than 2 minutes.

Haven’t turned AC back on in months, could this update possible fix that issue?

        • If advanced calling wasn’t working I would probably say its because Verizon’s rollout of the VoLTE network wasn’t up to spec in your area. I havnt heard of any issues specifically related to the Droid Turbo and Advanced Calling. Advanced Calling works perfectly between my unlocked unbranded Nexus 6 and my wife’s droid mini. I guess it is possible they will improve VoLTE stability with the updated, but my guess is this is the stagefright patch….

          • There are multiple threads of other Turbo users with these same issues with Advanced Calling at the Android Central forums. Seems to be a rather common occurrence with the Turbo, unfortunately.

          • As I don’t have a Turbo I don’t specifically seek out threads that have anything to do with the device. I’m not calling you a liar or anything like that just saying that I had not seen anything reported about the issue through the tech sites I cruse. But because of VZW’S CDMA/LTE network setup there’s still a possibility that your issus is network related and not a hardware/software issue….

    • A security update would be nice since they keep discovering all these vulnerabilities. I think I’m officially done with droid branded stuff. I was a long time holdout but my Maxx will likely be the last droid branded phone for me. I’m past specs and exclusivity, I just want timely and long-term updates.

  • Don’t worry Droid Turbo owners, you will be getting Marshmallow 6.0 sometime in August of next year.. Just remember it’s a “Flagship” Phone”. Kappa

    • This is probably just the Stagefright patch, not Android 6.0… I wouldn’t expect that it would get Marshmallow before the Nexus devices do…

    • I feel like it’d still be a better idea to go for the Moto X Pure, likely gonna be same/similar specs, but you’ll actually get more and timely updates. The droids get abandoned all too often.

  • Almost assuredly the Stagefright patch. Last info I’ve seen puts the Marshmallow update somewhere between December 2015 and February 2016, so I expect to see it in June 2016.

      • Yeah, think that was due to Verizon having VoLTE issues on the Lollipop update. I would expect the next updates to come a bit quicker.

      • Yes, yes it did. And I was one of the people impatiently waiting for it. But, once the 5.1 Lollipop came to the Turbo, it was a great update, and I haven’t experienced any issues that people complained about with the 5.0.x on other phones. I am glad that they waited for 5.1 for the Turbo because it seems that they got it right.

        • I had one ..bought it on day one of release…Can it even be used still lol..I thought about buying one on swappa just for fun

      • One of the most under-rated phones. No one cared enough to test but the pictures my sister takes with it are pretty stunning.

        • I don’t know how it compares to other phones, but I think my Turbo takes great pictures. I even recently had some car show pics blown up to 8×10 for a collage poster for a friend.

      • I honestly can’t think of a phone I care to “upgrade” to from my Turbo including the soon to arrive Droid Turbo 2. Great phone.

      • My dd just bought one and he said it’s awesome. Couldn’t wait for the new one though, old phone died.

    • I had my OG Droid and was here. I had it for about two months until it decided to dive head first into the toilet.

    • Sadly, the Droids of old and the new Droids are entirely different schools of thought. The old Droids were the cutting edge, with the newest features, the newest OS and so on. The Droids of late essentially seem to be branches of flagship Moto phones, with dated design features and incredibly slow updates or no updates at all. I’d say the Nexus phones feel more like the OG Droid’s successor more than the newer Droids.
