There is always quite a bit to talk about during this time of year, as we continue to approach the launch of a new Nexus smartphone, and even a new Nexus tablet from Google. However, Google is not the only company readying products, as Samsung and HTC are also set to launch new devices in the US, with the Note 4 from Sammy and possible One (M8) EYE from HTC.
During our Q&A Sessions, this is the time you, the reader, can ask us anything that might be on your mind that has to do with Android, Google, carriers, or anything else that strikes your fancy. For example, do we think the recently leaked photos of the Nexus 9 are appealing? Will the Galaxy Note 4 be worth the wait? Is Google and Motorola’s Shamu device way too big?
On Friday, we will compile a list of our favorite questions, then let the team have at them. Until then, shoot your questions below in the comments section.
To see all of our previous Q&A’s, check them out here.

With going through many review/test phones. Do you like the task of reloading everything to the phone each time (start fresh) or wish android was more like IOS and more of a sign in and everything was just as the last phone?
You guys do a lot of how-to type videos. Do you have to do any “hand-scaping” in order to have decent looking hands in the videos? I usually don’t look at men’s hands, but in your videos, I kinda have to.
rooof roof roof roooooooofffff bark
Will we ever see “Always listening” capabilities (like what the Moto X has) from other manufactures using the Snapdragon processors? I’ve heard they won’t do it due to licensing issues, but how much cost would it add per phone? It really annoys me that the technology is there, but no one is utilizing it. On a related note, does using an Android Wear device give you the same end result? It seems like it would. (PS – I already use the google now setting that allows listening anytime the phone screen is on, or it is charging, and it is a nice step in the right direction. But there is a huge advantage to being able to use Google Now with the screen turned off).
When will sheeple enjoy Xmpp Texting ?
when they can be bothered to highlight unknown terms with mouse, right click, and search?
Do you think there is any chance that more features will be added to he LG G watch R or moto 360 for that mater to enable hidden features like Wi-Fi ? From studying pictures of the G watch R it seems like the minute ticks on the bezel are really dark compared to the hour ticks, but just the right color of a lighter diffuser or LED lens. Do you think that the G watch R could have notification lights? Finally one report said that the side button on G watch R can be rotated to scroll. True or false?
Thank you,
No. Buy more hardware
why not hire a personal assistant to carry- and manage all your tech and time?
You guys ever go looking for classic games figuring they’d obviously be available for Android and find they’re not? I’ve been hoping for Burger Time and Spy Hunter.

Hangouts…seriously, what’s your take Google fanboys? Every time an update hits i I go back and give it another shot… Just can’t do it
Why do you think battery design/battery life has not seen the same pace of innovation as processors, software, displays, etc?
Adware
failure to /adopt/ improved LiOn chemistry
LiFePo4 for example, but there are more interesting LiOn advancements in terms of recharge time.
What are your thoughts on the double data plans being offered to lure people off of unlimited? As a Verizon user this seems like the best alternative with the introduction of throttling this month. Just want to get you guy’s opinions.
They cancelled the throttling for unlimited users, article posted here (and all over the place) less than a week ago.

I really want a Moto X 2014. As fans of the original, can you honestly recommend the new one?
My concerns:
1) Non-removable battery: acceptable screen-on-time over an 18 hour day.
2) Lack of storage space Also, why does the 32 GB model take up 8 GB of space where as the 16 GB model only takes up 6 GB? How is that even possible?
3) Screen being too dim in sunlight and too bright for nighttime reading/viewing.
4) Camera as my everyday capture tool because I don’t carry a DSLR with me everywhere.
Thanks for sharing your opinions to hesitant and prospective buyers with concerns!
The larger the storage, the more reserved space. It’s always like that. Compare a 128GB flash drive to a 1GB flash drive. It’s needed for room for formatting and other things.
No. It is a matter of magic design and substrate quality.

Will audio subsystem savage VoIP? In either sip UDP or sip TCP?
I don’t see why it would but can’t verify.
vitelity chose s3/s4 for audio system properties. maybe they will favor us with a Note 4 option, too?
vMobile ftw (unfortunately sprint backbone)
What is your 2014 phone of the year?
What do think of the time warner/comcast merger? Do you think the same thing could happen to the wireless companies?
Cronies
With the strained relations between the US and China over cyber-security, what do you think will happen to Motorola Mobility IF the Lenovo acquisition is not approved by CFIUS?
Soft fascism will continue growing unabated?
Motorola is still the only major player with a phone customization platform (motomaker). Do you think the other companies need to jump into the game with similar services or is it still too much of a niche market? If you could pick any phone to give the motomaker treatment which would you pick and how would it look?
Does it make sense to use the zoom feature in smartphone cameras or just to crop the picture at full resolution?
Unless your smartphone somehow has an optical zoom I don’t think it makes any sense to zoom in. If the light hitting the sensor doesn’t change then all you are doing is artificially reducing the number of pixels active.
I wouldn’t think so, either, but I see too many people around zooming in when taking pics that I thought maybe i’m missing something; like, is OIS more effective when zoomed in, is there more accurate focus, etc.
Those people just don’t understand how digital zoom works. Full resolution with cropping is a better option in most cases.
I’m not sure OIS is going to work any better, though the focus thing could be a real reason to zoom. I’ve definitely had problems getting the correct focus on smartphone cameras and tap-to-zoom is usually finicky, so if you limit the field that the software is looking at you might be able to get better/quicker focusing. You lose some information in the long run but I would rather have a smaller sharp picture than a bigger one with my subject blurred. The software should be able to make that a non-issue, but tell that to my N5.
Phones are not cameras.
All of my mms photos received and sent through hangouts to anyone no matter the device are super blurry and this frustrates me to no end. I have no idea why this is happening it never happened on my G2 but is on my new moto x.
That is MMS. Media server savages with lossy compression. Send URL of image for share.

Why don’t I have my Droid Turbo yet?
Because I don’t have mine!
When choosing a new device does the epic battery life of the Xperia Z3 trump the stock Android UI and rapid update of the Moto X (2nd gen)?
Considering how streaming services, digital book consumption and gaming have only been on the rise with tablets, how can you possibly find slates to be irrelevant considering most other Android blogs continue to review them? Especially since Android tablets have only gotten better. (SHIELD tablet, Nexus 7s, etc)
I’m hoping to get a good deal on an iPad mini for the wife with all these peoples saying their iPhone 6+ takes the place of it. Its all about the opportunity.
buy an older model to spend less
We reviewed both of the tablets you mentioned. The thing is, we don’t see a point in reviewing every Android tablet. Considering Samsung comes out with a new tablet every week, it would be silly. When new tablets are announced that we think are important to the market, we will review them. Nexus devices, SHIELD devices, etc.
What is the ultimate future of wearable tech look like? Smartwatch with holographic displays? Google Glass for all?
Privacy Rape ™ brought to others via Google glass. BigData will compete

When do you believe Android will implement dual window view as our phones reach tablet proportions and will Android L see a function similar to reachability on iOS 8, i.e. what will we see in Android L? Name picks?

I know this isnt a question to be featured but totally looking for help.
Google voice integration was turned on in hangouts. When people would call my cell it would ring through the phone dialer, if I didn’t answer it would start ringing again through the hangouts dialer. what gives, how do i stop this?
Turned it off, the other day I apparently missed a phone call. found a voicemail sitting in hangouts but no record of the call ever coming through on my phone. girlfriend said my tablet rang through google hangouts. no idea why it did that or how thats even possible. all phone calls were placed to my cell #. what am i doing wrong here.
/help!
Anveo
ask yourself why google BRIDGES two call legs for “free” calling.
(hint: google is the third party in all your calls)
Do you think smartwatches will become mainstream in 2015?
More specifically, “Does Android Wear have a real future, or is it just a gimmick?” (think calculator watches from the ’80s)
Which feature of Android L are you most excited about?
Menu button dearth 🙁
I would like to buy an unlocked, large-battery Motorola phone (like the Droid Maxx) to use with a T-Mobile SIM. Will this ever be possible, or do they only make these for Verizon? Thanks.

What are your Go-To blends of technology in your lives? Desktop, HTPC, TV-Dongle, Laptop, Tablet, Phablet, Phone, SmartWatch, Glass(es), DSLR, Mirrorless, Point-Shoot, 35mm, MP3 player, Bluetooth Speakers, Activity Trackers, Etc.
I figure each person has their own blend that hits their needs: Windows Desktop, iPad, MotoX, Fitbit
I second this one!
I’ve noticed that the videos have had a jump in quality and production value over the last year or so. Have other sites and people(MKBHD, Michael Fisher from PocketNow etc) influenced you guys on how you do videos?
I’ve noticed this too. There used to be a ton of voice reverb in Kellen’s videos but now he either changed rooms or speaks into an actual microphone. At first I thought he was beginning to record videos and then talk over them after filming lol
His voice is so soothing, lol
Youtard is to blame in combination with naive tolerance.
What strategy do you think Motorola needs in order to be able to compete with the likes of Samsung and LG as far as sales go? Do you think Lenovo will help Motorola or ruin them?
Non-google clouding for push et al
Do you think the Note 4 Edge will ever gain more than a niche following? Will devices of this type (curved display tech) become the next “thing” in mobile device development?
Technically it’s just called the Note Edge. Do you even tech bro?
Haters gonna hate.
The Biggest cop-out “hater’s going to hate” For people who can not come up with a rational statement to defend their position on a subject matter. It’s old, it’s ignorant and needs to stop
As big a cop out as “U mad bro?” 🙂 In the interests of full disclosure though, Plunk is a friend IRL and was doing this mostly to get my goat. So my reply was mostly in response to his jab at me.

This is not a question that lends itself to format here, but i was very much wondering if we will see the gray leather with suede finish from the 360 band as an option for the back of the moto x, maybe someone has some insider info as to if we might see this in the future.
Find a local hotrod fabricator
Everyone is raving about the Z3, but more specifically, the Z3 Compact. Considering the fact that only the regular Z3 is coming to T-Mobile and that’s basically it for the US, do you think it’s worth it to pay $500 for the Z3 Compact all at once (since I can’t pay it off over the months with T-Mo)?
How have you been enjoying the phone, Kellen? Living up to the hype?
These phones are too potent to limit to one carrier. Spread them far and wide, I say.
In what ways do you think the buying of phones will evolve? I.e., as they become less of a “new” product to show off, will people stop being willing to pay top dollar?
Move toward thin client model
What is your daily gear? It doesn’t have to be just phone.
Suggestion: Maybe a post per writer of what you all carry every day?
How many words can each of you type per minute on average?
What do you make of the Nexus X/6 to Verizon rumors?
If it’s that while of a device, it won’t make me give up my M8. Even if I have longed the days for another nexus on VZW
It sounds like it’ll be large, but not much more so than the Note 2/3.
Will this be finally the device that Google said they were working with Verizon on? Last November Google did say they were working on 2 devices for 2014.
Favorite breakfast food?

I like pretty, dark haired women for breakfast.
“social” media encourages this type of voyeurism (and exhibitionism)
iPhone 6 or Moto X?
Whichever better avoids BigData temptations
Do the guys at Droid Life think tablets are still relevant with smartphones getting larger? Will anyone need a tablet in 3 or 4 years?
Some say that Tim has six webbed toes on each foot, and that his great-great-great-uncle invented the postage stamp.
There should be more <5" flagship phone options. Not everyone wants a phablet.
I'm with Kellen in that there is a sweet spot as far as size, and too many current models overshoot it. The Xperia Z3 Compact and Galaxy Alpha are good examples of an ideal size for practical, daily use.
I think that the screen size sweet spot moved with the shrinking of bezels. We used to say that the 3.7″ OG Droid screen was ideal.
I do agree, however, that there is a sweet spot with the body size on phones with screens around 5.0″ or so, now.
Hand size governs
Agreed. It’s all about the size & shape of dat bawdy.

What are your personal opinions on other tech related news sites, e.g. TechnoBuffalo, The Verge, and Android Police?
Not sure what answer you expect but you won’t get negative ones.
I’m not expecting a negative answer, I just legitimately want their opinions
Besides droid life what is their favorite tech blog. I wanna know.
my parents inlaw recently purchased a fantastic green Infiniti QX80 SUV only from working online…pop over to this website VISIT HERE
TB is a good site, The Verge is a little Apple sided, but still good. No clue on AP.
Well I think AP’s traffic will go up significantly knowing that you don’t visit that site. 🙂
They don’t seem relevant or that big. So good for them.
You’d be surprised at how many other sites cite AP for their source in a lot of articles, DL included.
Those are not articles. Those are bookmark commentaries.
Tyler Durden not visiting AP is probably as good of a reason as any for everyone else to start
AP is awesome. They often have first scoop on news and interviews and leaks. Their opinion pieces are awesome and their reviews are super detailed. Their writers are very funny and talented, and they regularly converse with commenters. It’s my favorite site.
I really like the last part you mentioned, where the authors or site mods comment with the readers. I see it here sometimes but I feel they do it a lot more over at AP. not to be a knock towards anyone, just something I’ve noticed.
And they still review tablets, unlike certain sites that somehow find them irrelevant *cough*
In my opinion, anything owned by Gawker and Vox Media (Vox with a V, not Fox) should be avoided like the plague. Gizmodo and The Verge are terrible, very bias and always bring up politics and their political leanings when they’re not needed. ArsTechnica is also garbage. Engadget is okay as is CNET. Although, personally, I think niche tech blogs like Droid-Life work best.
Anything with “buffalo” in its name should have instant credibility, IMO
i love buffalo tech NAS devices 🙂
Burning money is fun
Techmeme is definitely #1 for new “breaking” stories.
I like TB’s articles but oh my god the comments make me think if the world suddenly exploded, nothing of value would be lost
To add to that, when you go to I/O, do you hang out with fellow competitor sites? Is it tense or does everyone mostly get along?
What possible features do you guys think may appear in L that haven’t been leaked/seen in the beta builds already?
And when are we getting a Girls of Android Swimsuit calendar?
