Not fond of the gallery application featured on your Droid X? Doesn’t it feel like the simple 2.0.1 gallery we had back in the early Droid 1 days? Then feel free to check out the 2.1 multi-touch gallery that was ported long ago! Thankfully a couple of our fantastic readers reminded us of the old moneymaker and now we want to forward that reminder on to you.
So far I haven’t run into any major issues, but being a ported app, it will have some minor bugs. But hey, at least it pulls in your Picasa albums right?

And as always, this will remain in our downloads section for safe keeping.

We just received some updated shipment schedules for those of you waiting on a new Droid X or Incredible to arrive at your doorstep. Oh, we also got some sad news for the original Droid family member, which shouldn’t come as much of a surprise…
Droid Incredible Orders:
Droid X Orders:
Droid 1 Status:
The new breed is starting to ship in bundles and the original’s life has come to an end. Sad? Happy? We already knew that Motorola had stopped production on the D1, but the replacement announcement coming in August should pique your interest a little.
Should be the Droid 2 right?
If you want a Droid X running Android 2.2, just head over to eBay. Apparently that’s where one of our readers picked up his brand new 4.3″ beast which is running the frozen treat we’re still hoping arrives on all devices next week.
In the gallery below we’ve got a shot of “apps to SD”, the System Info and Settings pages, plus the “About” screen. Need more proof than that? Oh yeah, Flash is installed.
This is likely a test build, but still nice to see. If testers are selling their devices running Froyo on eBay, I’d guess we are getting close to release right?

On semi-disappointing/confusing note, he was able to send us Quadrant benchmarks and you won’t be impressed. In fact, he ran it twice and both came in well below the numbers you get on a stock 2.1 DX…

And maybe I should have said that these would start showing up on an hourly basis.
Another Droid X Froyo sighting. And this time we have a picture of the full phone instead of just a screenshot. Anyone else feeling even more skeptical about this one than the last though? Same baseband and system version as the 2.1 Droid X we all currently have seems a little odd. We would normally expect both of those to be updated. (Shrug.)
I’m starting to get the feeling that we’ll be seeing these popping up on a daily basis until the OTA finally rolls out. Aren’t you?
So we’ve got an “official” Incredible Android 2.2 leak, 2 shots of the Droid X “allegedly” running it and who knows how many builds for the Droid 1 in the wild. I guess next Friday is starting to look more and more legit.

Another full page Droid X ad is hitting newspapers tomorrow and it takes a wonderful shot at the i*hone and its ridiculous free bumper giveaway…
At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That’s why the DROID X comes with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a bulky phone jacket. For us it’s just one of those things that comes as a given when you’ve been making mobile phones for over 30 years.
Apple, we’re laughing at you again.
If you missed the last one, check it here.

If you do not currently own a Droid X, Verizon sure wants to get you into one. We saw the promo flyer from earlier that they are sending out to customers, including some that bought the Droid 1 back in November which under normal circumstances would have no business upgrading early. We’ve received forwarded emails from readers that Verizon is pushing to upgrade plus this video message that went out to a Blackberry owner…
This is the time people! With all of this promo material flying around, you should easily have a strong case for them to allow you to upgrade. Well, assuming that you would even want to. Good luck!
Cheers Mark!
