Samsung Unveils Galaxy Note 3 in Rose Gold, We Think It’s Hot

Rose Gold, anyone? Samsung announced a new colorway this weekend for the Galaxy Note 3, and yes, it is Rose Gold. We may be alone for the moment, but we think it’s pretty hot, considering the Gold is only used as sort of an accent, and doesn’t take up much of the body color. It’s subtle, and most definitely sexy in our opinion.

As for when, and if, the Galaxy Note 3 in Rose Gold will ever hit the States, your guess is as good as ours. There was no indication on Samsung’s blog as to when and if we would see it on American carriers.

Are you hoping it hits the U.S.?

People who buy phones to “look classy” are quite often just the opposite…

    • NotSoldOnGold

“It’s” “not” “that” “they” “buy” “phones” “to” “look” “classy” “but” “they” “don’t” “want” “to” “buy” “phones” “that” “are” “gaudy” “and” “ugly”……………………

      “””””””” ………..

  • Eff_Dish

They should make it a wood body with rose gold accents. I mean, if you’re going to go for repulsive and tacky go all out!

  • NotSoldOnGold

I like the Note 3 but not with this look. I’m not impressed.Looks extremely corny and has about as much class as a lawn flamingo.Has any gold phone ever really sold well? Why do the companies keep making these eyesores?

  • sfasljkas

    I like it definitely

  • fauxshizzl

Saying that is a rose gold phone is worse than saying the MotoX with a white back is a white phone. Samsung unveils Galaxy Note 3 with rose gold accents at best.

  • Maximus

How about any phone in 3 colors just looks weird, unless they are sporting a team logo. This phone looks ugly with its coppertone skins.

  • Geekout

When I think to myself that a phone is hot, I re-evaluate my life and wonder if I should be getting out of the house more often… On another note, Rose Gold, sounds like a stripper name.

  • Huy

this is making my eye hurt

  • djdsf

So, the Note is 3 months old, by the time this comes out in the US, the phone will be 5-7 months old, at best, you will have 5-6 months before the new Note 4 comes out, which means that you just bought a “Rose Gold” (seriously, it looks like copper, actual rose gold has a stronger “pink” color) phone that’s half a year old and will be 1 generation behind the new one and will be a higher price (I’m thinking $1,000) for essentially outdated tech…

    • Adrynalyne

1,000 bucks for gold-colored plastic trim?

Samsung is not that stupid. If it comes to the US, it will be for the same price as a regular Note 3, or MAYBE a 50 dollar premium.

    • David

I’m thinking you are deluded. it won’t be a grand.

  • Alex B

    Quite Kardoucheian

  • laheelahee

so it’s coming to the US… when?

  • LSH99

I couldn’t care less about the rose gold; it’s the faux leather stitching on that thing that is unbelievably terrible.

    • Keg Man

i like it as well as many others

  • ddevito

Samsung, stop sweating Apple’s c0ck, it’s getting old

    • Tim242

      Gold belongs to Apple?

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Very Meh… It’s CES time. New gadgets please.

  • bnm27

  • Tim Aries

yes every-samsung-thing is hot to Droid Life now, how about naming yourself Galaxy Life as well?

    • Chris

na its more like moto life

      • Tim Aries

        used to be

  • ImmaDroid

    OMG Rose Gold??

  • ImmaDroid

    OMG Rose Gold?

  • Alix8821

Love the black one… Rose Gold is legit

  • Eduardo Ortiz

Why is everyone saying that all manufactures releasing gold phones are copying apple? As far as i remember, Motorala was the first OEM to make and sell a gold phone. The Razr V8

    • Manny

Do you live under a rock ???

    • George264

but faux gold in phones in the time between razr and iphone 5s was pretty rare
real gold in 10k luxury phones, yes, but after the 5s, the One has come in real gold and gold colored models, and Samsung has followed suit, so in a way the 5s did bring the gold color into the mainstream phone market. I think it’s pretty good looking, it’s a light shade of gold, not really noticeable in some lights but slightly flashy. real gold on the other hand or high gloss gold on plastic looks really tacky and similar to a 10$ knockoff gold watch. The One and iPhone rock it though.
the note seems to be in the high gloss area but i can’t really tell from the pictures.

      • NexusMan

Google “gold phones” and you’ll see just how untrue that statement is.

        • George264
          • Adrynalyne

What does it matter? If only a popular device starts using it, it is suddenly innovative?

          • Keg Man

if you are an apple fanboy, yes, that is exactly their logic

          • NexusMan

I didn’t realize your post mentioned anything about what I see people in the street using. But to answer your question, I do recall seeing people in the past with gold Nokia, Motorola and Samsung phones. However, I have NEVER seen anyone in the street using the current round of Gold smartphones…Apple iPhones included.

          • Keg Man

never seen anyone using the gold iphone and thank god because its ugly and tacky for apple and samsung

      • moew

Moto during the time of the RAZR V8, had introduced the gold version into the MAINSTREAM PHONE MARKET.

Not sure what George264 is trying to obfuscate there. Someone should search on youtube for “funny cat videos” or ask it “what does the fox say”.

      • zurginator

Well the Droid (1) had gold trim, and several of the HTC aluminum phones had a goldish brown tint as well.

    • alzeis

I think Gucci also made a gold phone way back in the day. Abd if you ever saw oceans 12 Al Pachino got a gold Samsung phone …so who is copying who ?

  • Collin Chapin

I can’t wait for these to come down in price so I can pick one up…

  • SeanPlunk

The white is passable, the black is heinous.

    • jim

heinous ? really ? must have learned a new word today

      • SeanPlunk

No, but I will admit to looking it up to make sure I spelled it correctly :p

        • jim

black is what you want, white shows dirt so bad, wife has a gs3 in white, constantly cleaning it

          • SeanPlunk

I never had much of a problem with dirt on my white Note II, but then again I take really good care of my devices. The Dev Edition Note 3 only comes in black so I have that now and I must admit I prefer it.

          • jim

wifes loves my Note 3,thinking it might be her next phone when she updates, Note 4 may be out by then lol

          • SeanPlunk

Or, give her the Note 3 and you buy the Note 4. Winning all the way around 🙂

          • jim

she is way to smart for that move lol

          • Dominick_7

It actually came out? Was waiting for the Note 2 one to, but it never did.. If it’s unlocked does that mean you don’t need to root it? How do you like it? Been wanting a developer edition to not have to deal with third party xda software but wanted to know how it worked.

          • SeanPlunk

It’s out, but Samsung seems to be releasing batches of about 20 at a time and they sell out quickly. I LOVE mine. It comes with an unlocked bootloader, but is not rooted out of the box. It runs all the TMobile recoveries and ROMS though including the Cyanogen alpha that’s out. I’m on TWRP running Beans 5 right now.

Here is a link to the device on Samsung’s site, but it looks like it’s currently backordered again:

          • Dominick_7

Cool but what’s the point of you still have to use third party software to root it? Motorola and I think HTC also have their own rooting software..

          • SeanPlunk

It’s no work, you just load SuperSu on the SD card and flash it after you load TWRP. It took roughly 5 seconds.

          • Dominick_7

You’re kind of missing my point. I can get a non developer edition and do that right, but if I still have to do that with the developer edition why bother getting it? The reason I wanted to get it was too not have to use a good party software to have to root it, I don’t trust xda. I don’t trust corporations including Samsung as they’re all in bed with new but at very least with getting a method from them directly I am getting something official. There are also some standards for customer servicewiththem. Xda terrible with that.

          • SeanPlunk

I kind of get what you’re saying, but flashing SuperSu isn’t a big deal and is preferable to using Kingo Root. It’s not like you have to run a script or something to root the dev version.

          • Dominick_7

Sorry had major correct fail in the last reply which I corrected. Does supersu inject code or manipulate things where it would void the warranty?

          • Adrynalyne

What does she do, drop it in the dirt? My note 3 has yet to show dirt and it is white.

    • kixofmyg0t

      That’s racist.

  • Thomas

    Ghettofabulous 😉

  • Diablo81588

    Hideous. Copycat samsung strikes again..

    • Adrynalyne

How dare Samsung use a color that someone else has? They should innovate and invent their own colors. /s

      • Diablo81588

Apple releases gold, Samsung releases gold a few months later. Don’t deny the coincidence.. It’s blatantly obvious..

        • Adrynalyne

Apple wasn’t the first with a gold phone. Maybe we should blame them for blatantly stealing colors….or…. We could realize that colors aren’t original for anyone.

          • Diablo81588

I never said they were the first, only that Samsung released a gold variant in direct response to Apple. They also announced that they would release a phone with a 64bit processor, again, IMMEDIATELY after Apple released theirs. Get over your obsession for defending Samsung fanboy. They are nothing but blatant copycats, plain and simple.

          • Adrynalyne

Wow you must be new. You are the ONLY person on discus that has called me that. I usually hear that I am a Moto fanboy and Samsung hater.

Sadly this breaks down communications because it shows you arent intelligent enough to converse without petty name-calling.

Maybe you can understand this: it is just the trim that is gold. Hardly iPhone-esque.

The note 3 with gold trim resembles an iPhone as much as a Kia resembles an Audi because they both have four wheels.

          • Diablo81588

I’m not new, and I’m actually a Moto fanboy. I’ve owned nothing but Moto devices since my first smartphone, the Droid X. Its just irritating when people blindly defend a company that constantly piggybacks on the innovation of others, just because they make the device they currently own. For the record, I generally hate Apple. The only reason I have an iPad Mini is due to the fact that the company I work for gave it to me for business purposes.

          • Adrynalyne
          • Adrynalyne

What kind of half-wit downvotes something that is fact?

          • Tim242

Moto has screwed its customers many times over. Colors aren’t ;piggy-backing innovation. Samsung has innovated more than any other manufacturer. You are blind if you don’t see that.

          • JoshGroff

Software wise, no one can argue with that, definitely not someone that’s owned a Note 2/3. Googorola is shaping up to be a pretty solid 2nd OEM, and I quite enjoy my unlocked Moto X, and its unlocked bootloader. (Certainly hard to beat for the price.)

          • Liderc

What you have to understand is stuff like this starts pre-production months, possibly years before it comes out. I’m not entirely disagreeing but people should understand that manufacturers don’t just copy what people release instantly, they’ve probably had this in the pipeline for a long, long time. Which most likely means Apple just happened to come out prior to Samsung, but that doesn’t mean Samsung is copying them. And as it’s been pointed out, Apple is certainly not first to release a gold colored phone. Saw tons of gold phones back in the day, especially Razrs.

          • Diablo81588

Again, my point was not that Apple created the first gold phone, only that Samsung created a gold version in direct response to Apple’s release. Also, you can’t tell me that Samsung couldn’t create a gold colored version of their phone in the 3 months or so since the gold iPhone was released. If we were talking a complete redesign I would agree, but this could be done in the matter of weeks.

          • Liderc

You’re missing the point though. Things like this are created over a long period of time, you don’t just punch out gold shells for a new device. It takes time to get this type of stuff into production, and there is absolutely no way to know whether they did this in response to Apple’s gold version or not.

          • Diablo81588

Then Samsung is the king of coincidence. If this was the first incident, then its possible. But, on almost every product release, they seem to have a knack for releasing similar looks and features of their competitors.

          • Tim242

Motorola put a fingerprint scanner on the Atrix. Apple copied that. HTC put one on the One Max. They copied that. See where I’m going here?

          • Maxim∑

Touch ID works best though 🙂

          • Tim242

HTC released a gold One. Haven’t seen you jumping at them.

          • LionStone

It’s true… Remember when Apple came out with the ipad2? Sammy said, oh damn we got work to do… and voila! It came out with a tiny bit thinner Galaxy Tab 10.1 in very short order!

          • Tim Aries

brace yourself buddy, there are tons of samesung fanboys here trying to act like “hey i’m not even a fan of samsung”
btw, is this shameful enough admitting yourself as samsung fanboy seriously ?

          • Tim242

How dare anyone be a fan of the most popular Android manufacturer out there. Without them, Android would be dead by now.

          • Eric

You just went full retarded bro.

          • Adrynalyne

          • Intellectua1

          • Adrynalyne

More like without Android, Samsung’s mobility market hold would be dead by now.

          • Tim Aries

            ^ This

          • Adrynalyne

I think everyone here knows I am not a Samsung fanboy. It is just ridiculous to call a company copycat on a color. Nothing in the shape, function, or even location of the color gold looks like an iPhone.

          • Tim Aries

this line is not about you mate, and I used to have a painful fight with iFan about copycat little things, but it’s not guilty casting doubt on the coincident of samesung progress anyway

          • Tim242

HTC released a gold One a while back. Stop hating.

          • HitokiriX

They announced they were going to release the processor or were they asked about it and then it was spun as if they called someone just to say it? Also, Samsung used gold colored phones before Apple even had a phone. And started selling the gold version of the S4 two days before before the iPhone was officially unveiled.

          • Higher_Ground

… it’s not copycat it’s simply getting beat to the punch. They wouldn’t annouce something literally right after Apple if it wasn’t at least in some sort of post-conception stage of production.
Samsung copies a lot of things but when virtually every phone manufacturer is moving in the same direction it’s not copying. It’s like when people try to say that every smart phone copied the iphone or ever tablet copied the ipad simply because Apple had the first commerically successful models.

I wonder if the same people accused Sharp, Samsung, LG, Sony, etc for “copying” each other when they moved from CRT to plasma to LCD and LED tvs…

Samsung also does a lot of stuff that’s nothing like Apple, like the pebble blue from the S3 and the fake leather back of the note 3. They are pretty much the modern definition of throwing a ton of stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.

    • Dominick_7

Omg Apple uses materials to build a piece of tech and then Samsung uses materials to build a piece of tech, copyright infringement! When Apple stops using Samsung parts maybe you can try this Lars Ulrich nonsense that is along the lines of him allegedly wanting to copyright the E chord.

  • Zain Kalwani

Don’t you mean the girl behind the phone who is hot???

  • jim

love this phone more everyday, no other phone even comes close to it

  • ApplesNAndroids

    Extremely tacky

  • Enough already! If there’s one thing Android manufactures should do that Apple does, it’s release all colors at once.

    • Adam Jacobson

Yeah like releasing different color phones should be a huge thing to work on!

      • Adrynalyne

Market saturation is the name of the game. Some are actually dense enough to feel this is a big enough reason to buy Another note 3.

        • Higher_Ground

It also makes people think it’s a *new* phone even though it’s the exact same model that came out months ago. I guess the only good thing is that most of the colors released later on haven’t appealed to me, but the other drawback is that like with the Moto X, if you wanted a wood back, you’re waiting so long that you’d be tempted to buy a different phone or color and be really PO’d when it came out a little later.

  • ahhh yes

The top pic looks like the black one has a white back

  • dennis laska

    Gold plastic, kool

  • Jack Skin

Is it genuine gold to match the genuine leather back?

    • jim

have no idea why people complain out the back, it has a great feel and would anyone really want a real leather back ? , besides making the phone cost more,it would quickly dry and fade out from wear, this phone is awesome

  • Michael Sahaid

Apple: And if you squint your eyes, it looks like a gold iPhone 5S.

    • Maxim∑

if i squint my eyes it looks like a note 3

  • Rodeojones000

So amazingly ugly I can’t even come up with a witty response.

  • RoadsterHD1

Hear come Apple lawyers…… Can you see them??? on the horizon… LOL

    • Adrynalyne

Apple is allowed to patent colors now?

      • RoadsterHD1

It’s Apple…. of course they are… 🙂 They sue everybody.

  • Jacob Ignagni

    Another year…another lawsuit…

    • Adrynalyne

For what? If there was anything that didn’t look or act like an iPhone, the Note 3 is it.

    • Justin

So I’m assuming HTC shall be sued as well with their Gold HTC One? Considering the HTC One looks more like an Iphone in general “when compared to the Note 3”

      • Jacob

Samsung won’t be sued, and they really shouldn’t be, it was more of a joke than anything. It’s just hard to deny that Samsung is in the market to directly compete with Apple. Apple made a gold phone, and Samsung is responding to that. It’s not a bad thing, and it’s competition, but it is fairly shameless.

        • jt O’Brien

Don’t you know that Apple invented and patented the color gold???

      • chris125

HTC made the entire phone gold. Samsung is just the trim which is exactly what apple did so I assume that is where he is coming from. But hey apple is sue happy so it wouldn’t surprise me if they actually did sue for this, since they are suing for devices no longer even being sold.

        • Justin

Did you even see the gold Iphone?, The Back is gold as well, just the top and bottom of it is made in aluminium

          • Keg Man

now that you mentioned it, I have never seen the gold iphone in the wild

  • Omar Amer

o.O has Rose Gold become code for Copper?

    • BananaBob

Literally thought the same thing.. How do we know its not copper?

      • AshtonTS

        Because it’s plastic

        • BananaBob

Oh thats right, they can only make Rose Gold color plastic but not Copper

          • moew

Why would you want metal? It’ll screw with the reception, and you’ll have to hold the Note III a certain way for it to work!!!

          • JoshGroff

Not to mention the increased thermal conductivity.

      • Keg Man

copper is way too $$$$ to use as a material

    • Patrick Jewell

Rose Gold is a Gold-Copper Alloy.

  • Adrynalyne

They knew we didn’t want Kitkat. Nooooo, we want a rose-gold Note 3!

    • Jake

lol like this has anything to do with the Note 3 not having kitkat…

      • Adrynalyne

Clearly sarcasm is wasted on you.
