Add March 3rd and 4th to the HTC Thunderbolt Launch Date Rumor List

Since today is February 24th and the Thunderbolt is still missing, it’s time to jump onto a new rumored date that the trolls can flock to the comments over.  How does March 3rd or 4th sound?  According to a Roseville Best Buy, we could see the device next Thursday or Friday, although it’s tough to believe that after having gone through at least 10 other leaks like this from BBY stores.  And so you know, the tweet from above has been pulled already.

To help their story some though, we have another March 3rd or 4th sighting from a random forum member who supplied pics from a “VIP” event where they were told when they could expect it to be in stores.  We have no clue what to believe anymore, so we’ll just let you guys have at it.  Vapor.    

I do want to add the fact that I spoke with a couple people who I would definitely qualify as “in the know” on Verizon happenings and they still had no clue when this thing would drop.  And no, I’m not talking about your average VZW rep either.  It’s sounding to me like Big Red is going week-by-week with this one.

    This phone better not have one report of any software, hardware glitch or any problems whatsoever. Not to mention at this rate where is my Android 2.4 instead of 2.2… on second though when is the Samsung (insert name) LTE coming out?

    I agree with the garbage surrounding this phone, however, the benefit of getting this phone at launch would be that u get a chance to lock in the unlimited data for 4g at 29.99 for the duration of your contract so everyone that hesitates will have to pay whatever ridiculous price verizon deems worthy since they are so f**king expensive.

    The confirmed release date is the following….March 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th….you get the picture. At least if we announce all the days we make sure we are covered.

    All the 4G rage is dumb! How many of you will actually have 4G where you live right now, yeah not many.

    I’m glad I have to wait a year, by then 4G will be more widespread. It would suck to get a new 4G phone and not utilize the new speed. Funny how the site never talks about that factor, it’s like their paid to just post ads to hype it and not talk about real things.hmmm

      It covers 120 million people already. That is more than a third of the US population. It will cover half the population by June, two thirds by November. My area (Central Arkansas) is in the next list of areas to get it, in the next few months. It is being tested already. I think you are underestimating its reach.

    My contract with ATT was up 6 months ago and I was eagerly awaiting for the Thunderbolt and to sign up with Verizon but after seeing this fiasco and watching Verizon show so little respect for their customers and potential customers I will be going back to ATT and purchasing a Atrix at 10 am tomorrow.

      I am also about to stay with AT&T and buy a new Atrix. Although I really wanted a Droid Bionic, I was willing to settle for a Thunderbolt to go with Verizon. But I am tired of waiting. I don’t have a smartphone now and I need one ASAP.

    I hope you are reading these comments, Verizon. Yeah, Yeah we know that you never publicly announced a release date but you had EVERY opportunity to extinguish all the rumors that were spreading. You are about to lose customers and business, I hope you succeeded in whatever you were trying to do because it was a supreme FAIL. You have possibly got the most buzz on the first Verizon 4G LTE phone and you absolutely blow it. The clock is ticking……hope you can get your act together (end rant)

      They originally said February. They also tweeted in early Feb. that we would be seeingit sooner than expected. Then they set the 14th as release date for BBY ammnd let them presale.

    it’s sad when the only news for the past two weeks on an upcoming phone is continual notifications of delays. something must be really wrong with the network or the phone. I’m betting on the phone having the issues seeing as how the 4g cards are all being used.

    It doesn’t look like their waiting on Skype.Verizon is no longer showing the skype feature on their web site.

    Verizon’s twitter says “We share excitement about the HTC Thunderbolt! When there’s actual news, you’ll get it here. Until then, on to other topics.” So I’m going to assume that Best Buy’s date is wrong, again.

    Pass. I gave Verizon till today to get there act together. At least to announce it or even comment on it. Yeah all these dates have gone through the rumor mill, but this hush hush nonsense from Verizon is enough to lose me as a customer. Who knows what the hold up is, the 14-day iphone conspiracy, skype, hotspot, 4G…blah blah blah. Whatever it is Verizon must have jumped the gun and as a customer this product doesn’t sound like its going to be very successful with the things that might be holding it back. They can have their their Thunderbolt along with their failed launch. I’ll find a different carrier that is willing to speak to their “valued” customers.

    So I was out drumming up some news today. I went to 2 best buys (one said they had no clue, the other swore the 28th) While in the best buy store the verizon rep stopped in and pestered her… she told it the dates of the 24th and 28 where real… but Verizon has now just stated TBD…. with no date in site… Hang in there folks!

    As sad as it is to say. Even if the Inspire was the exact same phone (not quite because I really need the kickstand of the Tbolt.) I’d still have to pay the extra $200. Why? Because thats just how horrible AT&T is, at least in my area. Horrible phone service and horrible customer service. I have not known one single person on AT&T that has been happy with their service. One-two years later after contract and they are on Verizon or Sprint or even T-Mobile. Thats right, I said T-Mobile. So common Verizon get your act together and let me have my phone. :-(

      I’m happy with my AT&T service. No dropped calls. Fast download speeds (2 – 5 Mbps). With a custom ROM, decent uploads (.6-1 Mbps).

      I am quite happy with my AT&T service. Customer service is fine and calling is fine. I’ve had Verizon and there are spotty places here in South Texas, where “Can you hear me now?”, well no one can hear you. You also don’t get global calling outside of the US plus no data and voice at the same time. It’s a one way tube with Verizon. Only one thing come in or out. Listening to all these Verizon subscribers is like listening to those silly Apple people go on and on about all the blow jobs they get from Steve Jobs. Verizon has these people the same way. Get a life people.

      You sir, are correct. I’m currently on at&t and waiting for this phone to drop, so i can jump ship. If at&t gave me a free inspire I still wouldn’t stay, the reception is that bad. So i guess i will continue to wait :(

        I’m on the same boat as you! Both my wifes and my phone are failing miserably in service and our phones are a couple months past due for replacement as some features don’t work anymore. the day this phone is out were switching.

All the videos of the bionic show the phone to be pretty slow and choppy despite the “dual core beast” and it’s not just blur either… why not get this phone, wait the 20 month contract out, then get a really good 2nd gen. dual core that can actually run smoothly or if you want- get one of those quad core phones from NVIDIA. Win-win

      The T-Bolt is more powerful than the Inspire. More storage, faster 4G network, front-facing camera, better battery capacity (for LTE), and more streamlined design (smaller and lighter but retaining same screen dimensions).

        Same ARM CPU core (just adds CDMA and LTE). 18 Minutes more battery life. Same overall design. FFC, storage and Verizon’s flavor of 4G doesn’t make up for the huge price difference.

          Yup, the same exact gen. 2 Snapdragon ARM CPU. Just has CDMA and LTE added to the SOC. Same amount of RAM too.

            Ya, if AT&T didn’t price the Inspire $150-$200 cheaper than the Thunderbolt, I would get it. With such a huge price difference and a not so huge phone difference, I changed my mind.

            not the same CPU. Inspire has a Snapdragon MSM 8255, and the Thunderbolt has the Snapdragon MSM8655

          The main reason to get the Thunderbolt is if you have LTE coverage and would actually make use of the extra speed. I won’t see LTE until 2 phones from now anyway. Everything else on the phone doesn’t make up for the high price tag. How many people actually do video calling. I’d prefer to use a computer for that anyway. Even on the *gasp* iPhone, it’s not used much past the initial wow period.

          It’s that 32GB microSD! Those are REALLY EXPENSIVE!

            32GB microSD cards cost $40 – $70. Everything else on the Thunderbolt are almost useless: front facing camera (when you get it tell me how often you use it), stand (almost anything can prop up a phone) and 18 minutes more of battery life (whoopie).

            The $250-$300 Thunderbolt is an overpriced $100 Inspire.

    If pre-orders opened and this phone was ANNOUNCED for today, I would be an owner of it, but now I don’t even think I want it anymore. Waiting for the Bionic cause dual core this year and quad core next year.

      I’d be happy with a one-year contract on the T-Bolt until 2.4 and multi-core apps (games, especially) come out. Also, like how the T-Bolt is so much faster than the EVO, I’d rather wait for a second-gen dual-core or quad-core device before taking the leap of faith. The size of the dual-core devices is also unattractive.

    It sounds like they are actually trying to get everything working on a product before its launch… that would be sweet especially with the XOOM launching with so many things, either not working, about to be working or will be working once the device has been shipped to its manufacturer and then back to its owner a few months down the road. With that being said and tomorrow being pay day I will be playing with my XOOM real soon!

    Spoke to a BB rep today when I went to check out the Xoom. He said definitely the 28th. I know it means nothing coming from Best Buy at this point, but at least its a shred of hope for February. I’m getting more and more turned off to the Thunderbolt as the days go by without an announcement

          March 4th is a week + 2 days after the event you attended, so it is still in the general time period.

          Anywhere between the 2nd and 4th is likely, especially since there have been THREE new Thunderbolt commercials aired this week alone.

          Chances are it will be on Thursday.
