  • Bah, and here I was, hoping they were announcing a good, larger capacity portable music player to replace my 64GB Zune when I outgrow it, seeing as Microsoft has killed that product line.

  • The real question is, being that it’s a Nexus device…can you root it? lol

    • Love the ICS blue glow. Google just needs to rebrand the Android robot into blue and leave “Puke Green” behind..

  • This makes me think it is some accessory. Saying you need an android tablet or phone, speakers TV and av system. Makes me think Android@Home.

In order to use the Nexus Q, you understand that you will need your own: (i) phone or tablet running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) or higher with access to Google Play; (ii) compatible speakers, AV system or HD TV; and (iii) 802.11a/b/g/n access point Wi-Fi router.”

  • It’s worth adding that I was deathly afraid that this would be a portable media player to the tune of the iPod or that poopy Samsung one from not long ago, and I was very afraid. Hate u Kellex :'(

    • Thank goodness it is not some sort of Galaxy Player… lol. It’s a media Hub, meant to be connected to an HDTV. It’s the first product out of the Android@Home guys, looks like it.

  • People have been speculating about them making a Media Center for a long time. From that description it definitely does not sound portable (the HDTV requirement) but it does, however, seem like it’s going after the same turf as GTV.. We’ll see how this plays out. I was hoping, honestly, that they would jump right into making “Nexus TVs,” but whatever.

  • The play store needs to sign up the rest of the labels to make it worth using consistently. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to go buy an album, only to find that its not available on the play store.

    • yea it’s getting ridiculous….i listen to a lot of Christian music that is not on there. I have to (*shivers*) tell my wife to buy it on itunes, then have to upload to GMusic.

        • never used amazon…will it sync to gmusic? or require it’s own player? also, i don’t like having my CC# stored all over the place just to make 1click purchases.

          • You’re kidding right? It’s cheaper and you simply download the music file.. You can then put it in iTunes, Gmusic, etc… And putting your CC# on Amazon is really not a big deal, I would trust it on there than on iTunes. After all, all those in app purchases on iTunes now… They go up to $99.99… crazy $hit

        • this past weekend was looking for Big Daddy Weave’s old and new music that is not played as much on the radio.

  • It’s the central home entertainment system that had been long rumored. I bet it will have “airpl@y” type abilities, and be basically like a Nexus Version of a Google TV.

    • I’d love a Nexus Google TV set-top box, but that wouldn’t only utilize Google Play Music/Movies and YouTube. To me, that sounds more like an Android Airplay thing. Which I don’t have much use for over a bluetooth receiver.
