Vine is Shutting Down in the Coming Months

Vine announced the upcoming closure of its mobile apps today, with complete shutdown to happen in the coming months. Even with that sad news, the company states that it will keep its desktop version alive, allowing you to go back and watch your past creations. However, if you want to save those clips and move them to somewhere else, you should probably download the app and get on that.

Vine did not disclose exactly why they are shutting down, but we would imagine is has something to do with a dwindling user base. Ever since Instagram introduced video support, Vine not only took a backseat, but was essentially thrown in the trunk with duct tape across its mouth and hands.

Here’s the important part you should read from Vine’s announcement.

Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today. We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website.

Well, there it is.
