HTC Rumored to Create One Wear, Rival to Moto 360 Smartwatch

htc logo

According to Taiwanese sources of TK Tech News, HTC is planning a rival to Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch, called One Wear. The smartwatch, which was purportedly demoed, is scheduled to be released around late August or early September.

The watch, said to come in “polycarbonate (fancy name for plastic) and metal flavors,” is shaped in a circle, much like the Moto 360. If you were to ask most people who have their eyes on the Moto 360, it’s the watches design that has them swooning for it, even before we know what all it is capable of doing.

We are still a few months out from the reported time frame of release, but if HTC’s track record for leaks means anything, we could see the watch much sooner than the company would like.

One Wear, anyone?

After buying the Gear 2 Neo, I’m really into smart watches. I have the Gear Neo working with my M8, so this will be a nice transition.

    • dreadnatty08

Wait, what? How did that hack occur?

      • NickA

Someone on XDA gave the link to the Gear Manager apk. Download and and it works great. Even the notifications. The only thing you don’t get is the integration with S-Health, but I don’t use that anyway. You can even use the speaker phone feature. It’s great.

Anybody super excited that wearables are finally starting to become a tangible reality!!

As long as it has Beats Audio!!! LOL kidding! That would be the iWatch these days.

Ugly black bar at the bottom included.

Wonder how OEMs are going to differentiate wearables. Sure, right now we have one glaring one–Square vs. Circle. But if you’re going android wear, what will be the main differentiator? BlinkFeed on a “stock” AndroidWear device? Not much of a difference. Thoughts?

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

I’m SURE we can expect some variation of specific features….and Skins in the future.

Word is Q3. Summer time pretty much….. We’ll see. Just looking forward to Google I/O so we can actually see finalized software from Google.

“it’s the watches design that has them swooning for it, even before we know what all it is capable of doing.” Nice little snipe at Ron :) I remember that episode well

      Haha nice Tim :)

  • Danmheadache

Do like the name “One Wear” :)

  • Blue Sun

*eye roll* Just stick to making “Ultrapixel” smartphones.

  • NexusMan

Pass. HTC, focus on getting the phone thing right. Conquer that market first.

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

HTC couldn’t conquer anything with Achilles as their Marketing VP.

      • http://www.ytmnd.com MH

Their marketing isnt the issue, it’s that they always make a “beautiful” device with huge functional flaws. The M8 is the first device in a long time that hasnt had any (aside from a removable battery, a matter of preference). They need to pull a move from LG’s playbook and start over from scratch. The G2 advertising is pathetic, but they are selling strong. It’s their devices…people no like.

        • michael arazan

I have yet to have ever seen an LG commercial for their smart phones, TV’s and all their appliances yes, never for their smartphones.

    • kyle bonham

If conquering the market meens making cheap plastic crap like Samsung I’m out.

      • NexusMan

Um….no. Conquering the market means making phones that people outside of tech message boards, actually buy.

        • Cowboydroid

…which means making cheap, plastic crap like Samsung.

          • NexusMan

            Angry much?

          • Cowboydroid

            I don’t play with Samsungs, so…no.

          • NexusMan

            Yet still obsessed.

          • Cowboydroid

If that’s what you call an “obsession,” I’d be curious what your own ailment is called…

          • NexusMan

You’re obsessed. Get over it. YOU brought up Samsung in a post that has NOTHING to do with Samsung, in response to a comment that had NOTHING to do with Samsung, and you continue to post, comment, vent and argue about Samsung (which in your own words you “don’t play with.” Clearly, you are obsessed with Samsung, since you keep talking about Samsung, when no one else is. Get over it, already.

          • Cowboydroid

Actually…it wasn’t me. You sounds angry, though.

      • Flip Jumpman

I’m sure no one cares or will miss you.

People who say they hate this company blah blah blah really need to just get over it. How does someone else’s purchase/use of something you don’t like affect you?

  • Matthew Rebmann

*sigh* The “one” refers to far too many devices these days. I understand it’s the branding HTC wants to stick with but dayum son,.

    • George264

Samsung “Galaxy”, Apple “i”? LG “G”, Motorola “Moto”, Sony “Xperia”?
Every company has their branding, and it’s necessary to keep that name in consumer’s heads.

      • Matthew Rebmann

It’s not that I have an issue with them sticking with their branding, it’s that the Branding is One… So many devices have been named one and there are several now. I was also being more humorous than serious.

  • Tony Byatt

Maybe this is another reason why Evleaks is reporting the One Prime has been suspended indefinitely…
