Camera ZOOM FX Receives Major Update, “It’s Super Legit Now”

That quote is straight from Kellex’s mouth. Today, Camera ZOOM FX for Android, which has been labeled as one of Android’s best camera apps, received a nice update that brings a fancy re-vamped UI with it. On top of that beautiful new interface, there’s a ton of brand new settings, new frames, and a whole new Gallery for viewing and sharing your work.

As a bonus, the app is on sale down from $5 to just $3. Go grab that!

Play Link ($2.99)

(This is not a video of the new UI, but it will show you the general idea behind the app.)

Cheers K!

Does this do anything to improve the GNEX’s crappy camera?

  • JulianZHuang

bought couple and had a lot of free cam apps on my gn, but always use the stock camera.

  • Great camera app on my Gnex with the exception of the front facing camera, it makes the pictures super grainy

  • MichaelWiebe

Forget the zoom, I want the Wes Mathews Bobble head! Rip City baby!

  • Daniel Maginnis

Bought it for 10c or 25c. Didn’t really use it Cuz it wasn’t any better than my motoblur cam. No panorama, shutter lag, no prefocus, no HDR. Why does it lack? Seems as tho this can came out just for zoom, but needs more innovation to be relevant tofay

The lady in the video has a very nice voice

  • Knlegend1

Its still too slow for real world use. Jelly Bean camera all the way.

  • If it had continuous focus mode i’d be sold, but for now back to my AOSP camera.

  • SMD79

Is there any point to this app over the native GS3 camera UI? (Besides all the framing features and effects?) I wish there was a way to increase the shutter speed on these cameras to reduce blur on moving objects.

  • What’s the best camera app replacement for people on AOSP? This or Camera360? Are there others?

  • The Dude

On the S3, does this have a zero shutter lag camera? And how does it compare to the stock TouchWiz camera, which is really quite good and a lot better than any AOSP camera.

I am on SynergyROM and tested a couple pics and looked at them on my computer. The Zoom FX camera has less noise than the TW camera for the indoor pics I took. Zoom FX is slower to capture though.

  • mhous33

i use camera zoom fx on aosp jb builds for bionic because stock camera doesn’t work. this is the nicest camera replacement i’ve found, but i hate that god-awful icon.

  • Super out of focus too…

  • LegalAmerican

Looks like someone is a Wes Matthews fan.

Nice update. One weird thing is that on the Galaxy S3, the camera viewing area seems off-center. Anyone else with this issue?

    • Paradisimo

I noticed it does that after changing settings. When I exit the app and start it up again things are back to normal. Must be a bug for the GS3. Hopefully they fix it soon.

  • ericsf8

stable shot is the only way I can take pictures with my Galaxy Nexus. Gosh, the camera on the phone blows.

    • JoshGroff

It’s pretty good if you have a steady hand and good light. Aside from that, good luck.

  • Silver Veloz

Cool – Can’t wait to play with this update later (after work). As another person here said, I was lucky to get this on the .25 cent sale. WooHoo!

  • Mikeg1969

I just checked…..Lucky me, I got it when it was .25 cents too. I’ll have to look at it again now.

  • CJ Vanilla

twitta and flicka … and if you prefa do it all at once. lol. couldn’t resist.

  • Dave Sloboda

Damnit! I have this app, but I’d gotten it through the Amazon App store (because at the time, the Google Market/Play wasn’t letting me purchase/download it)…but they don’t have the updated version yet.

    • Daniel Maginnis

its my understanding that amazon app store NEVER updates their apps. pretty useless if you ask me. i uninstalled it after i noticed a handful of my apps were only 1.0 w/o any updates.

      • They do update them, just not in a timely manner. Usually 1-2 weeks late it seems. When it first came out, I got a lot of apps from Amazon through their free app of the day, but I have been steadily replacing them with Play store versions as they go on sale there or when I don’t want to wait for a major update.

  • If you went app crazy like i did, then you got this when it went on sale for .25 cents!

    • Or in my case, when it was.10 cents 🙂

      • kindrudekid

        10 Cents here too!!!

honestly of all the apps i purchased.
this, Titanium Backup, Huebrix , DeskSMS , DrawSomething and HD Widgets (Tablet) and Cut the rope/where’s my water are totally worth every cent !!

        • I think the only app I have ever bought (out of I dont even know how many) and still use is Titanium Backup.

          • kindrudekid

same for me , what i meant was I found my money’s worth in those apps espicially huebrix, finish game, clear data start again, never gets old!

        • Abraham Obama

I tried Titanium backup and it failed when I needed it most. I had backed up phone and then loaded a new ROM. When I decided I didn’t want that ROM I re-flashed the previous ROM and tried to restore my backup. Guess what… It failed. It hung at every attempt. So if you are using Titanium I’d test that restore before I trust the application.

          • michael arazan

Try MyBackupPro, and you can be rooted or not rooted to use the app, but it is 4.99, I got it because you don’t have to be rooted to back up everything from videos and pics to data in apps.

          • JoshGroff

I had the same problem, then I remembered (because it kind of tells you on start up) you have to enable debugging and install unknown sources before it does anything.

          • Were developer options enabled, this is a common cause.

          • Anon

I use RerWare’s MyBackup Pro. Even without root, it does a pretty darn good job (though it can do even more if you are rooted).

Like CameraZoomFX, which really improved my Droid Bionic’s picture quality, both apps were worth the money spent.

      • picaso86

        Yeahh mann!

    • EvanTheGamer

I think I may have picked up this app for $.10 when it was on sale at that price last year(I think)! Pretty awesome photo app.

  • MTPenguin

I bought this app a long time ago when it first came out. I bought it specifically for the timer function and burst mode. Since the first month I bought it, they changed the interface to only be able to do one or the other. Sucks. I hope they finally (after 2 years) re-enabled the features I paid for to begin with. I’d like to start using it again.

  • 2001400ex

Does this make the razr hd camera better?

    • Yea, seriously, does it? Is this app just about features, or does it do a better job of lighting calibration and all the other fancy technical photography crap?

    • kixofmyg0t

I was just about to ask that. Oh screw it, ill buy it and report back.

    • BSweetness

It took much better pictures than the stock app on my RAZR MAXX, so I’d say it probably does a better job on the RAZR HD as well since it has the same camera hardware.

    • Ernie

It produces slightly better pics on my RAZR MAXX HD than the built-in camera app. But still poor. If a camera is important to you, this isn’t the phone.

      • 2001400ex

Thanks! Yea camera is low on the list. Battery and screen are 1-2. I do like sense tho, I am on my tbolt still.

Use to love it, then it got to bloated and slow to startup & respond and sometimes didn’t save photos, no panoramic, so stopped using it.

We will see if it is actually “super legit now”.
