YES! I’ve been thinking this exact same thing, and it seems nobody on any of the bazillion blog entries about this has mentioned it.
For those who don’t know, here’s an article about Foodspotting from August of last year:

The one big advantage the EN-Food app has is its Evernote integration. However, since I don’t use EN, this doesn’t matter to me. And since I have no desire to tweet/share to facebook everything I eat, that integration is meaningless to me as well. All I need is a well made, online/offline “gourmet food diary” of sorts. I’ve really enjoyed Foodspotting for this.

I agree with the beer and think it child also work for other fine things like cigars and wine. I already keep a log of the cigars I smoke on evernote but it is a hassle to format the note manually each time.

It’s called a conversation starter. Instead of telling people about those chicken tacos, he can also show them.

Now if he started doing this with every meal he ate, even including the less than glamorous ones, like Taco Bell… then I’d be a bit concerned.

What a colossal waste of time. The frequency of times that I wish I could remember what that was that I ate is vanishingly small and overwhelmingly not worth the time it would take to record everything I eat. If I don’t record everything I eat, then there’s no point in using this app at all.

And the social aspect of it? Who gives a damn what I ate for dinner? Seriously, how many people really care?

I’m getting real tired of major brands pushing useless shit and internet media running with the ball they were told to like.

Is it going to get to the point where everything we do in our lives, from picking our nose to eating a cracker, must be documented online for everything to experience with us?
