Since we have entered the middle of the month of September, you might be wondering where the September Pixel update is. You likely care more about this update because it is expected to be the stable release of the big Android 17 QPR1 and also arrive with new features from a Pixel Feature Drop.
For those curious or who keep asking around the internet, the September Pixel update is not here yet.
You probably read at the end of last week that the Pixel 11 series was receiving a 2nd September update. And that did indeed happen. Google pushed September updates to the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold on September 1 and then again on September 10. They didn’t give us changelogs for either, and they may have pulled that first one. The 2nd September update for the Pixel 11 series is the only build that made it onto the official factory images page.
So, if you have been trying to pull an update onto your Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8, Pixel 9, or Pixel 10 series device and keep coming up empty, that’s because there is not currently an update for you.
We do expect that Google will release the September update soon. This is a big update with tons of bug fixes and several other changes, thanks to it being a quarterly update (QPR1). We are on the 9th beta for it, if you can believe that, because it is such a big update that needed that much testing before going stable.
Once it does arrive, it’ll hit all of the still-supported Pixel devices from the Pixel 6 up through the Pixel 10. It should also bring other new features and changes as a part of a Pixel Feature Drop.

- December 2024 Pixel Drop: Released on Thursday, December 5
- October 2024 Pixel Drop: Released on Tuesday, October 15
- June 2024 Pixel Drop: Released on Tuesday, June 11
- March 2024 Pixel Drop: Released on Monday, March 4
What can we learn from those dates? It’s clear that Google has more history with Tuesday releases than any other day. In the list above, Google gave us a Pixel Feature Drop on a Tuesday, 7 times out of the 10 we went back and tracked.
Will the September 2026 Feature Drop hit tomorrow, which is a Tuesday? Maybe. We’ll let you know.
