IFA kicks off in just a couple of hours, with Samsung highlighting the day 1 festivities through a 3-city Unpacked event. They are unveiling the Galaxy Note 4, there is no denying that. Each Fall, Samsung brings us a new device in the oversized-phone-we’re-basically-in-tablet-territory category that they created years ago.
The device is currently rumored to carry a 5.7-inch QHD display, metal casing with chamfered edges, Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB or 4GB RAM, 16MP camera, and a brand new S Pen. We would be shocked if Samsung didn’t use its standard physical home button setup, with recent apps and back flanking it, as well. By all means, this will be another flagship device that will make Note cult members proud.
Tim will be on hand for the happenings in New York City, bright and early at 9:00AM Eastern (6:00AM Pacific). We will have a live stream embedded below for all to watch, along with a live blog so that you can read our thoughts in real time.
Join us tomorrow morning! (more…)
As a quick reminder before we head into the long holiday weekend, we wanted to make sure you don’t forget that Tim and I will be on hand in San Francisco on Tuesday morning for the unveiling of the LG G3. That’s right, May 27 is almost upon us!
The event kicks off at 10:00AM Pacific in San Francisco and 1:00PM Eastern in New York. There is also a global launch happening at the same time in London. We are hoping that LG puts out a live stream for the world to watch as the event unfolds, but so far are without one. Should we get one, we will be sure to pass that information along.
Until then, we thought we should give you the opportunity to sign-up for our live blog (sign-up is below), so that you don’t miss anything from the event.
Expect plenty of hands-on time, comparisons, and general thoughts on LG’s new flagship. Also, if you have questions or something in particular you would like us to test out once we have the device in-hand, this would be a good place to ask. (more…)
We are finally here! After more leaks than anyone can possibly keep track of, HTC will take the stage at 11AM Eastern (8AM Pacific) at dual events in London and New York City and make the “All New HTC One” or HTC One (2014) or HTC One (M8) official. It has been quite the journey, leaving few surprises, but we are still looking forward to the show (and time with the device). (more…)
Last night, we scooped at least one of T-Mobile’s announcements for this afternoon’s UnCarrier 4.0 event. Apparently, T-Mobile will introduce a program today at 12:30pm PST to pay off “your family’s termination fees when you trade in your devices.” While that is a major announcement for T-Mo, that may not be the only thing up their sleeves.
T-Mobile’s CEO, John Legere, has already been making serious headlines this week, after getting kicked out of a party that AT&T was hosting. He’s a very radical thinker in the mobile space, and has zero filter when it comes to speaking about the competition, so we are positive that he will have a few great quotes for us today. (more…)
With the long holiday weekend upon us, Tim and I have gathered here today, live in front of an audience, in celebration of Android and all that we are thankful for. Actually, it’s just the Droid Life Show episode 42, but it’s important dammit. We have a Nexus 5 review to talk about, the site redesign that went live Monday, a bunch of holiday deals on the horizon, which phone(s) is dominating the DL community at the moment, 4.4 updates to a variety of phones/tablets, and more.
Today’s show kicks off around 3:15PM Pacific (6:15PM Eastern). A live video broadcast will be embedded below closer to the start of the show. Until then, feel free to hang out in the Droid Life IRC room. (more…)
Episode 40 is going down tonight with the return of the Droid Life Show! Who is ready for the ultimate hypebeast show? We all have Nexus 5 on the mind, plus some Kit Kat, so we’ll have plenty of it on tonight’s get-together. Other than those new goodies from Google that should arrive any day (more than likely tomorrow), we’d like to talk about Phonebloks and Project Ara, new Google Glass, 4.3 updates for Samsung phones, maybe even some new iPads, and more. It should be another good one that you won’t want to miss.

At any moment, Google should begin their “A morning with Google+” event which is streamed live to the world on YouTube. We’d imagine we will see lots of Google+ talk, new features, both web and app related, and probably not much else. This doesn’t exactly scream “Nexus event!” to us. One report already suggests that we’ll see Auto Awesome for videos, a feature that has been available to photos on G+ for some time. Other than that, the rest is not confirmed.
There is apparently some sort of power outage at the Google-plex this morning, so the event hasn’t begun yet. It should start soon.
The crew is back at its normal time and place tonight for The Droid Life Show, and we have a good one for you. We will be going over all of the new Android 4.4 and Nexus 5 goodies that have hit the web, in addition to HTC’s announcement of the One Max and Nike’s distaste for the Android ecosystem. On top of that, we will cover the staff’s favorite apps and games of the week, so be sure to tune in. (more…)
