google io2013-1

And we’re live from Google I/O 2013! Today’s 3-hour long keynote starts at 9AM Pacific (noon Eastern) and should feature more announcements involving Android and Chrome than you can possibly imagine. We’ve already seen the new Google Maps go live (briefly), so we know that’s coming. But after that, we could see a unified messaging service, Android 4.3, new gaming center, and more. It’s going to be a long keynote, but potentially the best one ever.

We have a liveblog and video embed below for your viewing pleasure. We’ll open the liveblog at 8AM Pacific, as we’ll be inside the Moscone Center, waiting in line, snapping pics and sharing the experience. Join us!

It’s time once again for The Droid Life Show! On this week’s show, which happens to be episode 24, we’re talkin’ all sorts of Google I/O. We’ve got rumors to toss out, other speculation, and even team predictions since one week from now, we’ll be in San Francisco trying to absorb all that Google has thrown at us. After we get done with I/O, we want to talk Google Glass, and how the team and DL community are reacting to what seems to be non-stop, over-the-top coverage of it. (Are you still interested in Glass or not?) Then, we’ll do our typical app chatter, likely mention the HTC One and Galaxy S4 a few times, and see what other kinds of trouble we can cause.

The show kicks off around 6:00PM Pacific (9:00PM Eastern). A live video broadcast and chat are embedded below.

It’s Droid Life Show time! On tonight’s show we plan to talk about Google I/O and some of the sessions that were announced last night, the fact that Google Glass is everywhere, Tim’s thoughts on the HTC One after having it for a week, if tablets are going to be dinosaurs in five years, our favorite apps and games of the moment, and more. It’ll be another topic-packed event, so be sure to join us.

It’s time once again for the Droid Life Show! We return tonight at our usual Wednesday evening 6:00PM Pacific slot after what seems like weeks of scheduling conflicts. Better late than never, though, as we have two of the most important devices of the year to talk about for hours on end (or 60 minutes or so). Our Galaxy S4 and HTC One reviews are up, so it’s time for the entire DL team to weigh in with their thoughts. It’s not all GS4 and HO (probably a bad acronym) – we’ll slot in our favorites apps of the time being, talk Google I/O since it’s only a couple of weeks away, and wonder what Verizon has up their sleeves for late May. It should be another fun show, be sure to join us.

Hey, look, we’re back! The Droid Life Show episode 21 will finally go down tonight after a two-week absence (apologies). As one would expect after a hiatus, we have a ton of mega-topics on hand. If you haven’t heard, Facebook is trying to takeover Android, the HTC One still isn’t available, yet I have one in hand, the Galaxy S4 is moments away, Motorola bootloaders have been unlocked, and we may even have an app or two to discuss. It should be a glorious return. Be sure to join us!

facebook event

Stop the rumors, stop the guessing, stop the wondering why on Earth the world needs a Facebook phone. Well, you can continue to question that last part since we’ll probably never fully understand it, but the rest will be answered at 10:00AM PDT, today. That’s right, Facebook and Sir Zuck will unveil their “new home on Android” in a short while, and we’ll be there live to bring it all to you. Their new product may be called the HTC First. It may look like this in a variety of colors. And there is a good chance it’ll be nothing more than a 3rd-party launcher with a Facebook focus. No matter what, our attention this morning will be focused on it, hoping for a big surprise.

If you have any last predictions, now is the time.

I’m going with, $199 phone (full retail price), no contract, HSPA+ (no LTE), and sold unlocked at all sorts of retailers like Wal-mart and Target. Similar move to what Google has done with the Nexus 4, but since the rumored specs for this Facebook sound like something out of late 2011, it should cost pennies.

Live: Samsung Galaxy S4 Event

Samsung Unpacked

Everything goes down tonight, 4:00PM Pacific (7:00PM Eastern)! You know what I’m talking about, the Samsung Galaxy S4 unveiling event. We’re here in NYC to cover it, but Samsung has gone ahead and made a livestream available (embedded below) so that the world can join in on the festivities. We may see something similar to the device that has leaked a couple of times over the last two days, or Samsung may win the day again, proving that that was nothing more than a troll job. I can’t wait to find out for sure, so that the speculation and confusion can end.
