Facebook Announces Messenger 4 Update With Focus on Simplicity and Less Tabs

Facebook has an all new Messenger app, rolling out to all users over the next few weeks. I feel like we’ve heard this before, but Facebook mentions this update is focused on simplicity, ease of navigation, and is “created with you in mind.”

For what’s new, it’s all about tabs. Apparently, the standard Facebook Messenger app has nine tabs. That’s a whole lotta tabs. Messenger 4 will have just three tabs — Chats, People, and Discover. You’ll find all of the same features that were available, but everything from the games you play to the conversations you have should be more easily found.

Facebook is also adding chat bubble color gradients as a way of customizing the look and vibe of your conversations. Each chat can have their own color scheme going on and Facebook says, “you can see the colors change from red to blue, for example, as you scroll up and down a conversation.”

As stated, this big change to Messenger will be rolling out in the coming weeks.
