Samsung announced that its Galaxy Ring has received FDA clearance to monitor for signs of sleep apnea, a first for smart rings currently on the market.
According to Samsung, the update Sleep Apnea feature is intended for users over the age of 18, powered by an enhanced algorithm that analyzes blood oxygen levels and motion during sleep. The number Samsung is looking for is “disruptions detected per hour,” providing noticeable signs that a user might be struggling with sleep apnea, which then allows them to seek care from a medical professional.
Select Galaxy Watches already have this feature available, but now that it is being extended to Galaxy Ring, users have a more comfortable option when it comes to detection.
Congrats to Samsung on this.
