Earlier this week, ASUS unveiled the ROG (Republic of Gamers) Phone, its attempt to create a device catered specifically to mobile gamers. Featuring an HDR display with a refresh rate higher than most Android devices, ASUS claims every piece was designed for “high-performance mobile gaming”

For specs, the 6″ display is a 1080p AMOLED 18:9 panel, with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Most Android phones on the market have a refresh rate of 60Hz, with exception to the Razer Phone that has a max refresh rate of 120Hz. Other specs for the ROG Phone include a Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at 2.96GHz, gaming-optimized Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB RAM, 4,000mAh battery, dual front-facing speakers, plus the pièce de résistance, a 3D vapor-chamber cooling system.

For this vapor-chamber cooling system, which may seem odd for an Android phone, it is designed to keep the device’s internals cool even during your intense gaming sessions. ASUS will even sell a detachable AeroActive Cooler fan for increased cooling capabilities.

I’d input snark right around here, but who am I kidding, I am stoked about this.

We don’t yet have exact pricing or availability for ROG Phone, but ASUS says we can expect to see it launch in Q3 of this year.

Now all we need is a few Android games that take actual advantage of this hardware. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
