HMD announced its latest Nokia-branded phone today, the Nokia 8. This phone is without a doubt a flagship level phone that is headed for Europe in September. It may never come to the US, but should it, you’ll know about it, thanks to this post.
The Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch QHD LCD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 3090mAh battery, Nokia OZO Audio, and dual rear 13MP cameras with ZEISS optics. It’s packed, see?
Outside of the specs, HMD says that the Nokia 8 has the “most advanced aluminium unibody design to date.” The process for creating this phone starts wit ha single block of 6000 series aluminium and is then refined over 40 stages that includes machining, anodizing, and polishing. Some models take over 20 hours to complete. That seems a bit much and also kind of cool. Like, I’d brag about that sh*t to my nerd friends all day, every day.
The phone also includes a Dual-Sight feature that uses both front and rear cameras to help you live stream to the world. HMD is referring to this as #Bothie, which is embarrassing on a number of levels. What’s not embarrassing is the audio experience you should get with the OZO Audio I mentioned above. This 3-mic setup allows for spatial surround sound capture that’ll make your 4K videos melt the hearts of ears.
Finally, HMD reminds us in today’s announcements that they ship pure Android on Nokia phones and the Nokia 8 is no different. With monthly security updates and regular additional updates, Nokia phones might be the non-Pixel choice for Android purists.
Again, the Nokia 8 is not headed to the US as far as we know, but should rollout in Europe throughout September.
