Did Google Just Send Us All a YouTube 5.5.26 Update Meant to be Internally Dogfooded?

We may earn a commission when you click links to retailers and purchase goods. More info.

Sooooo, YouTube just updated on all sorts of devices, which often times prompts us to write it up. Thing is, today’s update is different than most as it appears to have been an update targeted to employees of Google. Once updated, you’ll see that the YouTube icon has changed to an icon with a bone inside, which means it is part of their “dogfooding” program. Dogfooding, meaning internal testing.

The update brings us to v5.5.26, with the previous public release being v5.3.32.

We’re still digging for changes, but wanted to make sure you all tried to update to get in on the goods. This probably won’t happen very often.

If you don’t have the update, the .apk can be downloaded here.
