This morning, Google announced a new family-focused experience that will soon arrive on Google Play. It’s called Designed for Families, and as the name suggests, is a way for Google to partner with developers to curate content that would be best suited for families and kids and pets. In the coming weeks, this new Designed for Families section will arrive with both apps and games that are age-appropriate, family-focused, and trusted.

Google has seen some growth in this area, thanks to developers like PBS Kids, Tynker, and Crayola, but Designed for Families will allow even smaller developers to get in on the action. With a push into family-friendly content, you should start to see optimized user interfaces and interactive features that both educate and entertain.

If you are a developer and would like to join the program, you can find the Designed for Families guidelines here.
