Droid 3 Unbrick SBF Released to Ease Your Hacking Fears

I can speak from personal experience that up until now, experimenting with the D3 was always playing with fire because there was no safety net to fall back on incase something went horribly, horribly wrong. Now, thanks to some great guys over at XDA there has been a flashable file released that has been proven to un-brick previously lost D3’s. Oh happy day.

The file can be found here. For instructions on how to flash via RSDLite, head on over to the thread over at XDA.

Cheers Pharaoh!

IT WORKS. My D3 was in a soft bricked state. I flashed the swu.zip file in AP Fastboot mode using RSDLite 5.4.3 this took a few minutes to complete. Then I used MotorolaOneClickRoot and rooted it once again! Thanks to the2dcour at XDA!

  • Elliotthj91

according to P3 this isnt a true sbf. if used it will take you off the update path.

  • Miguel Angel

YES!! Now for some custom ROMS! I hope MIUI comes to this baby.

  • I’m seeing reporting that this sbf takes you to the leaked update version.  Can someone verify this?  I was almost going to flash the update to try it out, know that I could get back to stock if something happened (like newer OTA’s not being able to accept).  But now I’m not so sure about trying out that update again.

You do not sbf in the same manner as a DX. You must have RSDLite 5.4.3
and use AP Fastboot option from the Boot manager, and use the swu.zip
not an .sbf file like DX

    • Elliotthj91

according to P3 that is correct it isnt a true sbf  it is a fastboot file

Very nice. Now we just need a custom recovery (what’s taking Koush so long?) and some custom ROMs and we have a ballgame.

  • Game

can u use PdaNet on the Droid Bionic

    • Anonymous

You should be able too….I’m using right now on my DX and before the DX, I was using it on my OG Droid.  It was pulled from the market for awhile, but looks like it’s back.

  • I’m finally going to root tonight!

  • RAWRRRR!!! BTW this is my favorite Droid. Easily the best ever made.

    • Anonymous

I haven’t had a single issue with it.

      • Joey

Hope u were knockin on wood when ya said that 😉

  • Joey

now come the roms! anyone get the wifi tether working yet on the droid 3? without having to go through vzw?

    • Game

do the   wifi tether  work on the tbolt

  • Bionic please!

  • JohnPA2006

Between the Bionic and the Droid 3
how could anyone pick any other phones.
Motorola is just kickin butts and taking names…..

    • Anonymous

I have used both. The Bionic is a little better due to having LTE, but the extra 100$ on it is not worth it.

And the D3 has a keyboard.

  • It’s going to ease my mind so much when an SBF comes out for the Bionic too.

Come on DL!! Can we have some cooler article titles?

    How ’bout,

“Have no fear, SBF is here!!”

    I’m genius.

    • “Have no fear, SBF is here!!”……like a boss

.., awwesome,.. I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prîces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.
        I use EgoWïn.com

    • Sorry but not everyone owns a Motorola product, and its bad enough the Bionic has got this much attention.

      • my bad dont mind the post^^^^^^^^ typo typo epic fail my bad
