In a decision that shouldn’t really affect too many users, Samsung is moving to end support of Bixby Voice on devices still running Nougat and Oreo, according to a report from SamMobile.

The devices this move is said to affect are the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8 Active, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy A9 (2018). Ultimately, each of these devices are eligible to download Android 9 Pie, which really just means, Samsung is removing Bixby support if you refuse to update your phone to Pie. Because that’s the case, there’s hardly cause for alarm by most Samsung device owners.

This move is reported to take affect on January 1, 2020 and does not affect owners of the Galaxy Note 9 who have updated to Android 9 Pie.

Bixby lives on.
