The first TV from OnePlus, dubbed OnePlus TV, will arrive next month (September). You won’t be able to buy one out of the gate unless you live in India, but there are still plans after this early launch to bring this big screen to North America and other parts of the world.

In a forum post today, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau didn’t share many specifics, features, or pricing for the OnePlus TV. What he did was hint at the focuses they had going into making it. For one, he noted that “image and sound quality are fundamental features” that they must get right, that TVs are often centerpieces to rooms, so one needs to look awesome, and that a TV is a “smart social hub” that can be an IoT powerhouse.

To simplify, with the OnePlus TV, OnePlus will try and deliver an excellent display and sound in a beautiful package with built in smart features that will likely help you control your smart home. That’s a lot like most smart TVs these days, but even I’m open to seeing what OnePlus can do. They’ve done a number of impressive phones to date and they appear to have applied a similar approach to this TV that got them early smartphone success.

Now we wait for a US date.
