HTC made it official today with the announcement of the HTC Desire Eye. This device is packing a 5.2″ FHD display, Snapdragon 801, 2GB RAM, and comes with Android 4.4.4 right out the box.

Of course, the defining feature of the Eye is its dual 13MP cameras. That’s right, both the front facing camera and back shooter are sporting the higher resolution. They’ve created what I overheard one rep say, “the ultimate selfie-taker.” I spent a good ten minutes playing with the camera, including the Split Capture feature, which is a part of the new EYE Experience for HTC’s cameras. The front facing 13MP camera is definitely heads above any other Android device that I’ve handled.

The Desire Eye is also rated IPX7 on the waterproof scale, features BoomSound speakers, 2,400mAh battery, and a microSD slot for cards up to 128GB in size.
