Motorola XOOM WiFi Owners Will Not Have Movies on Android 3.1, Access Coming in “Near Future”

If you’ve updated your Motorola XOOM WiFi to Android 3.1 already, you probably noticed something major was missing.  The new Movies tab in the Android Market will not appear and according to Motorola, that was by design.  The Verizon XOOM, as I’ve shown in a quick walk-through video definitely has it, but the WiFi model won’t see until some time in the “near future” according to the Moto Support forums manager.

The new Movies tab in the Android Market will not appear on updated Wi-Fi-only Motorola Xooms immediatly after the update.  Google will make that available in the near future.

No reason was given as to why they would withhold this new Market feature, but it’ll likely be here before too long.  The plan has always been to bring this service to all Android devices including phones, so after a couple of weeks of testing on the VZW XOOM, I bet we see it.
