Droid Life Q&A Sessions: Volume 25 Answers

We brought the DL Q&A Sessions back to life this week with Volume 25, giving you the chance to ask us whatever has been on your mind regarding Android and the holidays. We received a ton of great questions, then allowed the DL staff to go through them and give their thoughts.

Given that it is nearing the end of 2014, folks asked for our DL phone of the year, the best gifts we have received for Christmas, and what the specs would be like on our dream smartphone. It was a lot of fun going through these questions, so keep ‘em coming!

Droid Life Q&A Sessions: Volume 24 Answers

Last week was too hectic to get our Answers up from last week’s DL Q&A Session, but don’t worry, we did not forget about it. We received a ton of great questions, as always, so the DL crew has gone over them and answered a few to the best of our abilities.

It seems there is still a lot of focus on validity of wearable technology, especially how it will integrate with current fashion standards. We were also asked our opinion on whether the Note Edge from Samsung will see much success. Our short answer? Nope.

Droid Life Q&A Sessions: Volume 24

There is always quite a bit to talk about during this time of year, as we continue to approach the launch of a new Nexus smartphone, and even a new Nexus tablet from Google. However, Google is not the only company readying products, as Samsung and HTC are also set to launch new devices in the US, with the Note 4 from Sammy and possible One (M8) EYE from HTC.

During our Q&A Sessions, this is the time you, the reader, can ask us anything that might be on your mind that has to do with Android, Google, carriers, or anything else that strikes your fancy. For example, do we think the recently leaked photos of the Nexus 9 are appealing? Will the Galaxy Note 4 be worth the wait? Is Google and Motorola’s Shamu device way too big?

On Friday, we will compile a list of our favorite questions, then let the team have at them. Until then, shoot your questions below in the comments section.  (more…)

Question of the Day: Has Hardware Design Reached a Plateau?

In a recent discussion posted online between Vodafone and Warren Saunders, Sony’s UK and Ireland Sales Director, Saunders talks about the new Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. Early in the talks, Saunders states that when it comes down to a buyer deciding between the larger Xperia Z3 and the smaller Z3 Compact, it’s simply, “a choice thing.” With almost identical internal specs, the question is, do buyers want a big phone or a not-so-big phone?

But more importantly, and the actual reason for this post, is that Saunders alludes to one very important theory within this discussion. To him, it appears that hardware/design innovations have essentially reached a plateau, and companies like Sony, will begin to focus more on a cohesive package across multiple devices.  (more…)

Droid Life Q&A Sessions: Volume 23 Answers

This past Monday, we opened up Volume 23 of the Droid Life Q&A Sessions. With Motorola, Samsung, and even Apple unveiling new products, all of you had great questions for us. The questions ranged from which OEM is doing the best this year, all the way down to which OEM is doing the worst. Of course, readers are also curious about upcoming Nexus devices as well, and so are we.

Down below, we also cover our thoughts on Motorola’s handling of the Moto 360 launch. A few may say they botched it, but it seems that we differ slightly in opinion on that subject.

For all of the answers to your questions, look right below.  (more…)

Droid Life Q&A Sessions: Volume 23

What better time to host a Q&A Session than following one of the busiest weeks of the year. We have new devices from Motorola, Samsung, ASUS, Sony, and more, so we figure you beautiful folks might have questions about them. And of course, the only announcement we have left to look forward to in 2014 is that of Nexus caliber from Google.

During Q&A sessions, this your opportunity to ask the DL staff anything you can come up with, pertaining to Android, Android devices, companies, or maybe even something a little off-topic. NFL week 1 outcomes, anyone?
