galay s5 deal

Starting today and ending on May 12, Verizon’s is hosting a Mother’s Day sale that will save you $100 off of premium smartphones priced above $199. The deal includes phones like the Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8) for $99 on-contract, or the Galaxy Note 3 for as little as $199 on-contract. Those are some of the better prices you will find anywhere, just keep in mind that you will have to lock-in with Big Red for another two years in order to take advantage.

Full retail pricing has not changed.

We have reviewed all three of these devices, so be sure to catch up if you are in the market for a new phone – Galaxy S5 review, HTC One (M8) review, and Galaxy Note 3 review.

Verizon Links:  Galaxy S5 ($99) | HTC One (M8) ($99) | Galaxy Note 3 ($199)

  • JohnPA2006

I just got a Droid MAXX a week ago. to replace my Verizon Galaxy S3.
I wonder if I should return my Moto droid maxx for the S5 now that I can get it for 99$ Hmmmmm

  • Douglas Lewis

Anyone tried using the verizon30 code on top of the sale?

    • M3D1T8R

Just tried going through to that point and no, it no longer works. VZWDEAL also no longer works, seems they stopped them both back just after the M8 launch.

  • schlanz

you also get an extra $100 off a tablet or ipad when you upgrade that comes with a bonus gb of shared data for life.

the g pad is reduced to 99 so that makes it free. if you’re on a 2, 3, or 4gb share plan, lower the plan 1gb and you’ll break even on the data and monthly charges.

pretty awesome deal if you’re on more everything and don’t plan on leaving vzw

  • chris125

Now if only they would knock $100 off the full retail.

  • disot25

Hey guys dont know if this is going to work but I just did it and I’ll post back tomorrow if I get my phone and tell you if it worked.
Anyway I was able to order an M8 without the system asking me to change my plan (I have unlimited data of course). I used an ipad mini to order,
just open safari on the ipad and go the verizon website. So far my order is being process and my shipping details will be available soon.

    • John

How did this work out for you? Keep unlimited? I want to try this with the lg g3 coming out.

      • disot25

It worked i got to keep unlimited. The only other thing i did was to change the the sim card that came with the phone for the one i had on my old phone. Changed the sim card before i turned the phone on for the first tim.
Like i said still got unlimited.

  • JohnThackr

Also remember that the Motorola Moto X promotion is live. I checked it out, and contrary to my expectations, the $299 price for the 16GB and $325 for 32GB and Developer Edition is the same on all carriers. (I.e., while normally it’s more expensive on all non Republic Wireless carriers, the $299 works for Verizon, AT&T, etc., so it’s a bigger discount on those carriers today.)

    • n900mixalot

Hmmm … M8/S5/Note 3 … or the Moto X … hahahah. That’s a good one. Zero competition. Those three phones obliterate the Moto X, and $299? You’d really have to WANT a Moto X to turn down any of those others.

      • MJD

Well, it’s M8/S5/Note 3 with new 2 year contract vs Moto X for $0 with new 2 year contract, or Moto X for $299 without contract (today). So even with the Mother’s Day discount, Moto X is at least $100 less (with new 2 year contract).

  • Michael Little

nice. I just bought an S5 yesterday for 199.00. that’s just wrong.

    • Michael Little

      rebate check in the mail…

      • n900mixalot

Bah bow bowwww … *high five*

  • benzoFly

Darn it, just pick up my S5 last week through Verizon authorized dealer. Can they honor the $99 or I SOL??? :(

    • benzFly

      *am I SOL*

      • Johnny Steele

        Churn.

    • Michael Little

im on the phone with them now. I bought mine yesterday for 199.00

    • Michael Little

call them! they’re sending me a rebate check

      • benzoFly

        Thanks, will do!!!

  • mcdonsco

The note 3 has been $199 at beat buy for a few months.

    And no upgrade fee.

    • PoisonApple31

If you upgrade with Verizon @ Best Buy, the upgrade fee will come on your next bill, it’s not done in store. Verizon wants their $30 lol. I was disappointed when I saw my bill with that tacked on there.

  • Drooooid

I JUST switched to Verizon and got a S5 about 3 days ago…Anything I can do to get the extra $100 back?

    • Johnny Steele

      Churn my good friend. Churn.

    • Colin Huber

I’d call and see if they would honor it.

    • n900mixalot

Return it (you’re w/ in the 10 or so days) and then re-buy it. Or call if they won’t do it in-store. Phone customer service w/ Verizon actually tends to be really nice. They have come a long way and are a lot more accommodating … since they can afford to be.

    • PoisonApple31

      Write a letter to Obama?

  • gmx

also if you buy a tablet with the phone you get 200 off tablet!! they have the G Pad 8.3 and 2nd Gen Nexus 7.

  • picaso86

Too bad I am month-to-month now and want to keep my unlimited.

    • XvierX

      Ditto

      • picaso86

Go to the online store for Best Buy (like the commenter below mentioned) I just bought the LG G2 for $1.

        :)

        • XvierX

I was just browsing on best buy’s website. :D I was considering the G2 as well.

  • m1ghtysauc3

Don’t forget the $35 upgrade fee.

    • gmx

30 fee not 35 30 for vzw and 36 att

  • T4rd

Nice, hopfully Best Buy matches this soon, because they’re letting Verizon users keep their unlimited data plans during upgrades through their online store. See this thread (and the thread it links to) for more details: http://androidforums.com/verizon/844803-upgrade-your-device-maintain-udp-using-best-buy.html

    • DeAnna Sowder

I had JUST been reading about this yesterday and was leery because the thread I found was from months ago. Thanks for sharing! Might have to go this route!

      • T4rd

Yeah, I was pretty skeptical about it too when I discovered it. But the guy in that thread and several others in the thread he links to have done it in just the past couple weeks, so it seems legit!

        • j

Still very hesitant. =[ I cling to my unlimited data like republicans cling to their guns. Thanks obama.

          • T4rd

You have tiered data line to transfer upgrades to? That’s how I’ve normally been upgrading to keep unlimited. Hasn’t been an issue if you do it online through Verizon’s site. Can’t do it in most stores as most reps insist that there’s no way to keep unlimited even with transferring upgrades (and they’re wrong, they just don’t want to try).

          • j

You mean transfer an upgrade to another line, get a subsidized phone, then just use it on the unlimited line? No.. but I guess I could. I have limited lines.

          • T4rd

Yeah, that’s what I mean. I have another family member on my account with a 2GB link that I transfer upgrades to in order to keep unlimited data on my line. I’ve done it twice now.

          • Guy

So how do you handle it after you have transferred the upgrade and ordered the new phone on the 2GB limited line? Activate phone on the limited line, and then just activate it again on the unlimited line, after the limited line has reactivated their previous phone? I plan on doing this relatively soon and just want to get the specifics down.

          • T4rd

No, you don’t have to bother with the limited line/phone. Just don’t bother with the SIM card the phone ships with, take your existing SIM card (on unlimted data) and put it in the new phone. Done.

          • reisen

They just want to keep a job.

          • T4rd

I’m not sure why it would jeopardize their job when their own website lets me do it by myself without issue. But the reps don’t even acknowledge that it’s possible either way, so I really think it’s just a matter of ignorance rather than fear of getting reprimanded.

          • chris125

Yeah I wouldn’t risk it, because once it is gone, it is just about impossible to get it back. Plus who is to say a month or so down the road verizon won’t catch it and switch your plan. No thanks.

        • picaso86

I just did it and pull the trigger on the Lg g2. I am picking up to my near store tho.

          • T4rd

You might lose unlimited data picking up at the store. It depends on if they let you use your existing SIM card or not. Or are you talking about the upgrade transfer method and picking it up at Verizon? Either way, picking it up at the store is risky.

          • Guy

Had thought about that, but am currently using a regular SIM while i imagine whatever next phone i get will use micro or nano or whatnot. Have heard about cutting the SIM down to size, but that would make me a bit nervous. But no, was just talking about transferring upgrade on the VZ site to a limited line, and then how to eventually get it on my unlimited without initial activation on there causing me to potentially lose unlimited.

          • T4rd

There’s no risk in cutting your SIM if you just use a SIM cutter tool like I did. There’s several on Amazon for less than $10, I think I spent $3 on mine when I upgraded last time. Or you can just take it to some phone repair booth in a mall and have them cut it down (with the appropriate tool) for you. I would certainly feel more comfortable cutting my SIM than trying to activate a new SIM on my unlimited data line.

          • picaso86

Should I pick it up? Maybe BB will let me walk out of there without activating the phone.

          • XvierX

Any luck in walking out without activating it in-store?

          • picaso86

Well, like you mentioned before BB wanted to activate the device in the store – so cancelled my order. LG G2 is not available for shipping. I guess im stuck with my OG razr for now.

Maybe if I can order the Moto X online have it ship home, use it for a week, go back to store and exchange it for the G2; do you think they will let me use the same sim card since its an exchange?

      • mcdonsco

I did it TWICE. iPhone 5s 32gb and Note 3. Sold both which more than paid for my GS5 at full retail.

But it did reset my contract end date the 2nd time I did it (hence why I paid full retail for the GS5, wouldn’t let me do it again because of the contract reset).

But I have no plans to ditch my unlimited data and it paid for the GS5 entirely…so, what do I care.

        • WCM3

well i just ordered a white and black GS5 as an upgrade to my line and shipped to my house. We’ll see how that works out. lol

I’m actually surprised it let me do it. But i’m sure i’ll receive an email or a call this afternoon about it.

          • mcdonsco

No you won’t…but again, it likely will reset the contract end date.

          • WCM3

I’m ok with that as long as I keep unlimited data. :)

          • XvierX

Did it work? Were you able to keep unlimited data?

          • Colin Huber

Let us know how it goes, if you would. Appreciate it.

  • http://www.twitter.com/macpro88 Jacob

Looks like however there’s a rebate card. Pay the $149.99 and get a $50 rebate card in the mail. Am I reading that right in the picture?

    • j

Yes, they only reduced the price $50, then they give you a $50 rebate card.. that probably has an expiration date.

  • yodatom10

Please last until saturday I would love to get my new GS5 at a 100 bucks off… might even pick up a wireless charger at that price :)

    • Maxim∑

wont you have to purchase another backplate too?

      • Johnny Steele

        Yep.

    • Big Daddy
    • Apostrafee

      Lasts until the 12th
