The day is almost upon us – HTC will unveil their next flagship smartphone, tomorrow, February 19 at a press event in New York City. We’ll be there, with a live blog for you to follow along, of course. Unless something wild goes down, we are expecting to see the HTC One (formerly M7), a device with a 4.7″ FHD display, 2GB RAM, 13MP (or Ultrapixel) rear camera, new version of HTC Sense, Jelly Bean, and a dual-speaker front piece to offer a unique sound experience. Like last year’s One X and One S event, this is going to be big.
Before we get to tomorrow morning, though, we’d love to hear predictions or final thoughts on HTC’s next big thing. Will it go to all four major carriers or will Verizon say “no” again? Will the Ultrapixel camera tech that has been rumored, end up impressing us all? How will this front speaker setup benefit anyone?
Let us know in the comments! Then join us back here at 10:00AM Eastern for the live blog.

I’d buy this iPhone I mean HTC device if it ran stock android and didn’t have a massive logo in between it’s buttons.
Simultaneously as the phone is being unveiled it will shoot down an incoming asteroid with it’s embedded laser wowing the crowd and media alike!
My prediction is that this phone will last a whole 2 hours after a full charge just like every other 4G phone that HTC has ever made.
I was going to actually send a real reply to this..then I saw your name.
You can tone htc sense down but Htc please dont do away with the htc widget clock. Its one of the main reason i love htc, its just something about the beauty of that damn clock.

http://www.ubuntu.com
Coincidence? I vote HTC Ubuntu tablet. Probably not, but I’d buy it!
thats interesting!
my prediction?
more over-hyped HTC product nobody really wants.
then samsung dominates them.
And a 1700 mAh battery…..
(made that up)
I’d probably run CM on whatever I got anyway, so it’s really just a question of ease of unlocking and hardware quality. HTC’s screens are fantastic but I think, no, I’m gonna wait on the Moto ‘X Phone.’
same old same old just alot of sense and no update for 6mths and will be extremely lucky to have 4.2 on it……not very optimistic sorry.
now wtf happen to verizon …………….. we get the DNA ( awesome phone ) but what about this one. a completely different chassis all together than their previous phones . What about an update for the DNA to give it Sense 5 ?!?!?!?!?
Sense 5 hasn’t even been released yet. Chill.
Yea, they just released the first bug fix update not even 3 mos after its release of the DNA. I’d say they’re doing pretty good so far.
Yea I was very suprised by that update . Didn’t really notice any changes except now my car charger has a message saying device charging too slow , use factory charge cable .
Wish there is no stupid press button and removable back cover. These 2 things are cancers. Wish for 3300 mAh battery but it’s probably not going to happen. Great camera would be a killer, need to wait and see. Love Razr Maxx original, if only Verizon unlock SIM for ATT/T Mobile.
you might get snowed in
I just can’t stand Sense. Beyond the performance hindrances it has, it is by far the worst looking skin ever made. The icons are bland, the design is murky, and compared to Blur, TouchWizz, and Stock Android, it might as well have come out of bigfoot’s rear end.
Moto-blur is just a few UI enhancements and a dark cover so they can take advantage of AMOLED displays saving energy. Touch-Wiz adds tons of stuff, so it’s bloat is acceptable to me. Sense doesn’t add enough to be justifiable.
An Ubuntu tablet
Please more hype on the DNA+.
I think HTC needs it to go to Verizon for HTC to to well, but I don’t think it will happen. Also, does anyone think HTC hasn’t been doing so great lately because of how modified Sense is from stock Android? It’s not my belief but just a thought/reason. Also looking forward to something with front facing speakers! I think that has been long past due!
No to your question because TouchWiz is just as modified (personally, I think TouchWiz is more modified), but it’s ended up doing fairly well for itself.
I think the hardware is what was holding HTC back. Sense probably does help/hurt buyer’s decisions, but lack of expansion and removable battery I’m sure is a big deal for many of the potential buyers. S3 has both of those, and has sold more than any other phone, even with its atrocious TouchWiz.
Id agree with that very strongly. Also, could you tell me what you hate about touchwiz so much? There seem to be a lot of people hating on it. Personally I love it and think its better than any other skin out there. Im just trying to see why so many others hate it. Thanks!
From my perspective, Touchwiz has the worst appearance of all the skins out there. The icons look cheap and outdated (even on S3), boxy and a bit ugly especially for “call” and “email” icons. Functionality wise it’s not too bad, since the scrollable control panel widgets are useful. The older version of wiz (pre S3) is also a bit sluggish, with a slight pulse when swiping screens.
Probably going to have a 1400mah battery and last for about 30 minutes.
in stand by
The HTC One won’t look anything like those horrible renders. Who the hell puts their logo between capacitive buttons?
Verizon (See SGN2).
i think LG did too
What are you smoking? This has to be one of the sharpest designs to date, very nice looking phone, IMO.
When was the last time anybody made a earpiece nearly the width of the phone? The renders probably aren’t real and it’s probably a good thing they aren’t.
I would like to be able to hold it upside down and still speak and hear a phone call.
My prediction, lawsuits from Apple tbh.
I think HTC covered all their bases with the licencing agreement with Apple. And the back looking like the front doesn’t justify a lawsuit. Put both devices together and they look nothing a like
HTC will announce the HTC One. Calling it.
My prediction? I think HTC is going to announce a new phone tomorrow.
Looks like the Z10 and iPhone had sex.
It was a three way with windows.
Ewww!!! Fail, Fail and FAIL!!!!!
confirm it not having a removable battery so dont have to watch the event-
A removable battery wouldn’t matter if they strapped on a 2500+ mAh battery. Although, don’t hold you breath for that one.
put a 3000mah battery in it and nobody would complain. But for htc I would be happy with anything over 2400mah would be large for them
But will it have a special extra mic that makes orchestras sound softer when I talk on it?
But, of course! What do you think the licensing agreement was for? o O
QWERTY!?
Well, that’s a given. 100% confirmed!
and it’s going to be stock aosp, unlocked, on verizon, free, and give everyone unlimited data back too!
Built in mini-microwave for nachos or GTFO
It only has a built in ketchup dispenser, sorry to disappoint.
And BJs
REALLY? It would be great to have a high end replacement for my Droid 3…
Nope. Nothing has been confirmed.
I really hope it has live wallpapers!!!!!!!!
What’s crazy is that a VIDEO hasn’t leaked of this thing yet…. I find that very strange… Been expecting DLIFE to post a video of some sort today…. guess it won’t happen… HTC seems to have things pretty air tight
Exactly.
If it doesn’t go to Verizon…R.I.P. HTC
What does VZW have to do with anything to be honest? VZW pushes droids first… Yet How successful is Motorola?… think about that.
I was at Verizon earlier today and over heard a guy asking about a phone with a “killer battery” and she showed him the SIII. I about sh*t my pants…why not show him the Razr Maxx Hd? I can only assume there is a push to maybe clear stock or some sort of selling bonus.
I’m sure if Moto execs heard this they would be pissed. Part of the problem with the whole Droid branding is that manufacturer bend over backwards for the Verizon, but then Verizon doesn’t support the phones enough.
B/c HTC needs all the sales it can get right now based off of their recent earnings reports, so having this phone on a network like Verizon & the # of subscribers they have will for sure help their cause.
well verizon has a large customer base and look how well the s3 sold being the same on all carriers. Just saying carrier exclusives are the reason htc is in the position it is in currently.
@chris125:disqus Device is coming to Tmob, Att, and Sprint on the same day? What more could they ask for? And rumor has it also, that VZW will still bring the device at a later date
yes but is it going to be a watered down version like the droid inc lte? If htc gets it on verizon to look like the other 3 carriers devices I will be impressed. Just hope HTC can do this and not bend over backwards for verizon
Yeah I REALLY hope HTC somehow just makes Verizon allow them to release it and call it the HTC One. It would really help them to have the phone come out on all 4 carriers with the same name. I’m hoping for the best.
If it doesn’t go to Verizon…Plus 1 million HTC
Htc would benefit from keeping it off pitiful Verizon. They specialize in cosmetic changes like a bunch of bitches
I bet this is actually a good phone, going out on a limb to say that though
Typical HTC:
Nice overall, but will always find a way to disappoint.
Come ON DANNY D!… Give them a chance.
they had their chance with the DNA and decided to shoot them selfs on the foot with a 2020mAh battery….and no expandable memory slot
Come on now… we All know that device was gimped on purpose by Verizon. Compare to the J Butterly
I blame them for not standing up for their device. The international models are the best, unfortunately it would cost too much to buy it unlocked.
the J butterfly is just as gimped… They are pretty much the same except the dna has wireless charging the others do not…http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/07/htc-droid-dna-butterfly/
One Word. MicroSD . . . in the J Butterfly
HTC should grow a pair and don’t allow vzw or any wireless company to gimp and change the guts of their device…
Then they lose a HUGE segmant of the US market.
yet it’s okay when apple does this????
At no point did I say it was ok for apple to do this…actually this was one of the many reason why I don’t own an iphone and I don’t intent to…
as long as we are android pro we good bro haha
Hard to give them a chance when their offerings come with small battery capacity, low storage capacity and buggy performance. It’s a real shame, I think they have the best designs, and their quality build rivals Apple.
I wouldn’t call the One X buggy. But battery isn’t great and storage blows.
One X+ is where its at, but they should of just released that instead of the One X. Bigger battery, 64gb storage, quad core, great performance would have helped them compete with the s3 better. My One X+ is sweet. This new phone doesn’t look good though.
Same here, the One X+ is really great! And a nice camera too.
“Defeat from the Jaws of Victory, at all costs!”
-HTC corporate motto
Agree 100%. i feel there is just going to be something about it that disappoints. Come on HTC prove me wrong.
I think it’s coming to Verizon… Just not the same rumored date. I’m really looking forward to some accessories also. Already love the design. HTC doesn’t dissappoint with design it’s usually sense getting all crazy on us… Looking forward to see what they do with the UI. Either way I’m ready to put my S3 on swappa for the M7.
agree with you my s3 seems dated compared to this. this phone looks sick as hell
Every phone is “dated” within 6 months. S3 in not an exception.
