It’s safe to say that we all sort of expect Google to re-introduce wireless charging to its phones when the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL (newest pictures) arrive later this year. After deciding against the feature in late Nexus models by going with metal phone bodies and sticking to that decision in the first two years of Pixel, the next round of Pixel phones will be more wireless charge-friendly, thanks to glass backsides.

Thanks to a hint left in a new release of the Google App that the folks at 9to5Google dug into, we think that the Pixel 3 and 3 XL will not only have wireless charging, but that Google will release a special “Pixel Stand” to go with them.

The mentions within the app specifically point out that your phone will get “Personalized help” when “on your Pixel Stand.” That’s referring to an integration with Pixel 3 phones that will be able to pull up “personal info to make suggestions, answer questions, and take actions for you when your phone is locked and on” the Pixel Stand.

Our assumption there is that the lock screen could show you useful information, possibly through Google’s At a Glance widget that already shows you commute times, upcoming meetings, and the time and weather. It’s a bit like a smart lock option in that Google is recognizing the Pixel Stand as a trusted device that is allowed to show you info.

For those not fully following, this is all new info. There is currently no product on the market called “Pixel Stand.” Sure, Google could release a charging dock of sorts called that, but XDA has also found hints in Android P to a stand that wirelessly charges a device.

I know you all hate the Pixel 3 XL’s notch, but does wireless charging make you happy?
