On Monday, YouTube announced its new sharing feature for at least the third time (that’s not an exaggeration), suggesting that it was finally rolling out to everyone. I still didn’t get access until Tim invited me yesterday, but it is readily available now to everyone even if you need a bit of help. We thought we’d just check in to make sure you all knew that this week is the week for it and to be sure you got it.

What is the new sharing feature in YouTube all about? It’s about sharing, silly. You now have a dedicated panel for sharing videos in conversations with friends and family. I know, I know, “LOLzerpants at Google having another messaging platform!” But really, though, it’s kind of cool and useful.

Instead of having to share YouTube videos outside of YouTube in whichever messaging app you use through a link or other means, you can just spend all of your time in YouTube sending off the latest floating chicken balloon clip to your bro pack. Then you guys can chat about how funny it is, watch related clips, and then move on to the next. The sharing feature pulls from your contacts to help you get into conversations, lets you include 1 or more people in a thread, provides recent history for quick sharing, and other messaging features you are likely familiar with.

Again, the feature is rolling out as I type this. If you aren’t seeing it, ask a friend to send you an invite link.

    I got this feature in January.It’s a great feature. You can view and talk about videos in one place without having to switch to another messaging app.

    Why would anyone invest any time into this. Goolag will probably abandon it within a year for another messaging app.

    Got it, don’t use it. As far as I’m concerned, the whole YouTube app interface is a mess.

    Noticed it yesterday. Shared the cool new feature via Google Hangouts. Got asked about it via Google Voice. Replied via Google Allo. They were confused so we set up a video call on Google Duo. Forgot I hadn’t installed that yet, used my work account to have a video call via Google Meet. They didn’t have a corporate account so we just went back to Google Messenger. After that we watched a YouTube video and chatted about it. Really appreciate Google streamlining the process of talking to someone on the internet.

    Got it. App recommended 7 people from my contacts to invite. Added 3 people from contacts. Only 1 confirmed. Shared a video but can’t tell if she watched yet or not (is there a read tag when someone sees what you write in the conversation?)

    So either people with YouTube accounts are slow in seeing invitations or the majority of people use YouTube without an account and never get an invitation. Much better than sharing via SMS URL but again like with everything Google does, people have to be on it (accept the invitation to conversation) to have any significant benefit over sharing via SMS, FB Chat, etc

      Just curious if anyone will use it heh. It makes some sense as a secondary running thread you could have with a group of friends.

      On weekday I got a decent new Land Rover shift Rover from having achieved $8752 this most recent a month.. Its the most-financialy compensating I’ve had.. It sounds mind blowing anyway you wont pardon yourself on the off chance that you don’t check it
