The merging of T-Mobile and Sprint to create New T-Mobile has been approved by the US Dept. of Justice.
The $26 billion deal will go on as planned, so long as T-Mobile sells its current prepaid assets, which includes Boost Mobile, to Dish Network and grants the company seven years of “robust access” to its network.
Justice Department’s antitrust chief, Makan Delrahim says, “With this merger and accompanying divestiture, we are expanding output significantly by ensuring large amounts of currently unused or underused spectrum are made available to American consumers in the form of high quality 5G networks.”
Once combined, T-Mobile will have roughly 80 million customers, moving very close to Verizon and AT&T in terms of customers, who both have around 100 million each.
