Comcast’s Xfinity Mobile, which uses Verizon’s network and is stupidly cheap for Xfinity customers, is now allowing customers to bring their own Android devices. This has been a requested addition to the service since it first started over two years ago.
To start, Comcast will only accept select Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy Note 9 phones. They hope to add more Android devices to that list “later in 2019.”
To check to see if your Samsung or Android phone is compatible with Xfinity Mobile, you can hit up the link at the bottom of this post. However, it doesn’t really do much today, though it might later on down the road. Right now, if you own a Samsung Galaxy phone, you have to physically take it into a Comcast Xfinity store to get setup. Comcast expects to be able to ship SIM cards some day.
If interested, Xfinity Mobile offers “By the Gig” and Unlimited data plan options that include unlimited talk and text with no line access fees. The “By the Gig” plan costs $12/GB of data, while the Unlimited plan is $45/mo. Both could be throttled once a user hits 20GB/mo.
From today through August 4, Comcast will give customers $100 prepaid cards if thye bring their eligible Android phones over to Xfinity Mobile.
