Check Your Wear OS Watch, Tiles Already Rolling Out

We’re barely 24 hours removed from Google announcing its latest addition to Wear OS and the feature is already popping up on watches. I’m talking about Tiles, which are the quick bits of information you may frequently access in the form of a card or page to the right of your watch’s home screen.

I grabbed the Montblanc Summit 2 (review) that’s sitting on my desk at the moment and to my surprise, noticed that there was something extra going on to the right side of my Google Fit page. With an extra swipe from right to left past that, I found weather and calendar Tiles, along with a hint to long-press to adjust or add more. Tiles are here!

The update is likely a part of the latest Wear OS app update that should have hit your phone this week as build 2.24.0.244631785. Once on your phone and then watch, Google just has to flip a switch that adds the new Tiles pages. In case it wasn’t clear, this isn’t a system update.

It looks like I’m not alone. A bunch of Wear OS watch owners at reddit are seeing Tiles on watches as old as the LG Watch Urbane.

How do Tiles work? Right now, there aren’t many to choose from, but you access them by swiping from right-to-left on your watch. You’ll find a set pre-loaded, with a long-press letting you then rearrange, remove, or add new ones. Currently, I have a couple of Google Fit-related Tiles, one for weather, a timer, and Google News. I’m guessing we’ll get more around Google I/O.
