A soak test of new software for the T-Mobile variant of the Moto X is set to begin within the next few days. With Android 4.4.2 already rolling out to Canadian variants, plus sightings of the build on Sprint and Verizon models, we can only imagine it being one thing – the 4.4.2 update.
The update will likely be very small, since the big jump was from 4.2.2 to 4.4 back in November. Motorola could still toss in new versions of its suite of apps, like the Camera, Gallery, or Migrate, but I don’t think any of them will see overhauls this time around. Overall, we haven’t heard much from the few early recipients in terms of groundbreaking new features. Still, be on the lookout for invites to your variant’s soak test.

Just checked, haven’t seen anything on mine.
First to get the update to KitKat: Verizon. Last to get the update to fix KitKat’s broken stuff (corporate mail, etc): Verizon. *bangs head on desk*
I didn’t take part in the soak…waiting to find out what changes are in it. I also need a reliable noob procedure to take the update, (Dev Edition, unlocked bootloader, rooted, TWRP recovery, Xposed with Gravity Box).
I’m thinking bug fix and updating stock apps to the play store versions. Plus the 0.0.2 update.
It’a somewhat minor update and people on google+ have been going bananas wanting it. I am quite pleased with this phone and look forward to the update. I truly hope with the lenovo purchase nothing changes and still full steam ahead, they do make some great laptops.
Amen
Where’s Verizon?
And where’s my Lenovo bloatware?
Wonder if Tap and Pay will be included.
It wasn’t included on the AT&T’s leaked S4/Note 3 (whichever one leaked) KitKat. Carriers still blocking crap.
That’s also samsung. This phone model isn’t tied to a carrier.
It works on the Verizon Moto X after update.
Well that’s great then.
I currently use Tap & Pay on my Verizon XT1060 on 4.4, is it different on other models?
Hope it fixes that annoying lenovo bug.
Okay, most of the Lenovo-related comments here irk me, but this one is hilarious.
Yeah, they irk everyone because they point to a larger annoyance and uncertainty about the sale. That’s sort of the point I think.
I think I’m getting a Moto X this weekend, if all goes according to plan (with my extra $30 off code). Switching to T-Mobile from Verizon. Every new post about the Moto X gets excited again!
I just did this very thing. My wife and I are saving $50 per month, I love the phone, and the service has been fine.
If your having them pay your etf keep in mind you have to finance a phone and they don’t sell the moto x.
What I did was give in my Galaxy Nexus, picked up a iPhone 5S in Gold full price then sold it for 50$(like 5$ more after ebay fees) on eBay. I didn’t lose anything and I got my ETF paid, which was a full 350 because I just upgraded. Picked up a 5S for fun to go with my X 😉
Got mine in a box waiting for me right now… yay weekend! 🙂
I have a code I could give you. My wife decided to go with a Moto G, so I don’t need the code anymore. Just let me know.
Haha, thanks, but I actually got one the day of the sale and I’ve been saving it to make sure the switch would really happen (since I’m on a family plan). That’s super cool of you, though. 🙂
I would appreciate the code, if you still have it.
Came from Verizon too. My walnut X is being assembled now! Wish is was here already. T-Mobile service has been fine so far. No complaints yet.
I switched from Verizon 2 weeks ago. Can’t be happier. I get HSPA in a bunch of places where I would get 1x(WHAT WHAT WHAT) and there is only one spot that I get No Service when I usually get crap LTE and some 3G. That’s alright, because it’s only one spot, the internet was unusable in that area anyways. The most important part is that I now get to use the Nexus, Moto X I’ve had for 2 months, and any other unlocked global phone. And as a bonus I get to save about 80$ with my family plan and get unlimited. Yeah. Go for the Moto X, you won’t be disappointed.
All I know is, I would never have bought my Moto X had the Lenovo sale gone through beforehand.
Am I happy with the phone now? Yes.
Do I trust that Lenovo will keep me happy in year’s time? No.
My 2 cents.
I’m still going to buy one in a couple months used, so I won’t feel as bad as paying full price if they stop supporting it in any way. Actually I plan on buying two of them one for my bro’s bday
I just got my Moto X yesterday on T-Mobile and it’s great! You’ll be pleased.

can anyone on KK veriify that does method works for native tether for the droid maxx ?
edit: i just noticed this art isn’t about the maxx, but perhaps someone knows.
I would like to take update of kit kit and not lose the option to tether.
I used the method linked at the bottom of that post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536166) and more specifically the script built for the Moto X (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48088398&postcount=35) Works on KK without any issues. (Moto X VZW DE XT1060)
I’m just waiting for my new suite of Lenovo apps to replace the stock Google ones…or not
Mmm, I can’t wait for Lenovo ‘Tunes and Lenovo App Store and Lenovo Mail
Ha downvotes…looks like we have some big Lenovo fans here
Nah. Just trolls.
They’re not Samsung.
To which P3Droid and JCase are saying not to download if you want to keep root. This may be the one to break all known root methods…
well since it’s the tmobile version, it has an unlockable bootloader so you can always just flash supersu through a custom recovery. i think this would be more of a concern on vzw & att models

if your maxx is rooted, you can just get the wireless tether app. better than native tether imo because of access control and it tells you how much data is being sent over the tethered connection
Hopefully this includes the much needed fix for the Exchange email bug that was introduced in 4.4
If I could upvote more than once, I would…
It fixed it on my Nexus so I am sure your X will be saved.
Am I the only one who isn’t having any issues with Exchange in 4.4?
If it’s 4.4.2… it will.
What was the bug?
It does. Or at least it did on my Nexus 7.
