Standard Galaxy Nexus Battery is Half Off From Verizon, Now Just $19.99

Galaxy Nexus accessories are hard to come by these days and are mostly sold out at VZW stores and online. One that is still available though, and at a decent price is the standard battery. Normally $40, you can grab it from Verizon today for just $19.99. With LTE continuing to be a battery hungry animal, you can never go wrong with having a couple of spare batteries sitting around. I will say that the stand alone battery charger that I picked up on launch day is one of my best purchases of the last few months. It’s too bad that it is sold out as well.

Buy.

  • Emily

Got the Extended battery today for half off in store. they were running promotions. $25 for the battery.

  • http://www.inerdtia.com/ inerdtia

Does anyone know when the better version of the car mount will be available and where? VZW is only selling the crappy one.

  • http://www.inerdtia.com/ inerdtia

The battery charger with standard battery is available again for $39.99.

I suggest you guys check any corporate discounts, I get 25% off on accessories, but have to go through my job’s “special” link to get the price, or go to the store in person.

  • http://profiles.google.com/booboolala2000 Patrick Crumpler

Got my battery charger on day one. Never use it as a stand. But us awesomr to have that soare before heading to work. Have to say this. Getting fourteen hours on a charge on lte i havent been swapping them out like i thought. Nice to have when needed.

  • Jason

    The deal isn’t 19.99 anymore, now it’s 29.99

    • Jason

never mind. that was weird – for a while it wasn’t 19.99 anyway

  • QtDL

I think the half off 4G battery sale is until the end of the month.
Here is a link for the standard battery/charger combo. Find a friend w/ a corp discount and you can get it for $30. :)

  • Hud3500

Its been that price for a few weeks…ever since the extended battery went on sale for half off.

  • BiGMERF

darn i wish i could find this or my gsm gnew

  • http://twitter.com/jdrch Judah Richardson

Almost useless discount: A spare battery is pretty much worthless without a standalone charger, and the matching Spare Battery Charging System for the Galaxy Nexus already ships with a battery.

    • Gary Pasler

NO!   The standalone charger charges a battery out of the phone.   Look under Galaxy Nexus on Verizon’s site (difficult to find) or see my link on NEWEGG (below).  The unit’s part numbers are:  SAMI515BC  or    ETC-CPK008G

      • Anonymous

Thanks. The website says it’s not compatible. I have a vzw chat person trying to help me out, but she isn’t much help yet.

Actually I have that device which is another option, and it does works with the GNex. It charges 2 ways: 1) “Plugged” as a wall charger and 2) “Unplugged” as it charges your phone on the go when you’re not near an outlet, as it has an 1800mAh internal battery inside. Pretty neat.

          • Anonymous

How well does it work? The reviews down below don’t sound too encouraging.

          • JoJoOnTheRadio

It’s basically a portable charger that charges your phone on the fly when you’re not near an outlet. Also acts as a wall charger as well. You charge it up first and then when you need a charge, just plug the device to it and turn it on. The negative reviews all appear to be bionic/razr users, it’s working just fine for me for the 2 weeks I’ve had it on my GNex.

  • DCABuckeye

The stand alone charger is easy available at stores and online still, and it comes with a standard battery for 39.99.

    • Anonymous

My store said they have it but it doesnt come with a battery.wtf

Maybe i dont know exactly what im looking for

  • Gary Pasler

I got the stand alone battery charger (SAMSUNG OEM with standard battery)  from NEWEGG for $29.99.    It does charge the extended batteries, but cover will not close with the extended battery inserted.    It’s currently out of stock, though.

    • Anonymous

Sounds like a better deal because you get the charger for $10. However, take note that the battery in the bundle is 1750mA vs 1850. I am not sure why Samsung made three different batteries.

      • Anonymous

Any chance it’s a typo on newegg?

        • Anonymous

Possibly but due to the angle of the pictures, I can’t tell what the label actually reads.

      • http://profiles.google.com/booboolala2000 Patrick Crumpler

        1750 for the gsm.

  • Tim242

I hope they fix this battery drain issue in an update.

    • Anonymous

I hope you don’t drop that rainbow towel.

      • Tim242

That would be better than dropping the soap…or would it? : )

Yes the more the merrier…Nothing like that retarded droid Razr

    • Anonymous

You mean the RAZR that lasts longer on its non removable batttery than the GN does with the extended battery?

  • eze4

What people fell to.realize is that the standard back fits over the extended battery without a problem. You dont have to wrestle with it or nothing
So why buy a standard battery?

    • Deiler

Really?  My understanding is that it does not.

      • Anonymous

Standard back works perfectly over the extended battery. Total agree with eze4.

    • Tim242

Not exactly. It is such a tight fit, it will cause the bottom of the cover to stop latching.

  • Anonymous

Anyone reccomend an external charger for the extended battery?

    • Christopher Riner

yeah, I’m waiting to find out if the extended battery will charge in the external charger.  I wanted to get an extended battery, but I bought the extra standard battery/ext. charger instead because I like never having my phone plugged up.  I’d go ahead and get an extended if I knew it would charge in the external charger.  Other than that, I’m waiting to buy any more accessories until THEY GIVE US A WAY TO USE THE DAMN 3 SEASHELLS

  • Dshudson

Great thanks.. This is one great reason to love this site and refresh regularly.. Always get a heads up..

  • Anonymous

Time to go buy some more accessories!

  • Michael Forte

I tried looking for the extended battery on Verizon’s site the other day and couldn’t find it. Did they take it down?

  • Erkleehoo

I also got the charger with extra battery on day 1…. best investment in awhile.

  • http://twitter.com/_elemenopee_ Kavin Nguyen

Will this fit (work) with the GSM version?. It would be nice to have the extra bit of juice.

    • TheAndroid1

      No, the batteries are different.

    • Anonymous

      Won’t fit, sorry.

  • http://twitter.com/zepiusftw Shawn Thompson

is there a $2 fee for this too?

    • TheAndroid1

Yes, plus they’ll shut of 4g to extend the life of the battery.

    • Anonymous

      fedex overnight shipping is free

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=75200646 Stephen Cox

The extended battery is half off as well, at least it was when I bought the GNex.

    • Todd Bruggeman

That deal is over.  It was only for the first week of release

      • Anonymous

Not true. Took a little while on the phone with tele-sales today but I got two ordered at half price. Price will show up as $49.99 until they go to complete the order. Then it shows as half off.  Funny thing is I had to do two separate orders to get $25 for both. If you order two together the price shows up as $37 for each.

  • Anonymous

Any issue with using the standard battery with the extended door?

    • TheAndroid1

It works great, haven’t had a single issue.

      • Anonymous

sweet, thanks – just realized I had an completely unused battery sitting at home (since I bought the extended battery before I received the phone)

        • Anonymous

I do this all the time. It would be even more annoying to have to carry 2 doors. I prefer the extended door anyway, rounds out the entire back.

          • Anonymous

            Agreed.

        • Christopher Riner

Yeah I wouldn’t see why the smaller battery wouldn’t fit with a bigger door.  Dunno if it would work the other way around, but anywho..

Does your phone fit into cases (or docks, if you have any) with the extended door on?  I played with the phone with the extended battery before release and could BARELY tell a difference, but I’ve heard people since then say that it won’t fit any cases with the extended door on the back.

          • Anonymous

VZW gave me a shiny gloss silicone cover for it for free (included in corporate bundle) and it fits fine in it with the extended battery and door.

(They also threw in a universal car dock in the bundle) – which at first I was pissed about, but what’s nice about it I don’t have to remove the cover to put it in. (And the real car dock isn’t available yet anyway)

          • Christopher Riner

swwweeeeeeeeet.  does the phone fit in the car dock without the case on it?

I want that car dock bad (the one that utilizes the three pins) but I could go for the one verizon has if I know the other one isn’t coming any time soon.  I have a chinese-made ebay deal for a car dock right now, which holds the phone, but I really want something made for my phone.  And then I can give my gf the cheap one I have.  I dunno if mine would fit with the case, tho– I got the Incipio double cover (plastic over silicone) and I think its a smidge bigger than the standard silicones.

          • Anonymous

In the universal dock, yes – the sides are re-sizable. Not sure about their GNex car dock, but I wouldn’t think so

  • Anonymous

Why pay $20 when the extended is $25 (pending the deal is still going on)…

    • Anonymous

Some people may prefer to have two batteries of the same size, rather than having one standard and one extended.

      • Joe

Yeah, I bought 2 extended batteries and the stand-alone charger that came with the extra standard battery.  I battery swap the standards when I am at work, and the extended ones for home.

        • Dshudson

I only use is for the rare occasion I run out, but I do stay charged at my desk and when i’m home sometimes.. I’ve had had 4g since tbolt.. so i’m accustomed to charging regularly.

          • Joe

I LOVE battery swapping.  The feeling of being “cord free” is awesome!

          • Christopher Riner

and not just chord free, but actually not having to wait for a charge.  I have the inductive charge pad for my droid charge (which is now my girlfriends charge– poor thing always gets my hand-me-downs) and it was “chord-less” but you still had to set it there and let it sit and charge.  Battery swaps are definitely lte’s best friend.

          • Joe

Yep, guess who got handed my Droid Bionic. The poor wife always gets the sloppy seconds. (don’t get me wrong, I love the Bionic and it ran great for me!)

        • Anonymous

stand alone charger with extra battery? I cant find this. Need a different battery back to fit extended battery or Does it come with one? Cant figure if i want anothrer standard or an extended. Does everything fit the same? Silicone case

          • Joe

The extended battery comes with an extra door.

But for EVERYONE that is trying to find the extended battery and stand-alone charger on Verizon, the reason you can’t is because they are both out of stock and they took them off their website til they get more stock.

          • Anonymous

Extended battery comes a new cover. Your original cover will work on the extended battery just fine though. Also your phone will fit into a silicone case with the extended battery. This is what I am doing with mine.

          • Anonymous

Awesome thanks! Now I just need yo figure out if I want the extended or the stand alone charger…or both

          • Madcow06

I keep hearing people say the standard battery door works fine with the extended battery but I have to disagree. I have both batteries and have tried this. You really have to jam it on there to get it to fit, after that the side clips pop out pretty regularly.

        • Anonymous

That cracks me up. Sounds like you got it down!

      • Anonymous

I understand your point but (economically speaking in my eyes) it makes sense to pay the extra $5 for the extended. The extended comes with a new back cover which is hardly any different than the original and also holds the standard size battery as well making it easy to switch between the two. Just my 2 cents.
***This is all pending you can still pick up an extended for $25… I picked up mine last week and am not sure if it’s still running. When I asked a Verizon Rep they thought it was running at least through the end of the month but we all know how reliable those guys can be.***

        • Tim242

The extended is not really extended. The standard is 1850 mAh, the “extended” is only 2100 mAh. Not enough.

          • Anonymous

Agreed but it’s the best we have for the mean time and for $5 and extra 250 mAh is worth it in my book.

          • Tim242

In my tests, it only gave me around 30 more minutes…at most. Not worth the added thickness, albeit not much. I’d rather have two standard batteries (3700 mAh total), and just one battery cover to worry with. Each to his own. Choice is great : )

I get 2 hours extra on mine.  Of course it depends on your usage.

          • QtDL

Exactly. Size doesn’t count, it’s all about how you use it. ;)

  • Jessesmith888

ok. have a case and a battery. just need the phone!

  • Joe Fischer

Yea, I got mine and the extra battery with external wall charger for free when I bought the phone…just sayin :)

Got the hook up, you know.

  • Anonymous

Does anyone know where one can find an extended battery without the door?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=705034 Jeff Simpson

I don’t think the door adds a lot to the cost

      • Anonymous

I guess not – but in the future I’m sure I’ll buy a 2nd extended battery

  • Sammy Guyana

    agreed,
i got the extended battery, and the battery charger with the standard battery included, and i never have downtime now, just swap out and go.
    i love this phone.

    • lostsync

Yeah, I had two spares and a battery charger for my OG and am really missing the outlet freedom it afforded.

For some reason i cant find that
