EasyTether Pro Price Cut in Half Through Amazon, A Tethering Option for Non-rooted Users

EasyTether Pro is on sale today through the Amazon Appstore for $4.99 which is half of its normal $9.99 price.  For those of you that choose not to root your devices, but still want a way to utilize the data of your smartphone through your PC, you may want to jump on this deal.  At just $5, you won’t find many tethering options that appear to be as solid and easy to set up as this one.

Oh, and I just got done testing it on my Thunderbolt – it worked flawlessly.

Has anyone met with success tethering a Nexus 7 to their Droid x2?

Why can’t I get easy tether pro for my EVO 4g but I can get the lite version?

  • Granted

Such a great app, especially if you don’t want to root your phone.

I have a DINC2.  How do I tether to my Asus Transformer with this if I need to install a client and use USB cable.    I’m using the built in 3G mobile hotspot, still havent received a bill or a “signup” warning.

  • Brianyu45

so if i bought this would it charge me the tethering plan if i tried using it…or send me to the verizon tether website?

  • Anonymous

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, GrabPenny.com

I’ve had good luck with both Barnacle and Wireless-Tether. Both are free. Haven’t been busted by Verizon yet, but no promises.

  • Gamule

just download the apk off 4shared…for free

  • 11knives

Just tried PDAnet Works great and it’s FREE!

Thanks for this!  Anybody have a good wireless tethering app that works on a rooted DroidX GB?  Everyone I’ve tried seems to direct me to the Verizon website.

    • skyskioc

Found this and it works great. Google it and dpwnload it and follow instructions. Worked awsome for me on my Droid X running APEX 2.0 RC2. My Wireless tether worked but was limited. Everytime I would try to log on to a secure website , It would re direct me to the Verizon website to purchase the extra data package. Here is the apk

This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen.  I don’t care that I paid 10 dollars as it was well worth it.  But now that this is 5 dollars and the top paid app on amazon, Verizon is just going to shut it down.

    • Rogerpietrowski

Can anyone that has the easy tether confirm it is still working? I think big V just shut it down! When I try to connect it just say charge only.

      • T-boltOwner

Will have to check it out.  Have yet to do the last software update so I’ll see and let you know.

  • webby

I’ve been using PdaNET for several years (full version) on several Android phones, currently the HTC Incredible.  I have found it to be consistently fast and reliable.  Also, in the latest version, you can check a box to “hide tethering” — Oh yes indeed, I jumped all over that option.

Installed on Droid X.  Works perfectly on VZW.  HTTPS/VPN, etc.  Just works

  • SlickNick

Epic fail with the name drop. I feel sorry for you.

    • Doc

His name isn’t a secret. If you’ve ever had an email from him you’ll see it. His name is well known in the Android world. Sure, best for the masses not to see it. But does knowing his name really give anyone more already easily googled information?

      • ben

It’s a fail that he blurred his name on the top of the image but left the one in big bold capital letters completely visible.

Do you want to show your name or not, Kellex? You can only choose one, haha.

      • SlickNick

The fact that the top was blurred threw me off. Glad there isn’t an issue.

So since no one has really answered this question yet, this will bypass the Verizon tethering fee for my DInc2?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Patterson/1533488333 Michael Patterson

has anyone had this installed on a vz phone for period of time? Id like to know if vz detects this… anyone?

  • http://profiles.google.com/cjh031 Connor Hoffman

So you blurred your name out at the top but not at the bottom?

  • Tom

Does it support Bluetooth DUN or PAN? With Bluetooth 3.0 starting to come with phones now, I was hoping to take advantage of the supposed ~20 Mbps speeds and low power.

    • Alan

I’d like to know this too. I have the Tbolt and tried PdaNet. It is extremely slow on both USB and bluetooth. I prefer bluetooth since the Tbolt is supposed to be upgraded to 3.0. Low power and high speed tethering would be great.

      • Anonymous

wouldnt both devices have to be bluetooth 3.0 to take advantage of it? and they put hardware in for 3.0 but only software for 2.0?

        • Alan

Of course both devices have to have bluetooth 3.0. My notebook has bluetooth 3.0. The Tbolt also has bluetooth 3.0 hardware. It just needs the software updated.

          http://www.htc.com/us/products/thunderbolt-verizon#tech-specs
          “Bluetooth:
2.1 with EDR (3.0 when available)”

          • Anonymous

hot damn. that’s nice. im still in a 2.1 kinda world =/ hah

          • Mrbrooks418

we need alot of software updates…….. just sayin.

      • Pat

Bluetooth 3.0 tethering would be great. I also tried PdaNet and got my Thunderbolt connected to my notebook using Bluetooth but it was super slow. It took forever to just load the Google homepage. Needless to say I didn’t buy the full version.

      • Ben

To answer your question, it doesn’t support Bluetooth.

  • 11knives

Just to clarify, is this a free method that will not invoke the tethering plan from VZ? Also is this usable on GB. 596 OTA?

    • 11knives

      Thanks for the info!

      • Arush Singh

No it will not invoke any fees from Verizon.  Pay $5, and use it as much as you like.

The newest version of PDANet is free, and no longer blocks https:// web pages… use it all of the time, and works great! Just FYI

    • Anonymous

Is that true? The description in the Android Marketplace says “Free edition limits secure sites.”

      • Samantha

kind of, most websites work flawlessly on the free version, but some websites with a lot going on on it fail to load.  i used the free version for a few months, but it wouldnt let me on my school’s blackboard page, so i upgraded to the full version, and that made everything work.  i thought it was worth the $10, so it’s definitely worth the $5.

      • steve0617

You have to get PDANet from their own website. Goto http://junefabrics.com/android/ and download the .exe. Install it on your laptop first then it’ll ask you to connect your phone. I just did that and it works perfectly on my Thunderbolt.

        • Anonymous

Their web site says: “Note: Once trial expires, you can continue using PdaNet for free. The only difference is that free edition blocks secure web sites.”

    • Anonymous

the app won’t install for verizon phones

      • TheUser

It will install, but within 48 hours, Verizon shutdown my complete data path…on a non-rooted first generation Moto Droid.  :<(

    • Anonymous

i just got it from their website and it was a 14 day trial?

I use Wireless tether and am rooted, but was wondering if I upgrade to GB if Verizon will be able to notice and not let you tether. Another thing I’m concerned about is will Verizon be able to see I am tethering and charge me the new $30 tether plan

    • game

Verizon  will call the cops and they will kick your door down and arrest  you,

      • TiddyII

I heard they send Verizon’s secret police and you vanish.

          that is all

The first rule of Verizon’s secret police is that you don’t talk about Verizon’s secret police.
