Motorola Milestone Available at Alltel Stores Now

Remember when we said that the Motorola Milestone would be hitting Alltel Wireless stores on the 23rd?  Well, it did.  As an Alltel customer, you can pick it up today and enjoy one of the last stock “Google Experience” phones ever.  It’s really no different than the Droid on Verizon, but it’s a hell of a lot better than the Hero which is your only other option on this carrier.

Anyone Alltel?  Anyone picking one up?

Cheers JK!

The Hero still has more capabilities , technically speaking than this phone .

The Motorola Milestone is only available to markets that are being purchased by ATNI or are currently retained. This phone is not available to customers in markets being sold to AT&T.

Umm…Verizon bought out Alltel in 2008. Did no one here get the memo? As an “Alltel” customer myself, my bill and plan simply switched over and I am now a Verizon customer (and happy Droid owner). I'm sure there are still a few places where the switch is still occurring; but in general, Alltel is dead

This isn't quite true. While the majority of Alltel's markets were able to be legally purchased and consumed by Verizon, many market areas had to be sold (aka divested) to other companies due to FCC/DoJ regulations to prevent a monopoly. This Alltel news pertains to markets that Verizon could not legally acquire without divesting them to a different company (AT&T, Element Wireless, ATN)

Not true I have been with Alltel since 1991 and I am still with them(10/12/11. AND I have never had trouble with service, phones etc. GREAT company. I hated that Verizon bought out SOME of the areas. But we stuck with Alltel cause I hate verizon.  Wish or hope they stick around.

    I meant Web* not phone

I read that Alltel is being bought out by AT&T so I was wondering – Since Verizon is going to get rid of the unlimited plans and since Alltel has a cheap unlimited plan for Phone, Talk, and Text….Will I need to sign up with an AT&T plan once they get bought out? Or will there still be an Unlimited Plan?

Someone on my facebook picked it up yesterday. I don't know if it was coincidence or if they were waiting for the release day.

On a more exciting note Chevyno1's Simply Stunning 4.8 is out

My cousin got it. It's pretty sweet actually. Not like my Droid X though. Lol but it's cool.

Do you think that anyone will release a stock Android phone on VZW again? Or do they think there's no market for it?

Somewhat related: Has anyone seen this post on ReadWriteWeb about pre-loaded apps? What do you guys think? http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/consumers_like_pre-loaded_mobile_apps_study_finds.php
