  • Does anyone know if the kit is going to include the ability to download other tech demos, such as Aperture Science Portal demo?

  • It sold 15k units in 10 minutes. I’m very happy for HTC. If it was available in my country I would have to against my principles and pre-order a unit 😉

  • Anyone have $900 USD they’d wish to donate to a single dad to obtain an entertainment platform? 🙂 lol j/k

Honestly I hope the platform takes off big time over the years. I also saw something about Microsoft’s platform will have a version of Conkers shipped with it. So who knows, content providers may be looking into these headsets already.

  • I want it but March will be a very expensive month. $600 for Oculus rift, $698 for S7 Edge ($100 coupon) and about $3000 for my spring break vacation.

  • Wait.. Hold up. Speaking of Pre-orders I’m reading some Tmob users are getting their S7 delivered today? Anyone here?

  • I’m interested but I don’t care about PC games. And they keep pushing that point. What other experiences do I have to look forward to? I may need to research.

    • This is why I am kind of excited to for the Playstation VR system. I tried it at the Playstation Conference and it was amazing. And you dont need a $1000 PC for it. Just your $300 PS4

      • But there will be limitations to a closed system like the PS4. And their going to have to add some breakout accessory box that houses a more powerful GPU if you want to get close to Rift or Vive. Otherwise it’s above Gear VR and below the big boys.

    • When you act like it will be 350 for a year, and then out of nowhere announce 600, there is rightfully some backlash. When you announce that it is a premium device, which will be very expensive, and come out under $1000 you are at least doing what you said you would. If you can afford it, it’s worth it. If you can’t, that sucks – I’m sure everyone including the hardware makers hope they can get the costs down soon.

      • I like VR – it’s great but for the current games and what they offer, it’s certainly not worth $799 to me. To others and it seems it does (15k sold so far). I just hope they cut the price and Sony doesn’t price it too high or they’ll be shooting themselves as well.

  • I have to vouch for this thing. I hate VR, get bad motion sickness from it, but this thing blows away the Rift. We received two of these for attending a VR conference a few weeks ago, and this thing tracks really well. Having the two room sensors makes a huge difference. I was hating on it up until the moment I tried it, and I stand corrected. I still don’t see a really practical usage for this tech yet, but I was still impressed. The joysticks are a nice addition. Overall, the resolution still needs to be improved, but I was still highly impressed with it.

    • Hopefully they have content partners lining up because this can’t live without fun experiences. I’m still kind of shocked that they are shipping this with an office simulator…just what everyone wants, to experience work in VR while at home.

      • Agreed, I wish they had at least titled it something other than Job Simulator… just all the wrong title, even though it’s probably a lot of fun based on reviews I’ve seen.

      • It’s basically a copy and rush job compared to what Oculus is doing. What scares me is that I really haven’t seen the talent that’s behind the Vive like I do with Oculus; more detail was provided by Oculus for the last few years. Plus Gear VR was a good way to learn from mistakes.
Just look at the crap LG put out; rushing to have something thrown against the wall. HTC is also rushing to get some of those Oculus backorders. Why let all the eBay scalpers make all the money.

      • It should be titled job “simulator”, with the quotes. It’s hilariously tongue-in-cheek and a great demo to ship with. Come home from the office, go into the virtual office, and throw paper airplanes at your coworkers, OD on donuts, steal your bosses glasses, and play flappy bird on your pc instead of doing actual work. The writing is really clever as well. There are other games that are more complete, but it’s true that it’s still pretty early in terms of content. The experience will make up for that for most people for a while, as long as there is more on the way.
