  • eh…the 360 is a way nicer looking watch then this…classier…honestly love my 360

  • Gonna wait to see it I person but my Moto 360 may end up with a small crack on the screen. That’s why we buy the protection plan . ;0)

  • Are there any pictures or video of the G Watch R showing it with notification and not the watch face? I have only ever seen the watch face and am curious/concerned about what it looks like during the other AndroidWear screens.

  • I’m holding out to see what the real pricetag is here in the states. I love how it looks like a “real watch”, but I’m not sure I can justify $350 for it, if that’s what it launches at.

  • I am. I have the 360 and love it, but am afraid I will damage it at work. The body on this looks a bit more rugged and may stand up to more abuse. I do not want this with a leather band though. Give me plastic, ceramic or metal options from day 1 and it will be my primary and the Moto will be for my days off.

  • Does anyone know how big the face will be? traditional 45mm or oversized like alot of the watche companies are doing now?

    • the screen is 1.3″ (33 mm), and the 360 is 1.56″ (40 mm). with the LG R’s bezel, the overall face sizes are about the same.

  • I’m holding out. I know I’m in the minority, but I love the look of this watch. I also can’t stand the light sensor on the 360. Totally ruins it for me. For me it’s either the G Watch R or no smartwatch at this time.

    • youve never worn one…ask anyone who does…unless your using a white face(which i never do) i dont even rem its there half the time

      • I have worn one. Every time I checked the watch my eyes were drawn to that light sensor. Maybe after a couple days I could get used to it, but I don’t think I should settle for “getting used to” for something that costs $250+. And even if the light sensor wasn’t present I still prefer the more traditional watch look of the G Watch R.

  • I actually really like how it looks like a real, traditional watch. It’s interesting to see others’ reactions though.

    • It’s cool looking but, assuming you can load other watch faces on this , those second hands are going to look out of place with something like a digital clock face, or many of the other faces already available for the Moto 360.

      • I agree. By going into such detail with the design they narrowed their market and I think that’s going to hurt them in the long run.

      • What if the minute markers on the bezels were backlit and nearly invisible if there was an option to turn them off?

    • I’m actually holding out, I want to compare it to the Moto 360, so I’ll wait until I see some hand on and reviews.

    • This watch looks great in these renders but the photos I saw of it out in the wild did not look this nice.

      • Yeah, I think I saw a vid of it, and the screen isn’t “glassy” IIRC, but I’m guessing that that’s because this watch has a P-OLED display. The watch also looks very thin, and not too chunky, which I liked. If these watches weren’t so expensive, I would have one by now, but $300? C’mon! I can get a device that does more for that price! I know there’s extra convenience that a wearable has opposed to a phone/tablet, but for my use case, these are going to have to come _way_ down in price before I can justify getting one. Perhaps the only way I would get one at this price point is if Garmin Pilot came out with a wearable app that would mimic the Garmin D2: http://youtu.be/jvzY30eCDqA

Just thinking of the Garmin D2 coupled with voice commands that synced with the Garmin Pilot app on a tablet is making me drool…

        • Yeah I hear you. I was actually lucky enough to win a 360 here on DL, and love it! But would I pay $250 for it if I didn’t get it for free? Ehhh, probably not. It’s definitely useful but for $250 I’d use my phone for notifications.

          • try buying a nice watch for $250…if you have any taste it wont be easy…you pay for what you get i love my 360 worth the $250 i payed(i wanted a new watch anyway and woulda payed double so for me i saved)

          • I already own a watch that costs well over $250 so I am well aware. But also when you buy a “real watch” at an expensive price you are buying that watch to last you a long time. We have no idea how long these watches will last us. Will Android Wear change so much in the near future where they put new sensors in these watches and the 360 becomes dated within a year or two? I wouldn’t be surprised. So you can’t always compare the 360 to a regular watch.

          • Thats a good point… Then again that’s the problem with any piece of tech you get…but if you enjoying it n tour happy with it for a few years it’s worth the money

  • I’ll have to see it in person before I make judgement. I wasn’t a huge fan of the 360 until I played with one in the stores. the only reason I didn’t pick it up is because of the battery and processor in the thing.

I want the thing to last a full day with always on mode…I just can’t/wont accept anything less.

this watch will do that (most likely) so as long as its not too big, or feels too cheap, or has a high price tag, I’m all in.

      • with ambient mode on? i have yet to see anyone post about this (I’m sure they have, I just havent come across it yet)

the watch needs to last at least 15 hours with ambient mode on for me to even consider it.

        • Well then consider this your first post. Since the update, I’ve left it on a few times. EASILY gets me through a day (never timed it, so I won’t commit to saying 15 hours exactly). I will say this: I used it with ambient off yesterday, forgot to put it on the charger last night and woke up with 30% juice. That’s from about 25hours time off charger. Ambient drains, but i don’t think it will drain 10 hours off your battery

    • They improved the battery A LOT, I’m only holding my money until Android Wear develops a little (since now it’s pretty much a cool looking digital watch)

      • I hear ya, I got burned buying Google TV early & now it’s obsolete. Of course, I did have a pretty good run with it & it still works, but I digress…

      • the watch still needs to last a full day with “always on mode” enabled. I am at my computer most of the day where a simple wrist flick isn’t necessary for me to see the watch face. having to tap the screen isn’t a big deal, but doing it over and over and over through a day would get annoying. I have seen lots of improved battery posts with the new update, but I have yet to hear if the new update will get users through a day (about 15 hours) with ambient mode on.

as for the maturity of the OS, I couldn’t care less, its a gadget that will keep me from reaching for my phone every 5 mintues…and thats exactly what I want. anything else is just icing on the cake.

        • Well if you don’t need to see time most of the day just turn on and use ambient mode when you don’t… I use watches everyday but I remove them while I’m on a computer (not really comfortable) and I get most of my notifications (and time of course) from the browser 😛

I do agree tho, it would be better to get a full day with “always on mode” but that comes with a cost: different display or a bigger battery, I could handle a worse display (or ¿Mirasol? I don’t remember the name) but I would NOT want a thicker device just to get the watch shining all day (in a phone there is no problem with thicker devices but on a watch it makes you look like an idiot)

  • I…I just CAN’T deal with the the minute indicators on the bezel, can somebody photoshop a the photo above and remove them?

    • What’s wrong with them? Am I missing something?

*if it’s personal preference apologies ahead of time.

    • all of my watches over the last 10 years have all had those diver bezels. the only thing i don’t like about the R’s bezel is that it is fixed and doesn’t rotate.

i’m really intrigued by the LG R. it has a slightly smaller screen than the 360, but no flat tire. early reports are that the batt will easily last a full day, even with “always on,” but the 360 is now supposedly there with the new update. from pics, the LG R looks a little more like a “watch” than the 360. i’m going to have to compare them, side by side, before making a choice. right now, i’m leaning a little more to the LG R.

      • If the bezel doesn’t rotate, that may eliminate the watch for many, if not most left-handed folks…

        • Not sure what you mean. I’m a righty, but just put my watch on my right wrist just to see what you were talking about. I see no reason to rotate the bezel just because you’re a lefty. You don’t flip the watch over when you move it to the other wrist, so why would the bezel have to be rotated. For the record my dumb watch has a rotating bezel.

          • I’ve done the exact same thing and wanted to comment but you did it before me.
The rotating bezel is not made for left handed people because the watch would still be upside down, so left handed people can still use this watch with no problem.

          • I’m trying to figure out how it would be upside down. I’m left-handed and “normal” watches are right-side up on either arm. The only difference is that the button would be towards a lefty’s hand, instead of pointing up his arm. Just like the camera on camera’s on Samsung’s watches work for lefties.

          • I’m sorry I was not clear. I was talking about Balthazar_B’s comment and what I meant was that it makes no sense because the left handed don’t flip the watch and even if (for the button placement) they would the whole display should rotate and not only the bezel.

          • Yes, you do flip the watch on the opposite wrist so that the adjustment button propoerly faces your dominant hand. The Moto 360 automatically adjusts the screen orientation to be correct regardless of which wrist it’s on. If the bezel can’t be rotated, and you’re left-handed, the “30” will be at the top of the face when you wear it correctly on your right wrist.

          • Oh, I didn’t know that the moto 360 could rotate but the black bar would look even worse on the top and I would not trade the button placement (not used a lot since you can wake the screen by touching the screen) for a top black bar. If the LG can do it too then, yes, its bezel should rotate.
Also when I said it makes no sense I was thinking about normal (not smart) watch : rotating the bezel will not let you flip the watch unless you want an upside down time.

    • I didn’t know that the minutes were on the bezel, I actually thought that was part of the digital watch face, that sucks if that’s permanent
