If you have a HTC One (M8) on a US carrier, you may have noticed that one of the phone’s advertised features is not present on your device. Extreme Power Saving Mode was touted by HTC as a way to preserve the last 5% of your battery for up to 15 hours by disabling many features, but it curiously was not available on US variants of the device. Sprint is the first carrier to remedy this, bumping their version of the One (M8) up to version number 1.54.651.8.
Extreme Power Saving mode will turn the One (M8)’s brightness down, CPU’s clock speed lower, data connection offline, pedometer off, and only let users run a very limited set of applications, allowing the battery to last you through the night if necessary.
Curiously, the addition of Extreme Power Saving Mode is not part of the release notes, but those who have received the update are confirming that the feature is indeed part of it.
To enable the mode, users should be able to head into the Power menu in Settings. If you have received the update, let us know how the feature is working out for you down in the comments.
We can tell that rigid flex circuits is much smaller, thinner, softer and lighter in its shape in the comparision of the differences of FPC and PCB.
When the cable materials get smaller, it becomes much easier to assemble the machine to its system.
Now if only they’d roll out an update to give folks extreme LTE speeds. And by extreme I mean actual LTE speeds that are on par with the other major carriers.
well that depends on your location, i think verizon is updating its towers now, but last year in NYC i was watching people consistently pull 6-8 mbps on their gs3’s… Sprint caps out at 25 mbps if im not mistaken.

First, Samsung didn’t do crap but license the tech.
Second, HTC either licensed the same tech, or ripped LucidLogix off, not Samsung. I suspect the prior.
It was still put on a Samsung device first then HTC decided let’s do an update and include this also. Ripoff..
You really think they saw the preview of the S5 awhile back and then scrambled to add this at the last second? Unless I’m mistaken, the int’l variant had this on it already, the US carriers are the only that didn’t.
Actually I guess it’s possible it was a last second add-on… don’t really care though, as it’s a great option for any phone.

Sort of. This will stip the phone down to the basics on demand. There’s a notification drawer toggle for it.

Even with out it battery life has been impressive. As long as it lasts me all day I’m fine with that. I charge it at night anyway

I know you didn’t ask me but I love the one M8. I’ve had most recent android phones and its my favorite one. I use an iPhone 5S primarily but I’m definitely holding onto this M8. It’s awesome.

Just had a flashback of the days Sprint got Specialized HTC devices. Does Sprint not Brand the devices like At&t and Verizon?
No ugly branding whatsoever. At least on their recent devices, but even then their branding has always been minimal unlike Verizon.
