The Lenovo Smart Clock launch came and went without too much fanfare, simply because it’s hard to justify spending $79 on an alarm clock with Google Assistant functionality when your smartphone already does all of this and more. This morning, Google and Lenovo are hoping to add a bit more value to the device with an update that is rolling out to owners this week.

After being automatically updated to this new build, the Smart Clock will be able to showcase actual photos from your Google Photos account as well as featured photos from Google. This is the exact same thing Smart Displays have been doing since they launched. We don’t know why Smart Clock launched without it.

The other only difference after the update is the inclusion of Continued Conversation for Google Assistant. With this optional setting, you can have more natural back-and-forth conversations with Assistant, without the need for saying “Ok Google” each time you need to speak to it. Once you trigger Assistant the first time, you’re provided with enough time to respond with a followup.

Again, this update is rolling out now.
