Samsung Galaxy S5 owners on AT&T should see their devices updated to Android 5.0 “Lollipop” today, as the carrier now seems ready to push the long-awaited update to owners. As stated, this is Android 5.0, not to be mistaken with Android 5.1, Android 5.0.1, or Android 5.0.2. Yes, this is barebones Android 5.0, according to AT&T’s changelog.

Inside, Galaxy S5 owners will see the changes made to Samsung’s TouchWiz UI and the Android OS as a whole, but it is quite interesting that Samsung and AT&T decided to stick with Android 5.0 and not one of the more updated versions of Android. Even the Galaxy S4 received Android 5.0.1 the other day.

Speaking from a bit of experience, Android 5.0 is a bit buggy, but it is possible that this update is just the first of a few to come. In time, there is no doubt Galaxy S5 owners will see Android 5.1, but there is no telling how long that will take. Honestly, it would not surprise me if Galaxy S5 owners see a drop in performance or even battery life after taking this update. However, my fingers are crossed that everyone has a good experience with Lollipop.

The update file size is 1.4GB.

S5 owners, let us know how it goes.
