HTC Rezound Pre-Production Model Gets Some Video Hands-on Time

Mmmhmm, the HTC Rezound just got “unboxed” by a tester who clearly doesn’t mind showing his mug to the entire internet. This is a “pre-production” model that looks pretty finished for the most part. I was told to expect a big Beats audio logo on the back of the device at launch, but after seeing this one with both “Verizon” and “4G LTE” on the back instead of “with HTC Sense,” I’m not sure that will happen.

The tester doesn’t discover anything shocking in this video, but is able to confirm the 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.3″ 720p HD screen, 1GB of RAM, and Sense 3.5 – all specs we reported back in early August. We also get to see under the battery cover for the first time, which appears to be some sort of see-through red plastic. It’s one fine lookin’ machine.

Can it compete with the Galaxy Nexus and DROID RAZR? We might know this Thursday when HTC takes the stage in NYC to announce it.   (more…)

HTC Rezound Goes Back to the FCC, This Time With a Wireless Charging Back

The HTC Rezound (formerly the Vigor) made its way through the FCC back in September, so when it stopped by again today, we couldn’t help but wonder why. According to the “Change Letter” that was submitted, it needed another look as HTC has added a wireless charging back cover to it.

We will have to assume that this just means they will sell a wireless charging back separately (as has been done in the past), but would be nice if these phone manufacturers would start building this technology in from the start. Of course, that would limit their potential to make money off of accessories, so I doubt we will see that move coming any time soon.

This phone should be announced next Thursday with a potential launch coming the follow week on November 10.

Has wireless charging become a part of your life? Not something you are interested in at all?

HTC Announces NYC Event For November 3rd with a Beats Flair, Rezound Incoming?

Ready for the HTC Rezound? After a couple of weeks of talking about the Galaxy Nexus and DROID RAZR, HTC is ready to take back some of the spotlight with their latest creation. Press invites are going out for an event in NYC that they have set for next Thursday, November 3, which we are all assuming is going to be the unveiling of their Verizon Beats-equipped phone.

We gave you the first pictures and specs of this phone months ago and are excited to see it finally come to stores. Current time lines would suggest that we will see it on November 10. With an announcement happening on the 3rd, I’d say the 10th is certainly doable. You all know how Big Red loves their Thursdays.

You haven’t all written off this phone have you? With its HD screen and 1.5GHz dual-core processor, it will be a beast.

HTC Rezound Appears in Verizon System: Name Looking More Confirmed by the Minute, Global Capabilities?

Update:  We tossed in a new screenshot up there that shows two things of importance:  1. That it’s a 4G LTE phone. 2. That it has global capabilities, just like the Incredible 2. Talk about an added bonus, especially with the possibility that the Galaxy Nexus won’t be.

We were starting to wonder if the HTC Vigor aka Rezound aka Incredible HD had been axed or severely delayed with the two big announcements on the way from Motorola and Samsung/Google. It had essentially disappeared from all chatter around these parts and from our sources as well. Today, it’s back! And the name Rezound that we first reported on back in September has pretty much been confirmed. It’s in Verizon’s Device Management system as the Rezound, our sources are now calling it the Rezound, and well, we are expecting that to be plastered on retail packaging.

Whether you are a fan of the name or not, you will be a fan of the phone itself. Dual-core processor, HD screen, Beats integration, and LTE should make this device a true beast. I know it has a tough task going up against the Galaxy Nexus, but that doesn’t mean the phone isn’t above top tier.

Still no word on a release date. The last roadmap we saw showed October 20 which is next Thursday. Sort of doubting that we will see it then with the RAZR and G-Nex about to get all sorts of love.

Cheers ___!

Nexus Prime, DROID HD, and HTC Vigor All Start to Appear in Cellebrite Systems

Talk about the type of info we love to see on a late Friday afternoon.  Loaded (as of this week) into Cellebrite systems, we have three devices that have been on the minds of all Android enthusiasts over the last few weeks:  Nexus Prime (Galaxy Nexus?), DROID HD (RAZR?), and the HTC Vigor (Rezound?). While no other details ever accompany Cellebrite listings, we do at least get further confirmation that all of these phones exist along with their model numbers.  The Prime as we all know is SCH-I515 and the DROID HD is XT912.  The Vigor for some reason is listed under its FCC number as PH98100, but should hit stores as the ADR6425.   (more…)

HTC “Vigor” Accessory Page Spotted at Verizon’s Site – Name Confusion at its Finest

Are we all now 100% confused as to the name of the HTC Vigor aka Rezound aka Incredible HD?  What you are seeing above, is an accessory page that has been built for the “Vigor by HTC” on Verizon’s website (view the page here).  So what does that mean?  Is it not the HTC Rezound like we reported last week?  Did Verizon actually settle on Vigor?  No Incredible HD as was once rumored?  Let’s try to walk through what we are seeing and what we know.

First let’s start with the fact that Vigor was originally supposed to be a codename and more than likely still is.  If you look at any HTC RUU that has leaked over the last year (Mecha, Bliss, Vivo, etc.), you probably won’t find one that includes the retail name of the phone in it.  And so far, we have seen “Vigor” used in both of the leaked RUUs from the last week or so.

Second, the product ID number that has been assigned to this Vigor page is really old at 5723.  The Rhyme – which just came out this week – has a product ID of 5758 and the Bionic sits at 5716.  Logic would lead me to believe that the HTC Vigor or Rezound will have a number beyond 5758 when it launches, but I guess logic doesn’t always win.  Big Red could be setting up the page well ahead of time.  And why would they go out of their way to trademark Vigor if they were going to replace it with Rezound?  So many questions.

Have HTC and Verizon finally settled on the name Vigor?  I hope so – it’s a fine name for a phone. Something in my gut tells me this may just be a placeholder though, but am certainly hoping I’m wrong.

And by the way, here is the accessory page for the Stratosphere too.

Monday Poll: Which name would you prefer for the HTC Vigor?

Over the weekend, our sources sent over the picture you are seeing above which has led us to believe that the HTC Vigor may not launch as the Incredible HD after all and will instead hit store shelves as the HTC Rezound.  When we reported this news, the reaction was not the most positive thing we have seen in our lives (by the way, the comments are hilarious).  Many of you were hoping and expecting to see it as the Incredible HD or even the Vigor for that matter.  Clearly HTC and Verizon are rolling with the Beats by Dre vibe of this phone, hence the sound-esque (zound?) feel of Rezound.  We are pretty confused, but wanted to get your thoughts in one of our standard polls.  Vigor, Incredible HD, Rezound or even Thunderbolt 2?  Which do you prefer?

HTC Vigor Poses for Photo Shoot: 4.3″ 720p HD Screen, 2MP Front Camera, 4G LTE and 1.5GHz Dual-core Processor Confirmed

Is there a better way to confirm the specs of the HTC Vigor (Rezound?)than by looking at its About screen?  Probably not, so let’s do that now.  In a new series of pictures that popped up this morning, we not only get the most current shots of the outside of the device, but under “Hardware Information” we get confirmation on all of the specs our sources told us back in early August.  We have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3.4, 2MP front camera, Sense 3.5, 8MP rear camera, 4G LTE, and that stunning 4.3″ HD 720p display.

How hot is this phone?  Here’s to hoping the battery life is the real deal.
