NVIDIA looks to be setting up for a few Black Friday deals of their own, two gaming packages to be specific, which could save you quite a bit of cash up front if you take mobile gaming very seriously.
For a limited time, beginning November 28 at 12:01am and ending the same day at 11:59pm, customers can pick up a SHIELD Tablet “Green Box” bundle (includes SHIELD Controller) for just $399, or a SHIELD Portable with carrying case and replacement Armor for just $199. (more…)
An update is rolling out to SHIELD Portable owners straight from NVIDIA, one which brings crucial battery bug fixes, and the updated SHIELD Hub application for finding new games.
It appears a bug was causing battery drain while the lid was closed, and another bug was preventing videos from playing inside of Facebook, Chrome, and YouTube. Thanks to this update, all of these annoyances should be solved.

NVIDIA is pushing a new update to their ultimate gaming slate, the SHIELD Tablet, as version 1.2.1. The update is pretty minor, according to the changelog, but does improve WiFi performance on the 5GHz band, fixes a charging issue, and adds some optimizations for encrypted devices. Through the official Tegra account of NVIDIA, the company teased the readiness of the SHIELD Tablet for an upcoming update to Android 5.0, Lollipop.

As you would hope for a device that launched more than a year ago, NVIDIA’s Shield Portable offers a fairly stable experience out of the box. That does not mean it is beyond reproach, however. A major update is rolling out to owners of the SHIELD aka SHIELD Portable from NVIDIA. In the update, which is available now as OTA 5 Release 82, users can instantly hook up a SHIELD Controller through newly-implemented compatibility, as well as manage Controller settings through the official SHIELD Controller application.
