Download: New Google Play Store 4.0.27

A new incremental update is out for Google Play, version number 4.0.27. In terms of what’s new, it must be some bug fixes or something along those lines. Definitely nothing major on the front end. Grab the download link below if your Play app has not already auto updated.

My playstore will not open, I tried downloading this one and it opens for a second and turns off, what the f should I do?

  • Mordecaidrake

Any issues with the Razr HD? I’m always skeptical about manually installing Google updates for some reason. It’s weird, my phone and Nexus 7 haven’t been pushed the update yet but my Vizio Google TV has.

  • Will It work on Samsung Galaxy Ace?

  • Nagabushan Bengaluru

Thank you.. Lots of fixes from this version. especially for tablets

  • Simon Belmont

I don’t have a problem with the look and feel, I just wish the icons and “cards” weren’t quite so large. They take up space so there’s actually less on the screen and more scrolling is required, like in your apps list, and this is especially frustrating on higher DPI devices where it would make sense to show more on the screen at once, without sacrificing clarity.

As for getting the new Google Play Store, nearly all of my devices finally got it yesterday. My EVO 3D, my wife’s EVO 4G, my Nexus 7 and HP TouchPad. Even my old HTC Hero running CM7.2 got it. Funnily enough, though, my B&N Nook Color running CM10.1 has NOT gotten it yet.

  • Pretty sad they haven’t even finished pushing it out to all current devices I have 2 phones and a Nexus 7 that are constantly on and connected that have the old play store. I actually kind of like the old store better.

  • I don’t know what this auto update thing is but mine never updates. Im still 4.0.25

  • Raven

I know that I can pull it myself whenever (but I am not in a big hurry to), but I am really surprised that my stock Nexus 7 has not updated to the new Play Store at all yet even though my old rooted Droid 4 did almost as soon as it was announced. Has anyone else experienced this? Are they only pushing this to phones and not tablets yet?

    • Simon Belmont

I don’t think so. My HP TouchPad and Nexus 7 have both received the update.

My B&N Nook Color on CM10.1 has not, though. All in due time, I suppose.

I have nexus 7 but no update yet either. Not in a big hurry, just trying to figure out why I am not getting it. Stock nexus 7 also.

  • Man the One phone looks great!

  • danofiveo

Am I the only one who don’t like the new store app. The buttons are to small!

    • Geoff Johnson

And when going to “my apps”, the boxes for each app are much larger so you see fewer at once

      • Simon Belmont

        This. It annoys me.

I wish the boxes scaled better for higher resolution devices. Hopefully that gets tweaked in an update.

Nope, I don’t like it either. I much preferred the darker theme and layout of the previous version. I didn’t see much new functionality added at all in the new market, it seems Google changed it just to change it.

the HTC One looks even better every time i see a photo of it. i hate Verizon for not giving us this option.

    • It would have been better with the speakers on the sides. Top and bottom makes it lookugly.

      • radiohead14

it makes perfect sense to have it out front.. you’d just end up covering the speaker ports with your hand if they’re on the sides. no way you can have them on the top/bottom sides too, since the headphone jack and mics are there.

It makes the phone bigger than it should be, plus it still has huge bezels. I would think that the speaker grills would be prone to allowing moisture in the front of the phone. I dont like the design. The camera is terrible. It is not for me. But, I agree. It should be a choice.

          • radiohead14

it would allow the same amount of moisture if it was on the back. i’d take function over form, since i’m so tired of having to cup the speakers for decent sound. agreed on the bezel tho.. they could’ve worked on slimming it a bit more.

the camera has also been reviewed as one of the best.. if not the best android camera right now:

          • Tim242

As far as the speakers, I don’t see the point of them. It’s very rare that most people use their phone’s speaker. Headphones just sound better, and don’t disturb the peace : ) As far as the camera, it is great in low light. But for normal pics, it struggles. It is just a 4MP camera. I need more detail than that. I need better than Facebook quality pictures

          • radiohead14

just because you don’t see the point in them, doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone.. it’s not rare at all.. there are many like me who have wished for phone manufacturers to start taking audio on their products more seriously.. why can’t we have phones with better than subpar audio quality? yes headphones will always sound better, but if other companies follow HTC in this.. maybe it can become a new trend.. just like how others are now starting to go pass the “more pixels are always better marketing”, and actually focus on the sensors.

and for the camera.. read the whole Anandtech article…

          • Tim242

I’ve seen a hundred reviews. Some say that the camera is fine. Most say it’s the best low light, but normal pictures lack detail due to the lack of MP. Common sense tells you that with only 4MP, there will be less detail in pictures. You can forget about zooming, cropping, or printing. It is fine for FB pics. However, it is not good enough for anything else.

          • Tyler

Its a phone if you want to zoom and all that jazz you can use a real camera. I don’t see phones being better then a DSLR camera anytime soon.

          • Tim242

I don’t mean zooming to take a pic. I mean zooming in on the pic on your screen, in the gallery. I need more than 4MP of detail

        • Huge bezels like that are a no-no.

      • PhoenixPath

Sides would either make the device much wider, or shrink the screen-width, and you’d risk covering them with hands/fingers when holding it..

Given the options, I’d much rather have them top and bottom, but of course, it’s all down to personal preference…

  • zombiewolf115

hopefully they fixed some download issues i get 50 down and up on wifi and it would take 10 minutes for a 20 mb update to finish

I still haven’t gotten the last play store update on any of my devices (Razr HD MAXX, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, or Galaxy Nexus.)

    • Tim242

That XDA link above has them all…

    • Justin Winker

It should have rolled out to you already… I would just manually update it. 🙂

      • bull3964

I’d rather figure out why none of my devices got the update pushed to them than mask the issue by manually updating.

        • Justin Winker

Well good luck with that. 🙂

    • PhoenixPath

Just got it on my nX. Have had the newish one for a while now on my GNex though.

    • danofiveo

Got it on my Droid Razr but not on my Nexus 10 or Motorola Xoom.

  • Spider210
